Btw, is anyone still having negative thoughts about the Halo? Max's tire was resting on Hamilton's head and the halo there. That could easily have been a lethal accident without it

I dont think they will give either a penalty, it was almost identical to lap one, Lewis bailed and Max didn't. Go McLaren!!!!!

It's wild to think of 2015-2016 McLaren compared to this. They made so much progress on pretty much every front. It's great to see Danny Ric back to his old self. McLaren's pace here looked genuine too. They even got fastest lap at the end. Lewis and Max crashing helped with the 1-2 but Ricciardo's pace was such that the win wasn't really ever a question so long as he didn't make any mistakes. He kept Max at bay for like half the race and won on merit rather than luck. I definitely recommend Ricciardo's post-podium interview with Rachel Brookes on Sky. It ended up being like a 5+ minute interview and he got very introspective on everything. It's easy to tell that this win means the world to him after the struggles he's had after the last few years. He also talked about how he hasn't been able to visit his family for over a year, which has made things even tougher for him at times.

This is going to be the incident of the hybrid era eclipsing Rosberg WDC win in 2016 imo WTF!?

We're definitely lucky Hamilton's ok. There's a photo circulating showing Verstappen's rear tire brushing over top of Hamilton's head and pushing it down a bit as the tire rolled along the halo. Without the halo there, it probably could have broke his neck. Hamilton said that he was sore from it as is. I also realized that Danny Ric getting a podium means that he gets to drive Dale Earnhardt's championship winning 1987 NASCAR car, since Zak Brown offered him that as a reward if he gets a podium this year.

This penalty leaves me more bewildered than ever about what the actual rules are regarding incidents in corners. Maybe that’s just me not understanding, but it feels like there’s total inconsistency of enforcement, which seems particularly bad considering how scary dangerous a lot of recent incidents in corners have been. You have to imagine drivers are putting a fair amount of thought into what types of collisions tend to wreck their race vs. their rivals’, and how they can keep collisions in the latter category. Silverstone was a penalty for Hamilton and this was a penalty for Verstappen, but this was still a massively better outcome for Verstappen. It’s hard to imagine a competitive mind not thinking about how to control that. People probably always thought about it some, but when title rivals are both talking a Senna-like “either you back out or we crash” attitude, a rule like “they have to leave your room” is small comfort. Most likely they’ll just not, put you in a wall, and maaaaybe take a 5s penalty on the way to becoming WDC. It’s going to be harder for me to celebrate whoever wins this season, considering the outcome is so dependent on weird penalties, a 2 lap race entirely under safety car, etc. I have to hope someone pulls out a big enough point lead that it won’t feel like it was decided by that stuff.

Guess it’s the ver-ham show; Not if anything even a mention of bottas or Perez; this race seemed to be about nr.2 drivers

Max absolutely lost his cool after that moronic pit stop and it was obvious he would not have any of it once he faced Hamilton, which is exactly what happened. Both contenders out of the race while keeping status quo and the best team out of these 2 scoring a double while perez-bottas-ferrari trying to challenge them ... oh man i missed this feeling. And thank god everyone's OK, halo strikes again. How did we ever race without halos?!
