Well Bayern is at least doing their own tour in the USA (they are playing the MLS all stars). But more German teams should tour here. America is full of German descendants and I knew plenty of people who supported Germany in the WC because they are of German heritage. How come Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona have such a different approach to nationalism on their squad. Like, both teams are not just sport teams but also quasi-national teams for their respective peoples yet Barcelona is built around basically openness, stealing Dutch ideas of total football and making them better and up until they sold out slightly their t shirts about ultimate 'good guyism' whereas Bilbao has an almost, I dont know, old fashioned I guess, approach to signing players that they only consider Basque -- iirc there is a guy now who isnt but still, I remember both Barca and Bilbao chairman basically saying to be a fan of [our team] its more than football, its a feeling, but how come the Catalans seem more...open to share those with others? | ||

Bundesliga teams take pride in the fact that they are "local". Local players, local fans and also local sponsors. Even Bayern and Dortmunds big sponsors are located around Munich and Dortmund. So it wouldnt make much sense to go to the US besides making money. | ||
