Well no matter we've had either Barça or Real Madrid the last 4/5 CLs I think.
Ajax only have the themselves to blame imo. No disrespect to them, but they deserve their pot 3 status.
True, they've gotten really tough draws lately, but they finish third every season and get a chance to show their quality in the Europa League, but they crash out every year in the first or second knockout round. Clubs like Benfica and Porto have cemented themselves in pot 1 by performing consistently in the Europa League, even while having their best players poached every summer like Ajax does.

But despite that, they reached worldcup final without a decent defender (Mascherano carried them xD) Argentina played like a team defensively, offensively it was pretty much Messi only and sometimes his teammates helped a bit. if anything Argentina offensive SUCKED compared to what they had, Aguero was god awful (would even put it into the dissapointing 11 of the WC), Higuain got a couple and thats it, Messi played 3 matches and got tired and started to walk like he didnt care nor realize he was playing for his country on the WC... Di Maria carry them in that regard On the other side, the defense that was supposed to get rekt didnt dissapointed and played very well (their GK, Romero is a really bad keeper but got a shot of adrenaline in the WC)
Yeah like I said, defensively they all played together and played above their potential. Offensively it was all over the place.

some fun things I noticed when looking through the groups
firstly, the bayern city roma cska group has so many outcomes! it looked funny when I saw the standings with roma cska city all at 5 points, roma and cska -4 goal difference, city at -1 GD yet city in 4th place. It's because bayern destroyed cska and roma and tiebreakers are calculated first between the teams in question (so games vs bayern are discarded), and it leaves for some cool possibilities.
unfortunately (for the fun aspect of it all) bayern has home advantage vs cska in the final game and there's just no chance they're not winning that, so that's gonna leave cska at 5 points. That means it's city vs roma in tie break - but while city was 4th only due to losing vs cska, they're not disadvantaged vs roma. In fact assuming that bayern beats CSKA, city will advance together with them if get a result equal to or better than 1-1. 0-0 and Roma advances, 1-1 and you get city advancing through overall goal difference being superior, 2-2 city advances because they win H2H.
If CSKA had a chance at points though, stuff would be even more fun! if they beat bayern, city has no chance at advancing. The funniest thing: If they play a draw vs bayern, then Roma will advance with the tie results that would otherwise put City ahead. Like, if somehow Roma and City were to play 1-1; that would leave city getting #2 in the group if CSKA loses, #4 in the group if CSKA ties, and #3 in the group if CSKA wins.
Also, I think BATE Borisov might be en route for the worst GD of all time - impressive seeing as how they actually won a game.

Alright now it's out turn. If we get anything other than a loss we could even finish 1st. We are still in it technically with a loss but atletico traveling to italy in the last match day, already qualified, that means juventus will have an easy job grabbing the defining win. So come on lads, show some spirit!

Ugh. Disappointing game against PSG. Better the entire match but pretty much gave 3 goals away. First goal was a mistake in the midfield. Second goal van der Hoorn was defending Zlatan at a distance of 2 meters. Should've been on him when he got the ball. Third goal.. why on Earth would de Boer ever bring that turd Zimling on for pretty much our best player in the midfield... even if you want to sub him, bring Riedewald on. 18 year old kid who is a hell of a lot better than Zimling and can benefit a lot from the experience of playing in the CL for 25 minutes.
Also keeping Schöne on for the entire match was 30 minutes too much. Had a dreadful match. Bring on El Ghazi at the 1-1, keep Serero on the pitch or sub him for Riedewald and we could've easily won that.
Bah. Dumb decisions by de Boer and dumb mistakes all around led to a feeling of 'what if' which is completely useless now. Once again though, PSG was terrible. Don't see how anyone could see them as favourites.

That 4-3 lose against Schalke really hurts them, they couldve advanced if there wasnt last minute penalty. maybe mourinho could help ;< Chelsea's #1 position in the group is cemented now and december is a tough month in England. Maybe Mourinho will field B squad against Sporting. It seems draw would let Lisbon to qualify.

Rofl sorry for calling you out but comparing Ajax with Porto/Benfica is just bullshit. They are able to get outside EU talents without having to pay them over 500k salary.
Secondly I want to remind you an a few facts;
1. Zagreb vs Lyon that game was fucking fixed as hell. 2. 2 goals were not counted vs Real Madrid. 3. Penalty vs AC Milan which wasn't one.
So 3 times we got fucked over by the uefa, let alone the group stage draws.
But I agree with the part about getting knocked out by teams in europa league tho.

Couldn't of said it better. Mourinho drilled into his players from Sunday about this game. He was according to sources a very intense guy in these two days. And look what happens we demolish Schalke at home who haven't lost their in league and cup since April. Also they drew to Bayern here as well. All be it was like matchday 2? lol. But still very impressive, some of the football we played was sooooooooooo good.

Disappointing that Bayern squandered away the win against ManCity, now ManCity have a chance to advance that they really don't deserve.

Porto/Benfica also offer way bigger salaries to their players which makes sure they can keep their players longer. I'd like Ajax to up their salary ceiling a little bit, but then again, Ajax has around €100M positive balance in the bank and both Benfica and Porto are hugely in debt afaik.
Also, don't forget the penalty against APOEL which wasn't one. End result was 1-1 but should've been 0-1 for us as well.

Neuer didn't do anything wrong for those goals.
And who is supposed to be better? Neuer clearly demonstrates that he's the best keeper in the world, even if he isn't a god like some commentators make him out to be.

He is indeed the best from the current gen of keepers. He's just not all time great material like prime buffon was.
