Right, but so far it appears NYCFC is just Man City's test lab.

We're not interested in being a retirement league or a farm league in the near future. A club (especially one in New York City) that exists to serve the need of a bigger club in another league is not acceptable. NYCFC must be independent, if it becomes anything close to a City farm team, it's going to fail. Honestly, the recent report about City loaning a few players annually probably stirred up a bigger reaction than the Lampard news.

MLS is getting better very quickly, but it has a long, long way to go to compete with the big 5 (if France counts, big 4 otherwise). I think this is a fantastic deal for NYCFC. You get the chance to bring in exciting young talent. Fans form connections with the players, the best of whom might go off and become stars on the world stage. Breaking into the first team at Man City is hard. Proven premier league players can't do it (Scott Sinclair why did you leave Swansea?). If great players like that come here to ply their craft that only makes the league better. City gets more US fans. NYCFC gets better players. NY gets a better team. The US gets a better league. Everyone wins, right?

A few reasons: 1) The new stadium (which Levy has been planning for almost 10 yrs) is finally going to be built soon, after so many delays. 2) New 5 year contract for Lloris. 3) Lamela skipped his summer holiday to continue training and strengthening his body. He has looked great in preseason so far and will be like a new 25m signing. 4) Unlike AVB and Sherwood, Pochettino is finally fixing the horrible defense. Dawson and Naughton will be gone, Rose will be put on the bench for Ben Davies, and I think another CB will be bought after Dier. Even if Vertonghen leaves, it's great having Pochettino around (ex-Argentina defender) to sort things out. I still think Schneiderlin will come as well, and he will help protect the back 4. Sherwood was playing Chadli and Sigurdsson in central midfield! Top 4 is probably impossible this season but I think it's important to give Pochettino time to build something. The EL winner gets an automatic CL spot this year, so that should be the #1 goal in my opinion. If Schneiderlin arrives, the only thing missing from the squad would be a great LW, but I doubt Levy will spend the money on one. Griezmann would have been perfect...maybe Bernard if he wants to leave Shakhtar? My dream would be Isco but that's never going to happen. How about Galatasaray, are things looking good under Prandelli? You sure about Rose and Davies? From the pre-season games it seems Rose is getting more starts or is just circumstantial? What about Adebayor? What's up with him? Will he be fielded this year or was last seasons' ending just a fluke? As Twisted said, Rose is terrible (mainly due to his attitude) and will definitely be on the bench to start the season. Hopefully he wakes up and starts using his talent and potential. Adebayor plays like Messi for 5 games and Helder Postiga for the other 33, so in my view he should be sold. On August 01 2014 18:11 smr wrote: Transfer news are amazing. English media are reporting that Dortmund is close to selling Hummels for 20m pounds to ManUtd. Reasoning? They might get Liverpool's Ilori on loan as a replacement. Who thinks of those stories? (I guess if one in a hundred comes true that pays for the next month.) Sorry, are you saying that English papers are unreliable!? + Show Spoiler + ![]()

It’s probably not a great precedent to set though if lots of clubs start doing this and basically every club in MLS turns into some European teams B team. Also I said quite confidently a couple of weeks ago that Lampard would definitely not play for Man City this coming season so I guess I have to eat my words there.
