It's funny because at this point he's literally just gunning for the scoring record. I mean, I actually don't mind because the team is complete shit so you might as well have a story to follow every Laker game, "how many shots/points is Kobe getting tonight." But man. At this point, he'll average 38-40 minutes/game.

At this point, he'll average 38-40 minutes/game. From the interviews I've heard, he's sounded pretty bitter about this season. He's gonna have a year of taking bad shots because his teammates can't get theirs and getting trashed by the media for it.

Just thinking strategically, Kobe did the "smart" thing in hindsight. In 2 years he can take the $3millio/year (or retire, whatever), and go for a chip with the Lakers bringing in 2 lottery picks (or whatever they parley the, into), 2 high end free agents, and a deep bench.

Even stars on shit teams don't treat their teammates this badly, he deserves to be trashed. Just because some of the guys aren't names doesn't mean they are completely incapable of development or shooting a better % than kobe is right now. He's tanking the potential value of his team mates in trade or FA down the line too. OKC looked like a scrub-fest but are still semi-competitive cause they don't have a brick-machine running the show.

If you don't think SOME of his teammates could at least hit an efg% of 50 you are insane. Lin only had 2 shots in 22 minutes? Holy shit. I mean, Kobe was at 15/34 which isn't catastrophic for so many shots. Other starters are at 3/13, 3/11 and 4/9. But yeah, Lin could probably have had more shots ;D

I don't know if Kobe had this in mind (probably not), but lets just assume he took 8-15 million instead. So...they could have added Chris Bosh or Melo (if they wanted to come) instead of Carlos Boozer. The team instead of being terrible, is contending...for the 7th seed! Just thinking strategically, Kobe did the "smart" thing in hindsight. I keep trying to tell people this. Even if Kobe took the minimum, the free agent market in 2014-2015 was totally pointless. We would've had to have landed every major free agent (Melo, Love AND Bosh) just to have a chance in the west with the roster we had to support them. The West is simply too stacked and after all our good role and bench players left for more money on other teams what was left? This lot. The Lakers simply need a solid long term rebuild.

Watch one. Tell me where in the fuck Lin is going to get his shots from. Our off ball movement is horrid, our bigs are not good in the pick and roll (Hill and Davis can't shoot reliably, Boozer is fucking Boozer) and Lin isn't a great 3 point shooter. We have no spacing to free up Lin to drive the ball because Young, and Kelly are both out which leaves us with next to no outside shooters. Our bench is a complete joke. Kobe shoots a lot because our offense sucks. It is NOT because he's just hogging the ball from otherwise capable players. People that are only looking at the box scores can delude themselves with that idea all they want. Watch the team play, then just sit back and let them tank. Whether Kobe shoots or not this team is tanking. It is not going anywhere and it cannot beat any of the teams out West. It's really that simple.

It's more surprising that Kobe can even play 30+ minutes a night and throw up 30 shots given his age and recent injuries
