The working theory by optimistic Niners fans is that the Niners believed that the Seahawks were targeting Garnett, hence the move.

the latest rumor I saw is that they wanted a QB last night in the 1st for the 5th year option but since they couldnt get a trade done they're going for a pass rusher in the 2nd now
