edit: Oops, it's a multi-year contract, not just this year.
Apparently KMag kept a good relationship with Haas the last year or so, which made this easier for them all.

Merc have shown up with a new car. This time ft. or well, sans sidepods. Quick analysis from not an aero engineer. Downwash from the mirror mount (aka upper side impact structure) forces air down into what used to be the sidepod area, and pushes the front tire wake outwards and away from the rear tires. What it does beyond that, I have no fucking idea.

It's been interesting watching all of the F1 tech people be completely puzzled by the Mercedes and, to a lesser extend, the Williams since they're both doing very bizarre things with their sidepod area. Rather than deleting their sidepod altogether like Mercedes did, Williams turned their sidepods into a tunnel that they can control the airflow out of. The one engineer I listened to talk about them suggested that these two designs could have big drawbacks but if controlled correctly could also be incredibly powerful. Knowing Mercedes, they've probably got a pretty good understanding of how to utilize this design.

It seems like they might actually have issues with their car this year but because they exaggerated their problems every other year it's just assumed they're lying. People dont believe anything they say, because literally everything they say is always filled with lies and bullshit, distortion. They are a lot like russians, they accuse others of their own behaviour. Oh Hamilton is such a fair and clean driver, really I wonder what Albon thinks of that after having been robbed of 2 podiums. Verstappen is so dangerous, after they literally ram him of the road twice in a row. And yeah last year, we are so weak, our car is slow, after testing, and then win 3 of the 4 first races. Whatever let them be 1 second faster than everyone else with everyone else being close to each other so we can watch some fun/close racing without them in view.

I'm trying to remember which season it was (I think 2016?) where in a race the leading Merc was like 10 seconds ahead of the other and the other was also like 10+ seconds ahead of third place, so they just didn't show the Mercedes cars for the extreme majority of the race and talked about the race from third place downwards. At the end they were like "oh by the way Hamilton won" and the in-lap was the most they'd shown of his car the whole race. It was pretty amusing.

Some young guns fighting in the midfield, Ferrari - Red Bull and other teambattles and a Mercedes that no one cared about.

It didn't need to be complicated. I don't know why Masi always felt the need to overcomplicate nearly everything.
