I doubt Salah will actually move on for a start, even if he does they’re a squad with impressive depth anyway. Jota stepped up a level almost immediately and has kept decisive, Diaz has absolutely hit the ground running with no real teething issues. There’s almost nowhere for him to go, realistically. If Mbappe goes Real, as seems likely they’re not getting Salah the same time. So maybe PSG go for Salah but unless they’re putting in a massive financial incentive that he can’t ignore, on pure footballing terms why would he go there? Bayern? Embarrassment of riches in those kind of areas anyway, they’re bloody strong there. Barca are recovering from the brink of financial meltdown. Serie A sides have neither the kind of cash nor the clout the top Premier League sides have. He’s probably going nowhere, and even if he does I don’t see Liverpool dropping off much

City pull away and if Chelsea get owners in and invest more into their squad then again they will be closer to City and Scouse will be without a superstar. Salah seems to want to get paid that is what he wants, Scouse wont give him 400k he wants and that is why he is not signing the deal, he will get that deal at PSG/Real Madrid/Barca probably and just go take it which why wouldn't he, he will be 30 when that time comes. Just like Barca and Real have found, replacing Ronaldo and Messi is impossible, Salah is going to be like that for Scouse and Bayern will find that a problem with Lewa goes too. These guys are the backbone of those teams and their replacements do not exist.

Pande, sig bet: if I win you will put "Chelsea FC is the worst club in London - they only got lucky with Abramovich money." and I bet that they will be within 6 points (so 5 or less) of first place with 10 games to go ![]()

Do you follow your like, own team to see you don’t actually need that to be successful, win the Champions League or? City don’t even have anyone close to that, they’re doing alright. It’s an atrocious bet, based on almost no joined-up knowledge of football whatsoever I’ll happily go sig bet vs Pande on Liverpool finishing outside the top 2 in England next season.

They might make an exception for those two, especially as their transfer fees are liable to be lower than they would normally be given their gradually getting close to the ends of their contracts. The wages may be too destabilising though. Both from a morale sense and an overall wage inflation sense. Mbappe is great but do I want him earning 3/4x me? Or would I be happy that Mo Salah left because they wouldn’t pay him even half of what those guys are going to pull in? It’s pretty rare clubs get the chance to get top, generational talents, arguably long before they even peak. Helped greatly by the law changes around players in the last year of their contract. So I can see clubs that eschew superstars normally going in on this occasion.

So I’m not sure why specifically the teams in the relegation fight are pushing it. I think it’s generally a good idea from a welfare perspective. Plus fresher players make for better football too. Plus more options makes for managers being able to change more tactically, which makes for more interesting football from that perspective. I’ve seen innumerable matches over the years where 3 subs are made an an injury occurs and that team is left playing a player down too, which aside from the odd heroic scraping through doesn’t make for a fair sporting spectacle. The occasional epic of an outfielder playing in goal aside, just feels wonky to me. Obviously this can still happen with 5 subs but it’s less likely. I thought this would have been one of those rules brought about by COVID that was kept because it worked well and makes more sense, but apparently not. This isn’t even getting into the lack of proper implementation of subs for concussions, or suspected ones, which is a disgrace frankly.

Yes Chelsea's play comes from its wingbacks, that is where our goals come from. Our team was fit until December where we were top of the league with Reece James and Chilwell as our highest scorers/assists. They then got injured and we tumbled down the table. Salah is Liverpool's goals, simple as that, nothing wrong with it, we were Hazard FC for a decade lol they are Salah FC. Klopp will not be able to find 30+ goals a season in the transfer window at all with the wage structure at the club. I don't get how you don't see that lol, if there is no Salah at Liverpool they will replace him with a player who will not score the amount he scores or close to it. Jota is doing great for them and he won't get near the 30 plus.
