Not sure how it was across your various countries, the BBC over here kept the footage rolling on their broadcast, there was absolutely no need to it was patently clear what was happening. Was having my kiddo over, who’s old enough for this to be his first real tournament he remembers (mine was France 98, same age actually) and having witnessed my own dad fail to get resuscitated by CPR and trying to explain what was happening was just, awful. Frankly unacceptable, broadcasters will apologise for an exuberant swear, cut to avoid the horrors of a naked person running onto the pitch but keep the footage rolling of what could have been a man dying live and his wife’s reaction? Beyond fucking sickened really. Thank god Eriksen is OK, at least to the degree of being alive and responsive. Ideally to the degree he can return to grace the sport he’s enhanced with his skills.

Missing a penalty and Kasper fumbling over Finland's only attempt at goal just shows how they had not recovered from their emotional trauma of almost losing their talismanic captain Eriksen. It's a wonder that they could even play with such fierce intensity in the second half. Danish coach: "The players could not imagine not being able to sleep tonight and to have to go on a bus tomorrow and play again. It was easier to go out and it was best to get it over with. "It's been a tough night. We are all reminded of what the most important thing in life is - to have valuable relationships, people we're close to, our family and our friends. "I couldn't be prouder of those people who took such good care of each other. He is one of my very dear friends. The way the players talked in the dressing room to decide to not do anything before we knew Christian was conscious and OK. "You can't play a game with such feelings. We tried to win. It was incredible they managed to go out and try to play the second half. "Honestly, there were players out there who were completely done. Emotionally done and emotionally exhausted. "All of our thoughts and prayers are with Christian and his family. He is one of our best players and one of the best players out there, but he is an even better person. "There are players who are completely emotionally exhausted. It was a traumatic experience. We talked about those feelings and it would've been OK to say 'no' if they didn't want to play. "Some of them were not able to play, some were ready. We just tried to do our best, but you can't play a football game at this level. It's not normal to play such a game when one of your friends is suffering with a heart issue. I cannot imagine playing a game like that. We are going to offer therapy sessions and there are people who will help us." UEFA could've handled the affair better. The ultimatum is quite unfair. Delaying the match to a much later date may cause scheduling problems, but that's still manageable (maybe get the other teams in the group to have certain matches held earlier, in order to fit the delayed match between the third round of group matches and RO16). I'm sure some of the players were thinking that karma alone would let them win the game, or that the momentum build from the first half was enough to break Finland, or that it's strategically better to get this game out of the way before the 'big' game against Belgium next. If I was the manager, I would've probably gone with playing the next day instead of continuing. Some players clearly looked 'mentally done' from their tearful faces after Eriksen collapsed (Delaney, especially). That said, it's a tough decision either way. It's a terrible shame, because Denmark had a real shot at performing well in the tournament. Kudos to Finland for their show in support and sportsmanship, but the win was fortuitous and undeserving. Coupled with the absence of Eriksen and the psychological impact of dropping 3 points against the weakest team in the group, I just don't see Denmark getting out the group (maybe sneaking in at third place, only to get thumped by a top team in RO16). Anyway, football takes the backseat. Get well, Eriksen and Denmark. 2021 may not be your year, but I'm sure you all will come back stronger in years to come!

It may be a bad idea to read too much into this is a complex medical condition, but I think there may be some silver lining that there doesn't seem to be any immediate need for repair surgery or such (that we know of). My best guess is that his heart itself is well capable of withstanding the sport, it's more of a pacing issue of some sort. But yeah, it's probably better to just be glad he's alive and recovering. The rest will follow at some point when the parties involved feel confident and comfortable talking about things.

Peter Schmeichel also has some strong views: "It's a ridiculous decision by Uefa." "They should have tried to work out a different scenario and shown a little bit of compassion, and they didn't." "That would be the worst two hours in my time in football." "Something terrible like that happens and Uefa gives the players an option to go out and play the game or come back at 12:00 on Sunday. What kind of option is that? "The result of the game is completely irrelevant. I mean, how can you play?"
