I will rate Scholes ahead of them. It was a pity that the 3 of them (later 2 when Scholes retired) didn't work well together. If only 1 of them, maybe Gerrard, would have played as a defensive midfielder instead. But there is a lot of what if for the mid 00s England squad.

7 weeks. 630 minutes. Record keeps going.

crystal palace not scoring?

Ay I think the main issue with england failures were the coaches. I mean look at how barely played Wilshere was preferred over title winning Drinkwater for euro 2016, how a slot was given to zero experience Walcott etc...of course england not having a fit Owen Hargreaves was a blow too.

ya. 0-0-7, 0-17 after 7 games. pretty amazingly poor start. Kinda happy about it personally, or at least, happy about the quick manager sack not leading to any improvement. Thought it was kinda ridiculous how de boer was sacked after the burnley game, which they totally dominated.

Chelsea getting made to look very silly by City at the moment. Champions league hangover with Morata having to go off shame.
Oh well, for all City "possession" we have equal shots on goal and Tibo only had one testing save, so that's a slight postive!

In that period yes, Iniesta and Xavi are different to Gerrard and Lampard. Lampard and Gerrard were Messi/Ronaldo level carrying their teams with goals, assists and everything. Iniesta and Xavi fantastic passers of ball and in Iniesta case didn't score no where near as much as Gerrard and Lampard. They were by far imo the best in the game during what 2004-2012 ish maybe 2010.
Deserved loss that one i guess wtf are Chelsea doing and for once, Conte got everything wrong in that game lol. Willian coming on for Morata was dumb as Willian has been our worst player all season. Taking off Hazard to bring on the striker and pedro was also stupid. Oh well. No league title for us this season it seems.

the fact that you think lampard and gerrard were better because they scored more goals just means you were also part of the reason why england sucked shit. managers couldnt even choose scholes/carrick kinds of players because theyd get flamed to fking shit for not putting in the goal scoring CMs rofl

No that is wrong, Lampard and Gerrard could have played together properly. Both Lampard and Gerrard became top defensive midfielders afterwards. Not the best in the world in that position either, but factual those 2 midfielders are the greatest pure central midfielders in their time of around 2004-2010/2. Scholes was great but he wasn't the all round game of Lampard and Gerrard.
England didn't have a manager that played anything other than 4-4-2 in which those two players do not fit into together. Gerrard played LM from like 2004-2008? Then eventually moved into a 4-3-3 and they tried but still didn't work.
Carrick is not even world class, he is just good, in Spain there are 1000 Carrick esc midfielders just in England he stands out because we don't make passing deep lining midfielders.

yeah why do u think spain breeds carrick like players...because they understand that football is a passing game, not just belt shots into goal. 4-4-2 was fine. utd played 4-4-2 mainly and dominated with it. scholes and carrick was in the middle. gerrard and lampard were good players but they werent optimal selections for the team and should have been overlooked. the only problem was they had too much name value and managers would risk losing their jobs simply because the media could stir up so much shit about how goal scoring mids werent played. tbh england should have fielded pretty much the utd team when they could have. if it worked for club why wouldnt it work for country

Wow outplayed outclassed. Disagree with conte selection. Putting Dave in wingback effectively means one flank is useless. I think zappacosta should have started instead, dropping either rudiger or Cahill.
For some reason yesterday, baka looked like the DM and kante the box to box player. Somehow only when baka left and kante played DM, that the latter began to win balls again.
Morata's injury was unfortunate. Think conte was banking on hazard morata to link up together to create chances. Morata looked sharp and was a good focal point in the attack. You could see how frustrated hazard was when fab/willian kept wasting possession.
No idea why willian was sub in. Pedro is speedier and trickier, good for games when chances need to be created our of nothing. He didn't do anything right that game.
This game also exposed our problem with Christensen. He played very well, solid defensively too. But he is no replacement to David luiz. He is not a ball playing defender. Several times he tried to bring the ball out but wasted the long pass. Often he also had to pass backwards. If only David luiz wasn't so stupid against arsenal....
Oh and obligatory bats rant. One moment in the game sums up why I dislike him. A nice long ball for him in which he somehow was given time and space to control. But nope he decides to do a fancy chest for his teammate and gave away the ball. Either that or it was horrible ball control. Bats tries way too many fancy flicks and passes. Sometimes he needs to keep it simple, and also work on his first touch. Actually no just leave the club.
[Edit]
Actually I feel we played well defensively, but city was better. Not bitter in losing to them, just disappointed with our approach.

Kagawa most scoring Japanese player in the Bundesliga now! :D His goal yesterday was beautiful

Just tuned in to Barcelona vs Las Palmas and I was like why the fuck is the stadium empty, am I watching the wrong game or something. Turns out the game will be played behind closed doors due to the protests. So weird seeing an empty stadium, seems play a training game.

You can hear every shout by managers and players.

Btw, if Asensio enters a longer goalless period after the shaving incident, does that make him some modern day Samson?
