I’m thinking Arizona or Jacksonville Theres a chance he ends up exactly where he started this year - backing up Wentz. under contract for another year still.

Eagles should trade Wentz to the Browns. They could get Foles on a team friendly deal which would allow them to keep and incredible team around him. I would expect they could get something like both clevs firsts their second and there first next year for Wentz. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, and no. never. You do not trade the franchise goddamn quarterback after his second year in which he wouldve been mvp if not for injury. not now, not ever. I love nick foles for what he just did but FUCK and NO to everything you just said. no.
It's going to be amazing to watch what the Eagles do with their QB situation.
Foles just won you a God damn Super Bowl by playing almost as well as the GOAT.
50% chance that they go all-in on Foles and it blows up in their faces. Oh shit that would be amusing.

Its not gonna happen. I honestly cant explain what I just saw Nick Foles do in this playoff run but you're not stepping away from a guy that you traded up to the number 2 draft slot for and have invested your future in. You cant measure the value of Carson Wentz in speculative draft picks, not after what we saw him do this season.

It would not ever, ever, ever be smart to trade away your 25 year old franchise quarterback after an MVP season.
also your argument makes no sense, JG is exactly the equivalent of Wentz that every team wishes they could have. A young franchise QB.
The team is better with a young franchise quarterback, end of story. I honestly dont know what you do with nick foles anymore. If he wants to go play somewhere as a starter, hes the guy that you would trade. His value will never be higher.

Sticking with Wentz is the only right choice imo, Foles' future ought be left in his hands, he's earned that much.

If Wentz has another season like this one, any future hamstringing concerns belong exactly there, in the future after the team makes another Super Bowl run.
The idea that Foles is a safe bet in any regard ignores the full scope of a season and the extent to which Wentz vastly outperforms him with that in mind.

Because in 1 year you will have to pay him some stupid amount to keep him and it will hamstring the rest of your franchise. With Foles you have a mediocre player you can cost control and surround with the bounty you get from wentz. Which will make what the redskins paid for RG3 look cheap! But if you're guessing what they will do you are right pick up a high second or late first for foles.
The argument isn't that Foles is better then Wentz it is that he is going to be way cheaper, you get WAY WAY WAY more for Wentz and you can win with a mediocre Foles surrounded by elite talent. Youre getting cute. dont get cute. Wentz is the guy.
Also agree with you farv, if Foles wants to go start somewhere then ile give the guy the biggest hug I can manage on the way out the door. Ile love him for this forever but I dont think I could ask him to sit on the bench in good faith. Hes earned another shot to start somewhere.

As a further to this discussion, you can find talent anywhere, it doesnt need to be a high draft pick. Sure it would be nice to have 3 picks in the first round but we saw an undrafted tight end throw a TD last night (Trey Burton). We also saw an undrafted running back pick up a few key first downs and catch a TD (Corey Clement).
The idea of subtracting a franchise QB with the hopes of improving elsewhere doesnt hold up for me. Be happy that you have a great young quarterback and seek the best talent available to you elsewhere, it is there to be found.

One way or another, it'll be fun to watch where Foles goes and see if he can replicate his recent performance.

Looking at the map snapchat stories and people in Phillie waking up glad that their building is still standing.

No. I would argue that a great quarterback is among the most valuable commodities in all of sports. Subtracting that from your team is just such a huge step backward no matter what you do with the other positions.
|
The bigger point is that this is an argument that is actually being had.
Regardless of the correct decision, the fact that the Eagles may dump Wentz for Foles and then have Foles regress back to who he was would be endlessly amusing to watch.
|
One thing to keep in mind with Foles is how much help he had. That Eagles team was loaded with talent, and Pederson is an excellent coach.

amen to that brother, amen.

There is no way I'm trading Wentz for that kind of bounty. Running backs and linebackers (especially inside) are easily gotten in the later rounds. I'm keeping Wentz even if Barry Sanders plus two first rounders are available. Only positions I'm maybe willing to do that kind of trade are DE, CB and LT.

Yup. Part of it also comes to the Pats playcalling being very different if they have a 33-32 lead instead of being down 38-33.
