The Raps are only an end of the season collapse away from becoming a true Toronto team. they benefited from a home heavy schedule against weak teams playing in the atlantic division. they've pretty much been the same team since the day rudy gay was traded. last year they got knocked out of the playoffs by a team that went on to get destroyed by miami in the next round. miami then went on to get destroyed in the finals. last year's playoff performance shows you just how far away they are from being a championship contender. the raptors are no where near a championship contending team and never were. they are a slightly above average team. i was laughed at for saying this on December 22nd. As the losses pile up people are beginning to see the light. 47 wins in the weakest division of the NBA with the weakest possible schedule makes you a slightly above average team. the raptors are doing this year approximately the same thing they did last year. people pointing to this big important "point differential" advanced stat as some indicator of Raptor greatness need to realize that the raptors get to play Boston, New York and Philly more than any other .500+ team in the NBA. the raptors are not in a slump right now. since december 22nd the competition is better. they are the same. | ||
