(To be fair to him, the Red Bull's straight line speed is probably just too good for Ferrari still despite all the adjustments Ferrari made) Both McLarens have mechanical issues it sounds like. Ricciardo's got handling problems losing him time and Norris's engine is broken. Was only a small advantage on the hards, which really isn't enough with how few laps were left. They would've needed 40+ laps for them to really fall off, and then he might've had a small window. Not sure if he had any mediums left, but a gamble on mediums or maybe even softs(pass and then tire save like crazy) would've probably been better. Even Leclerc couldn't overtake the midfield without a tire offset, so passing Verstappen would've definitely required mediums or softs.

There was genuinely nothing to lose by putting on mediums or softs and being ultra aggressive. If they entangle, it would benefit Leclerc massively, so Max would likely have yielded a few more inches than usual as well

Putting on softs with 21 laps to go is stupid, even with the safety car cutting that down to 16 laps of racing. They did it all right this time, RB simply has a better car and/or driver.

Some people are just a bit too quick to judge, like hyping up Mercedes for the next race again even though they finished where they do every race really. If Perez and Leclerc didn't have their problems and if there wasn't a safety car they would've finished 5th and 6th 30s behind or so.

Idk which broadcast you guys watch but this was covered on mine, kinda annoying to see every 5th redditor come up with "WHY DID SAINZ NOT GET MEDIUMS OMG FERRARI PLS". Fair enough, I didn't catch that with the sky commentators. But that, in and of itself, is a strategy decision. They decided to use up all their mediums except one set before the race. That's on Ferrari as well

I mean I don’ t like Hamilton, I think he is not a good driver, he just got the best deal at the time and Mercedez privileged him. That is why I believe he is being beaten by Russell, who has a ton less experience. Russell is by far a better driver. Also piquet shows off his ignorance, of people thinking that being racist is somewhat acceptable by any means. Sad to see that a F1 world champion thinks and talks like that. That you can judge someone by the colour of his skin. That they make that kind of difference. A person should be judged by how he drives, and if anything his team. Anything else is just dumb and stupid. Grow up.

It's not dissimilar to what F1 keeps doing with Jos Verstappen where they're pushing the "He's Max's dad!" angle while conveniently ignoring that Jos has a series of credible assault allegations against him and how some of the stories about how he treated Max as a kid essentially describe child abuse. It's gross seeing people spin his treatment of his son as essentially "wow he was a tough coach when Max was a kid" when the reality was that he was a grown adult who left a young child on the side of the road because he lost a go-kart race. As for Sainz tire thing, I don't recall Sky mentioning Sainz not having medium tires left either. For more intense parts of the race they tend to focus on what is happening on the track instead of anything else. Though that's kind of been Sky's thing lately. Nowadays Croft seems to care more about potential controversy and steering the narrative to try to make the race interesting than actually conveying useful information about the race. If it's a sleepy part of the race they may give out useful information but that's it.

Also Ben, from what I've seen about the relationship between Max and his father, nothing really indicates anything that would qualify as abuse. Max certainly doesn't seem to think so. It's deceptive to state Max was stranded for not winning a race, you should really watch the whole documentary/ interview where this comes up. Still bad parenting in my book as well but I don't really know these people so I try not to judge too quickly. Can we please leave this drama crap on reddit and other social media and just talk about the actual sport on this site?

F1, and especially some of the media groups related to F1, rehabilitate the images of people who they probably shouldn't and then it blows up in their faces when the person reminds the world that they're awful. I only mentioned Jos Verstappen because he's been talking to the media more and more recently and saying a lot of increasingly outlandish things. Most new F1 fans don't know about Jos' past or the series of serious domestic violence allegations against him. Jos is one boneheaded statement away from putting F1 in an incredibly uncomfortable bind, much like F1 is in right now with Piquet. F1 has a history of tip-toeing around the fact that, especially in the past, there have been some really bad people involved with the sport. Rather than ever addressing it or doing anything concrete about it, like Hamilton is saying should be done, they've always said they'll do better but then they never do anything and the problematic people keep showing up at F1 races. Piquet and Jos Verstappen are far from the only problematic people in F1. To their credit, F1 has banned Piquet from attending races now, which is more than they've done in the past.

He has had an amazing career, beat several world champion teammates and won in every single year he has been in F1, and some of those cars were not good at all, especially 2009. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins with this car too. As for this year, I'd say he has struggled more than most with the bouncing and he has also had quite a bit of bad luck. His pace has been pretty much the same as Russell.

He is willing to keep same tyres untill there is a safety car.He is willing to risk a soft tyre to get the Pole. And so far it worked for him to the point that Lewis is trash to the viewers.

Piquet and Jos Verstappen are far from the only problematic people in F1. To their credit, F1 has banned Piquet from attending races now, which is more than they've done in the past. Sigh. Jos Verstappen wrote a blog about how he wished RB pitted Max before Checo in Monaco whilst admitting he is obviously biased as a father. This was completely taken out of context on social media and by tabloid level YT channels and prompted a wave of hate towards the guy and by association to his son as well. Should "F1" have done anything about that? The matter about the domestic violence is serious of course but it was dealt with by the law and happened a long time ago. Should F1 still cancel him for that now? Because he wrote a blog about something completely unrelated? Should people, like you, just join the bandwagon and, idk, suggest Max was abused by his father as well? The guy gets asked a question from time to time and he occasionally writes a blog, the same amount he has always done. There is no "more and more" or "increasingly outlandish things" it's the same it's always been, there was just a made up controversy about it a while back. And now someone brought up this thing about Piquet that is real, but was known about for a year already which is at the very least weird. It's also kinda telling you brought up last weeks drama on top of this weeks' tbh and I wished you hadn't. I was happy to see this crap not being posted here but alas. Now let's talk about the upcoming race where several teams bring big upgrades, gonna be interesting no doubt. Edit: Added Ben's post

He was immediately competitive when he entered the sport which says a lot. I don't think he's necessarily the best though as the stans (and people who can't see past stats) are claiming and it's entirely possible he met his match in Russel or more than even.

Another life undeniably saved by the Halo. That would have been such a nasty accident without it And, yet again, we see how absolutely atrocious those sausage curbs are. How in the world did we ever come to the conclusion that tracks should have curbs that launches vehicles into the air?
