Also, with the rate we go through players, having QBs with actual game experience is pretty important. Wanting to get traded and getting traded are two completely different things. There is just no way imaginable that it is better to get Sudfield those key minutes over hurts. Hurts might top out as your Backup, but sudfield is at max going to top out as your back up and there is a strong chance he won't even be there next year. Now is picking higher worth it, probably. It is just lame to pretend it was about anything other than losing. And BTW I was getting insulted for saying the Eagles should have traded Wentz after the superbowl since he was the most valued asset in the league and IMO way over valued. Not to mention the aging team and how valuable picks are and how crushing a expensive QB contract could be. It is just that I think we know at this point that Sudeld, a 27 year old 6th round who was 3rd string is not the answer. You don't know if Hurts is or isn't. Crunch time is when you find those things out. The thing about the Eagles trading Wentz at that time is I don't think people would have ended up giving as much as you think. Something that looks like the Bears trade for Khalil Mack + maybe an extra 2nd is what happens because of the injury. And, if they take that deal and he went to a place like the Colts, SF, or its a Wentz-Goff + picks swap sort of situation, I think Wentz probably does pan out into a situation where everyone memes on the Eagles for a decade. Its kinda like if the Colts had traded Luck in 2017. It would look like genius right now. Wow 2 firsts for a guy out of the league! But in a lot of scenarios the change of scenery would have really improved everything surrounding his mentality and situation, and then you are the team that traded Pat Mahomes' only rival in the AFC for a half decade. I mean was a high risk move no doubt. I think you get a lot more for the QB since the league overrates them so hard (IMO) and at that time, before mahomes, Wentz was thought of like that. To me he was a over valued asset because well the potential was there, he had some injury concerns, he was a bit reckless and you knew his contract was going to be crazy high. You would need to know what actual offers were out there since 1 first or 5 firsts or anything in between totally changes the calculus. But I think very few QB's live up to their contracts so if you can get a bunch of cost controlled talent you should do it.
He was playing at an MVP level before he got injured. Gambling that he is going to regress this hard is a bad move.
It takes years to learn the qb position with all its nuances. Chances are, your qb is almost done with his rookie contract by the time he is competent in the position. I have yet to see an NFL team attempt to go all in on Lamar Jackson types as their qb and run them into the ground by the time their rookie contract ends.

Cam is probably out after this season. Who's gonna start for the Patriots? And does BB retire?

This has to be the weirdest possible comment

How so? Rumor is Cam is out after a disappointing season (he only had the one year contract). And does BB still want to coach a new 10yr project?

I'm pretty shocked Trevor Lawrence came in 2nd. Career/prospect rating votes I guess
don't think Calvin will be first ballot but he'll get in since the hall has looked more favorably on shorter careers lately

Wayne/Peyton getting in in the same class would be really awesome to see.

the hottest discussion topics on reddit seem to be
"Who gave Cole Beasley a vote for All Pro?" and "How did Cole Beasley and DK Metcalf end up with the same number of votes"
"How was Derrick Henry not unanimous?"
The Derrick Henry question has been answered by one of the three voters who voted for Alvin Kamara saying that Henry was too much of a liability in the passing game to be the all pro back

I can't wait for the day there's a Nebraska player being named on that list. Feels like a lifetime since I've seen one up there.
