Please dont portray UEFA as some kind of good organisation and heroes in this shit show, they are disgustingly corrupt and just a few years ago were bought down from the top due to how greedy and shit they are.
I hate the ESL idea, but i hate UEFA just as much they have always been corrupt as fuck from the core and always do everything for money, just look at what they announced today.....a 36 team Champs League and 10 matchday groupstage to milk more money for "more competition?" i doubt it.
Klopp just said it best here, the problem is always more games, more money simple as that. He was against this new champs league idea and it happened, he is against this super league idea and at the moment its happening but hopes he doesn't.
"My opinion didn’t change. Obviously I heard for the first time about it yesterday, and trying to prepare a game, a very difficult game against Leeds, and I knew so far we got some information, not a lot to be honest.
"Most of the things you more or else can read in newspapers or whatever.
"It’s a tough one. People are not happy about it, and I can understand that, but I cannot a lot more say about it because we were not involved in any processes, not the players not me, we didn’t know about it. That’s the case or the fact, the facts are out there. We will have to wait to see how it develops." I'm 53 years old and since I was a professional player the Champions League has been there.
“My aim was always to coach a team there so obviously I have no issues with the Champions League.
"I like the competitive factor of football and I like the fact West Ham might be in the Champions League next year. I don't want them to, because I want us to be, but I like that they have the chance to be.”

The point with the domestic leagues is that this proposal completely breaks the competition. Teams that qualify for CL or EL certainly have an economic advantage now, too - but that advantage is based on their performance, and teams can get the same advantage through stellar performances - and teams will lose these advantages through bad performances.
This proposes giving Arsenal 3x what the winner of the champions league gets every season, even if they're placing 10th domestically. Not to mention that if this was to become a thing, and it supplanted the CL, it'd also become the most prestigious league, obviously. Then every talent would want to play in it - and thus they'd also want to play for one of the top 6 money makers in the PL. Right now, a team like Leicester can often hold on to their talent/best players through qualifying for the CL. Harry Kane this season is one example - far more likely to leave Tottenham if they fail to qualify for the CL than if they make it.
It just permanently cements these 6 teams (in the PL) as the by far wealthiest teams, and it does the same for la liga and serie A. If permitted, all these teams would be major winners and every other team - and league - would be major losers. It can't be allowed to happen, and I'm entirely positive towards the harshest of sanctions, including bans from national competition.

Im seeing more and more comparisons to the european basketball situation that happened 20 years ago now. The biggest European leagues got together and formed their own EuroLeague, fucking over FIBA and the then continental competition to create a new league with some clubs having guarented spots forever.
FIBA tried everything but they didnt have the mechanisms or the money ULEB put together to stop it. The more I think about it the more I think its plausable for the top 6 leagues in Europe can tell the whole World to fuck off, we can make our own league, with blackjack. And hookers.
You can have 10 english, 10 italian, 10 spanish teams in europe every season throwing billions around and UEFA can do fuck all. The European Cup and the World cup are dead without them. They can make their own international cups and lure other national teams in with money.
Ro be honest the Super League should have hyped up some random reason for leaving UEFA like corruption or racisim and tried to take the 'fuck UEFA' highground to get sympathy. But all they talk about is money... Sometimes honesty is not the best policy

UEFA have been giving more money to the bigger teams in said competition for decades lol. The latest agreement is 30% of total revenue in Europe is given based on "History" performance in Europe rather than giving it to teams who finish 1st 2nd or 3rd in the competition lol.

I mean nobody is saying UEFA or FIFA are the good guys. That's part of what's impressive with this - being so fucking shitty that people look at UEFA and FIFA and go 'oh wow, in this case, they're actually the good guys'.

Yep, UEFA and FIFA aren't the good orgs here, but then again, there really isn't any good side here. UEFA might kick out the five teams still in European competitions as soon as tomorrow, and I believe they will

That is fine then but some comments in here saying "nice one UEFA, good on FIFA" is not right either, ESL is a joke, UEFA and FIFA are just corrupt awful governing bodies that needed to be rinsed out years ago and now all of a sudden get to be portrayed as "doing the right thing" that riles me up tenfold.
This ESL is not going to happen unless domestic leagues U Turn on banning them but i dont think they will be doing that.

This is what is annoying Klopp right now, his PLAYERS are being attacked for no reason at all and put into firing line, it is awful.

Laporta said some months ago that Super league was a bad idea. He was in electoral campaign (And Bartomeu had signed previously the club for Super League).
So right after the elections finish and he is elected Barcelona's president, Superleague is announced. Never trust political promises.
I'm really mad with the board now, they are shit looking only for money.

his players could say something. I read bruno fernandes has given a reaction, thats more than any other player they usually love to be vocal and now suddenly silent?

Because they will do it internally, Carragher just said that when Hicks and Glazier were doing awful things he was going crazy inside but on the outside still fighting for the shirt and playing well etc but he was attacking them from the inside.
Bruno just made a little picture post saying "Dreams cant be buy" in response to Podence saying u cant buy Zidane volley or Kaka solo run goal etc which is correct. He hasn't said fuck glaziers or fuck yanited xD

I'd like for the managers and players to stand up for themselves. I know they can't right away, and they have to take stock and think about it, but this has put the managers and players in a position of having to choose between fans and their careers, which are not things they should have to choose. What would it be if the players come out against this, loyalty to fans or disloyalty to the club? They are in an impossible situation. I'd love it if they all just find a legal way to quit their clubs though.

Yeah im sure they will but not until the closed season, i can see Klopp leaving in the summer if the outcry is so big and he doesn't agree with it. Same way i can see players asking to leave too if that is the case as well, but they are not going to go on strike now and lose on purpose to Leeds or go on strike when in 3 weeks time the ESL is scrapped and they are now no hope in getting top 4 lol xd

These are the Top 10 football clubs in Europe. Only caveat is that it's Top 10 indebted (2020 source).
1. ManU 568,000,000 € (SL) 2. Spurs 483,000,000 € (SL) 3. Inter Milan 461,000,000 € (SL) 4. Atlectico Madrid 384,000,000 € (SL) 5. Juventus 372,000,000 € (SL) 6. Fenerbace 334,000,000 € 7. AS Rome 312,000,000 € 8. Valencia 272,000,000 € 9. AC Milan 260,000,000 € (SL) 10. Brighton 260,000,000 €
Half of the founding members are deeply in the red. ManU and Juventus are stock traded too. Money is the lure these clubs are following. Not the tool they are using to get more money.

They have some good people and ideas, have many bad folks and corruption there too.
In light of the impact of the pandemic for all its faults FFP has probably prevented a lot of insolvency, I think the Nations League was a good idea for many of the middling nations in Europe as well.
Who knows what UEFA do in a vacuum, at least this particular reformat of the Champions League has clearly been the result of the big boys leveraging pressure, only to break away anyway. Attempts to spread the cash in CL distribution likewise run up against the usual suspects.
Fans aren’t immune from blame here either. As I’ve already alluded to FFP had its flaws, but I don’t recall many Man City fans criticising their club when they got exposed not just trying to break those limits, but for having contempt for such rules to begin with. Much more ‘UEFA are out to get us’ rhetoric.
Klopp is correct, for the most part. Having more games is partly what you get if you’re an elite club. When football was more competitive, doubles much less trebles and quadruples weren’t nearly as commonplace.
Excluding world club cups etc from memory, United have done the treble once, Bayern twice, Inter once, Barca I think twice since I’ve been an aware football watcher. I’m sure there are some historical ones but I can’t recall any off the top of my head. Never mentioning mere doubles, I think Pep did that almost all of his Bayern seasons, City did the domestic treble etc.
That indicates a growing competitive disparity, if other teams frequently can’t, or often don’t really try to compete in the cups (especially true in the PL for sides who are at risk of relegation) you’re going to advance pretty far on multiple fronts and add on games. United’s treble wasn’t a fluke, but it was seat of the pants stuff and they could conceivably have ended up with nothing (like Leverkusen’s triple runner up of 2000/2001), more recent ones have felt much more genuinely reflective of dominant side.
This isn’t to say that the amount of games played isn’t something to be looked at of course, but it’s generally a first world problem the bigger clubs have.
Unfortunately for Klopp his employer doesn’t give a fuck about what he or the fans value and he’s stuck in this awkward position having to comment. First the furlough fiasco, now this much bigger issue. Before that the pressure to expand the CL with this new format, all of which run directly counter to what Klopp and his players and the wider fanbase would want.
