The players who play in the Bundesliga (Timo Werner and Max Meyer) didn't get a permission to play this tournament from their clubs. I'd guess it's similar for other nations.

I think it's a wise decision from Lukaku to move to Everton. I strongly feel that regular playing time in the starting eleven is a necessary facet of the development of a footballer. The experience, confidence and responsibility you build from playing week in and week out cannot be reproduced on the practice field. It's all good and well to tell Lukaku to 'fight for his spot', but we all know he is at a severe disadvantage versus Diego Costa, who currently is the better striker and also cost Chelsea 32 million pounds to boot. It's a battle he is never going to win, especially at a club like Chelsea (and there are many other big clubs with the same philosophies) where winning something now always takes precedence over winning more tomorrow.
The Chelsea academy is all you need to look at to see why moving away from Chelsea is the correct decision for a young player with the potential to improve (but also old enough that he requires real experience at the highest level rather then just training). Since Abramovich came in, Chelsea have spent a fortune on their youth academy yet the last player to make regular appearances in the starting eleven is John Terry nearly 15 years ago. That's quite damning when you look at the talent that goes in to that academy. Young players with potential have an almost insurmountable climb to break into the first eleven at Chelsea and many of the big English clubs.
I think more players should move away from the big clubs in search of real opportunity for playing time so that they can continue to improve and grow. Of course I also think that players should be wise enough not to join the big clubs before they are ready, but in the end, money talks.

If it makes you feel better, some Spanish papers are claiming that Luis Enrique is targeting Vertonghen after being priced out of Marquinhos. I'm sure Dier is decent but Vertonghen would be an even bigger loss.
Overall I am excited, even though the transfer window has been quiet so far. A few reasons:
1) The new stadium (which Levy has been planning for almost 10 yrs) is finally going to be built soon, after so many delays.
2) New 5 year contract for Lloris.
3) Lamela skipped his summer holiday to continue training and strengthening his body. He has looked great in preseason so far and will be like a new 25m signing.
4) Unlike AVB and Sherwood, Pochettino is finally fixing the horrible defense. Dawson and Naughton will be gone, Rose will be put on the bench for Ben Davies, and I think another CB will be bought after Dier. Even if Vertonghen leaves, it's great having Pochettino around (ex-Argentina defender) to sort things out. I still think Schneiderlin will come as well, and he will help protect the back 4. Sherwood was playing Chadli and Sigurdsson in central midfield!
Top 4 is probably impossible this season but I think it's important to give Pochettino time to build something. The EL winner gets an automatic CL spot this year, so that should be the #1 goal in my opinion. If Schneiderlin arrives, the only thing missing from the squad would be a great LW, but I doubt Levy will spend the money on one. Griezmann would have been perfect...maybe Bernard if he wants to leave Shakhtar? My dream would be Isco but that's never going to happen.
How about Galatasaray, are things looking good under Prandelli?
At least he fits better than Mancini. He left out ten players (notably: Eboue, Sarioglu, Zan and Dany) out of training camp.
Now we need to sign new striker since Drogba is gone, new CB and RB as well. We looked terrible against Mainz and Rapid WIEN but It's still too early to judge him., He is still trying to understand strength and weaknesses of players.
On other hand, I think Spurs should've gone after Lukaku or even Origi, Soldado having difficulties in PL and Adebayor is not that great.
Bayern won this night against CD Guadalajara this night, really happy about Ribery (no world cup was really good for him), Gaudino, Hojiberg and Scholl (dat name gives me goose bumps) as promising talents. Also surprisingly physical game, lots of hard fouls (for a test game) and yellow cards.
