Get yourself Bakayoko 2.0 offense version. Pande is also all hot and shit for Andy fucking Carroll so clearly his standard is questionable
Andy Carroll is quality and underrated though. Sad he is hampered by injuries and doesn't fit into top teams' main playstyle.
I think most blues fans are just glad bakayoko is injured. Else this 1-1 would not have been possible.

After Will Griggs lighting up FA cup with his inner fire, I come to you with the latest drama from the Portuguese football.
Unfortunately Portuguese football is approaching the level of Scottish football, with the difference that we have 3 top teams.
We were already known for being a 3 teams centered championship with only one title (EVER) from a team other than Porto, Sporting or Benfica. But the difference between the teams is only getting more accentuated which is, imho, screwing up portuguese football.
This season the top 3 teams played 34 home games (removing the games between them) and the record is 33 Wins and 1 draw. We are getting to the point where the odd draw in a away game can give the championship to the other team...
And with this brief introduction i'll get to the point of this post. Earlier this week, portuguese football witnessed the most shameful "robbery" since the 90's.
You all know the the Famous "Until United Scores" games at Old Trafford, but the stoppage times were normally somewhat justifiable. Sporting Lisbon just got it to a new level.
The game was Tondela vs Sporting. It was a fairly even game considering the teams. The game was tied at 1-1 at the 90 minutes mark and the referee gave 4 minutes of stoppage time.
It was a very fast paced stoppage time, as expected since sporting was trying to score a goal with very little to no breaks in the gameplay. At 93:30 a player from Tondela was rolling on the floor with all the sporting supporters "booing" him for trying to lose time. At 93:41, the referee stopped the game so the player could get medical attention.
So, the referee stopped the game at 19 seconds to the theoretical end of the game. The game resumed, after the medical assistance and the player leaving the field, at 96:08.
So we would expect that the game should end at 96:30 to round the things a bit, or perhaps at 97:00 (and the referee had plenty of chances to end the game with the ball leaving the field 1 or 2 times.
Needless to say that Sporting scored a goal at 98:01, 2 minutes after the game resumed.
The cherry of top of this shit cake?
This was the reason why the player was "pretending to be injured"

It wasn't even awarded a foul...
And we have VAR. VAR is a fucking disgrace, and it's just one more way to corrupt the game...

I mean if you have VAR and it wasnt used properly thats not VARS problem, atleast not the idea of it. Cars have many essential benefits, but if you drive it off a bridge simply because you werent looking, thats not the cars fault.
We have VAR, we didnt use it, VAR is bad. Fuck that corrupt shit. Are you kidding?
For me its existing is simply highlighting how atrocious the standard of officiating is.

VAR is terrible now, but this is the first season being tested in mayor leagues. It still can be improved a lot. It is not like actual VAR is the final version.
|
It's the shameless people using VAR improperly who are, and always were, terrible. VAR itself should always help, the problem is the cheaters trying to prevent it and even using it in corrupt ways.
|
VAR at it's very worst is still an improvement over not having VAR at all, at least in germany. Most of the criticism here is that it isn't just enough which is just absurd and that apparently you cannot celebrate goals anymore because they might get overruled, which you know never happened with offside goals before VAR... In the short term they just need to make VAR presentation/decisions in stadium better and make it take less time. If you want to have the referee look at shit himself do it immediately and don't talk to him for 2 minutes first.
Oh and ffs someone stop the crowding of the referee. Preferably in general but especially after VAR usage.

The Juventus documentary is now on Netflix.

I'm very curious to see how ManU does vs Sevilla. Throughout the whole season all the ManU stuff I've seen has felt sort of underwhelming, but they seem to be putting up passable results nevertheless. Now we'll see how it works in high stakes game where the opponent might be more prepared than in a regular league game.

Mourinho teams, so fun to watch as always.
De Gea is awesome. That unreal save.
|
Who the hell loves Mourinho style of play? Impossible to watch more then for 15 minutes
Shakhtar v Roma on the other hand looks promising
|
This United Sevilla game is a real hum dinger. Really made my post lunch procrastination time at work fly by.
Matic is a beast though.
|
If football continues to evolve some day in the future maybe there will be a court of crime against the sport and then finally Mourinho will have to answer for games like today
|
Even my shitty highschool team kids were coached into always having a hand on your man or having the spatial awareness to stay close and infront. The ball has to go to him for him to go into it so regardless of where you think it might go stay ahead of your guy and you are gold. Its like the very basics they teach at all levels.
Smalling be like, "you telling me to be a basic bitch?" let me show you real spatial awareness.
De Gea is like a living chastity belt at this point for all of Uniteds indiscretions.

Just to give another atrocious example of the Portuguese VAR.
This happened 3 hours ago. Porto was playing Estoril and by the 52nd minute Porto was losing 1-0.
Then this happened:

The problem with VAR is that when people are corrupt you can't do anything about it but now it will just become more blatantly obvious.
To corroborate Rebs, the linesman didn't see this atrocious offside.
So the referee asked VAR about it and the goal was validated. I was seeing the game with a Porto supporter and when he saw the replay he said instantly "fuck, the guy is offside the goal will be overuled"
Then Portuguese football happened.
I'm tired of this corrupt football..

If anything maybe people will start to ask more questions now as to why the decisions are still so bad if VAR is in use.

Exactly, VAR by itself is a tool, that was made to avoid critical mistakes

Which people will start to ask more questions?
Porto supporters are like this for 30 years. Sporting supporters don't care as long as Benfica doesn't win. Benfica supporters have a lot on their mind since all the internal emails from the club for the.last 9 seasons have been hacked and leaked.
So Portuguese football is worse than a Mexican soap opera.
