The irony is that a team like Ajax would probably among the absolute top teams now if a European super league would have been established like 20 years ago. The small domestic league is what kept Ajax from growing financially like other top clubs from the old era. Partially, sure. But managerial incompetence is also to blame. There doesn't seem to be any reason Portugal and Ukraine consistently do better, and Czech Republic, Belgium, Turkey and Switzerland have overtaken NL in the UEFA club coefficient ranking. Clearly there is more wrong with Dutch football than just a "small domestic league".

Yes there's more to it than a small league but his point is still correct. Clubs from small countries are incredibly limited by their league.

and there it was, the Gizmo memorial dodgy call that denies Sporting a goal against a German team
|
he blocked the goal keeper in the 5m zone sooooo i dunno kev you can call it for sure. sporting's defence on the other hand is pathetic
|
Spurs comfortably outplaying Leverkusen but no goal to show for it, thanks to Leno and the crossbar.
edit: Leverkusen now dominating the second half, somehow still 0-0. Kiessling goes down easier than Drogba, unbelievable.
edit 2: I can't believe it finished 0-0, exciting game and a tale of two halves.

I'm sorry but Pep is beyond me....this football style he plays makes no sense when he starts putting AGUERO...on the bench in favour of playing DeBruyne striker in a false 9!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy shit that sanchez goal

I hope for Sanchez' own sake that he is going to stay at Arsenal. He evolved so much since he joined them

Well it was kinda competitive till some unlucky ricochets and Fernandinho with the horroshow of a slip.
But that can happen when you play Pep style pressing Defense and your press gets broken. Its high risk footy against a team like Barca, but atleast the games happen.
But yeah sometimes there are individuals who are beyond the system and for City Aguero is one of them. I strongly disagree with his choice there.

Yeah i can understand 4-3-3 false 9 but i don't understand it when the best player in the whole squad is the guy u putting on bench for it. Aguero is so good plus he offers passing and movement more than holding the ball up etc etc just crazy crazy to me!

best player in the whole squad is playing the false nine... No way Aguero is more important than De Bruyne. And obviously both should play.

Aguero is 100x better and more important than DeBruyne was in the last 10 seasons in world football let alone Man City alone!

He's maybe not 100% physically, who knows. I think he needed to choose between De Bruyne and Aguero anyway, since neither of them could play on the wing against Barcelona...
Even game until now... Barça will have no option for substitutions but Silva and Fernandinho have a yellow already and can't be replaced easily. Can make for a more entertaining second half.
