Sold Coutinho for 120 million and Van Dijk cost 80, Allison 70 and Keita 60? Do the maths sir, let alone the Jota, Konate and Dias signings to boot etc. Spent £80 million two windows in a row. Not saying they are City levels or Yanited levels but to be naiave to say they do not spend money to win is wrong, they were a very good offensive side struggling for top 4 until they spent on van dijk and allison very well of course. | ||

City’s net spend could have looked a lot better over the same period, their players have a certain profile/traditional giants like Real or Barca were never in for one of their big boys that could make those sums look prettier. With Chelsea there’s the basic transfer ins and outs sure, but I mean they must get decent loan fees for the bunch they send out reliably every season. Which probably puts a decent claw back into their net spend too. | ||
