What if the 14 of them just ban the othrr 6 ? Dont they lose all the money for this season? The other 14 teams will be playing in a crippled league with no revenue power. The Premier League isn't worth 1/6th as much domestically, and basically nothing globaly without the top 6. Basically no one will pay to watch La Liga without Real Madrid and Barcelona. Only domestic viewers will pay for the Italian League without the big three... PSG is the only club in a win win situation if they join, thats a no brainer right there. The only domestic league worth anything will be the German one, though I wonder if RB Liepzig will join and reap the benifits of the only place in Germany you can watch the biggest clubs in the World. I'm just so dissapointed in Chelsea, somehow I thought it would miss us... will not watch a single game after this season, even with our european semifinal place this is a bitter pill to swallow. And my second favorite team, Inter Milan is in it too... So I guess, yay Leeds from now on until Chelsea reforms in the lower leagues? Though I might just stop watching non-Serbian football entirely. On the other hand this opens up some spots for more Serbian clubs in the CL. Nice. Leipzig already said they won't. Also I think you undervalue the PL without those clubs, especially if you just ban them now. The big clubs wouldn't be playing at all while the PL would have the moral high ground. Who will watch that league? Only the domestic market. Im sure some of you guys watch some tier two english championship games but that doesnt sell cable packets. Sure, protest views will be high at the beggining but the quality of football will take a sharp dive when the money stops flowing and the best players get poached for peanuts. I dont watch the Bundesliga and I still wont watch it after it becomes the top domestic league in the World. I've got my own Serbian league club a kilometer away from my appartment. Id rather go watch that with my son, eat seeds or something for two hours and watch my shitty league than watch someone elses shitty league. My two cents. German league isn't as shitty though Premiere league without the big 6 won't be as shitty as well. But in general I agree, I don't give a damn about teams outside of the big 6, if they're not there why would I watch? I wanna see big6 playing well and the others to try to beat them. I don't watch the rest to play the rest.

Also, my favorite reaction by far:
Edit: makes me wonder about the implications for football games in general. Will Konami snap up the Super league licence and FIFA 22 will have to use placeholder names? What a timeline

Although, it would be hilarious if they waited to be crowned champions and then joined the ESL.
That is actually being debated, if that is the exact thing they do.

why are a lot of people saying that they're leaving the national leagues? the press release clearly says they will continue to play in the national leagues. this is basically just replacing CL.

that's up to them, im just pointing out that everyone keeps saying that PL is doomed, la liga is going to have nothing, like all these clubs are leaving their national leagues to ONLY play in this super league, which they're not.

they are saying that because all the national leagues have to kick those clubs out to have any chance of surviving

This is going to be fun after PSG wins the Champions league and then they join the super league end of season.
I do agree with UEFA kicking the super league teams out of Champions League and also Europa League

If all English clubs get banned from Europe but they keep the big clubs in the league its still waaay more money for everyone. Think about it.
Edit: Kick England out of the World Cup, who cares, not like they were going to win it anyway. I imagine later the Super League will let a lot more clubs in with tiers and divisions and become a zombie Champions League

are they saying that because they think everyone will just watch the super league and not care about the national leagues? aren't some people saying that due to no relegation (for the founding clubs) that these games will just be boring games because nothing is at stake?

Take the premier league , winning it is more important to the fans then winning the CL for example , the domestic league is the bread and butter for the teams and their fanbases , i went to MANY CL games over the years and when its Barcelona or Real Madrid the crowd dominated by foreign fans coming for the show , the core of the fans are still domestic oriented , you can make the point that money wise you rather have rich foreign fans coming over , but the club as a whole will suffer with less and less fans.
Going the American ownership route is not a good idea for football in Europe and will shrink the overall popularity of the game as time goes on.
It will also be noted , that the domestic leagues have to take a stand NOW , otherwise if they allow it to go on , its just a matter of time before they will have an "England super league" forming out of the blue , where they will do a mini English league without the smaller teams , the medium size teams will have to go as they will want to face the bigger teams for the revenue it will generate both from tickets and broadcast rights.
Its basically a war about who owns the sport , is it run by the biggest clubs/owners or is it by some kind of governing body (with its own share of problems) , the current owners cares ONLY about THEIR money and THIER success while the governing body does have more broad strategy and appeal to the sport success as a whole , rather then very specific teams.

kinda wish we had packed fans in stadiums. i would pay extra money just to see woodward walk into old trafford as usual to watch a game and just get the shit kicked out of him by 70000 fans

The proposal of this shitshow has seen an admirable level of response thus far across the board.
Why stop at trying to stop this Super League? A combination of the big boys and their backers and the contempt they hold fans being displayed in a way I genuinely was surprised by, the impact of Corona on the wider finances of the game etc.
It’s taken this brazen move to get quite this level of fan fury in response, but much of this is not just about the Super League, that’s merely the worst example of the trends we’ve been seeing.
Surely with all this anger being unleashed and being taken seriously, many of us having stored it up but years now is the time to sit back and properly reform and protect the European club game?
Be it sportswashing, be it increasingly uncompetitive domestic leagues, be it clubs existing in the hinterland between domestic dominance and not having the money to perform at the European level, there’s tons of things fans have disliked for years, just it’s never felt game breakout enough to have fans really think about pulling away entirely.
Financial Fair Play was flawed in ways, it didn’t appear to be easy to enforce judgement vs legal challenges to rulings, and some clubs had a deep contempt for it, but for all the criticism UEFA get at least they tried it.
Time to go back to the drawing board, why not take the good stuff American sport does in salary controls and whatnot, and try to equalise the playing field where possible, rather than do what the Super League did, which is lift the closed shop and static team lineup.
That football can be dragged into such an almost universally unpopular move is the culmination of longstanding issues with the custodianship of the game, it doesn’t stand alone in that.
