For those who say no, what if OKC falls 15 games behind .500?
I have them 10-24 by end of December (without WB and Durant). They'd have to go 40-8 to make 50 wins from there which would likely be enough for about 8th in the West.

If he's not injured i can see him get 30/10/4/3/3 with 1 turnover at his prime. he is putting up amazing lines every night but there's still, as amazing as this sounds, a ton of room for growth there. more strength and defensive tutoring will make him a one man team. still, he is literally their offense. 113 ortg on court, 94 off. defensively he's not that impactful, partly because he's not assigned interior defense duties. the blocks are nice sure, but he's blocking low % jumpers anyway.

don't think they can keep any of their FA though so might as well go for it every year is the other line of thought

Yep, I've heard early December for both. On November 24 2014 23:17 oneofthem wrote: this thunders team won't win anything with the current set up anyway Seriously? The big 3 + Jackson is plenty. After how close they've come just about every year and a Miami-less east? The top west seeds will be actively trying to avoid OKC in the first round.

As bad as they have been record wise, lets look at their losses: Portland- Were the 5th seed in the west last year, made 2nd round of playoffs last year; current 3rd seed. Clippers- Were the 3rd seed in the east, made 2nd round of playoffs last year. Lost by 3 point Nets- Were the 6th seed in the east, made 2nd round of playoffs last year. Toronto- 3rd seed in the east last year, current #1 seed. Memphis- 7th seed in the west last year, current #1 seed. Lost by 2. Milwaukee- current 6th seed in the east. Lost by 7 on the road. Detroit- Lost in overtime at home against a team that probably has roughly equal talent without Durant and Westbrook. Only terrible team they have lost to. Houston- 4th seed in the west last year; current 4th seed. Lost by 4 at home. Utah- Probably has slightly more talent than current Thunder. Lost on the road by 17. Denver- Lost by 7 on the road. Denver is 11th seed in the west, but would be the current 6th seed in the east by record. Was also 2nd game of a back to back. Nets again- Lost by 2 at home. Golden State- 6th seed in west last year, current 2nd seed. lost by 5 at home. Realistically only the Pistons can be called a game they "should have won". A pretty tough strength of schedule with 8 losses to teams that made the playoffs last year, 5 losses of 5 points or less, and a sixth loss in overtime. So the plus side is the schedule should get easier coming up. The problem is the west might even be tougher this year. Current 2nd seed in the east Wizards would only be the 5th seed in the west. Clippers and Pelicans as the 9th and 10 seeds in the west would be tied for 4th in the east. And 11th seed Nuggets would be ahead of the Cavs in the 7th seed. It's going to be hard to make the playoffs with such a hole, but I expect them to try their best. Probably need 50 wins to make it. If Westbrook and Durant both come back in the estimated ~2 weeks and are immediately able to play at 100%, I'd estimate they come back for either the Suns on Dec 14th or the Kings on the 16th. Lets say the Suns, so 8 games before then. The Jazz, Knicks, Pelicans, 76ers, Pistons, Bucks, Cavs, T-wolves. At best I would expect 2 wins out of that stretch. So 5-18, meaning they would have to go 45-14 the rest of the way to make 50 wins (and that assumes they win 2 games out the next 8).

If WB and Durant are healthy enough to play (they will be by the end of the year, WB is due back within a few weeks) they will play. It is dangerous for them to tank in the prime of two stars when they have talent around them.Remember, players want to play and compete even if the organization wants to tank. Durant/WB don't have time to hope for a top pick and wait 2 or 3 years for him to develop.

http://bballbreakdown.com/2014/11/20/armchair-coaching-john-wall/ wiggins is playing under saunders who was the mentor of the wiz coach. not a good influence for wiggins' development. yea his step back is really good separation and all but it's still a long 2 point jumper.

He has a big evaluation coming up on Thanksgiving, but his return is getting close. At the very earliest, he could play Friday" I reckon they'll be okay.
