Unless it's a guy like Toews,Crosby, Ovechkin, Tavares, Weber, Doughty etc.
Montreal finally gets a deal done with Galchenyuk as well. 2 years at 2.8 million. Very happy with this deal. Young kid, had 20 goals last year and something like 46 points, was a plus. Now he has 2 year to prove step his game up to the next level and earn the big payday next contract.
How much do you reckon Stamkos will command?

Stammer will absolutely be looking for Toews, Crosby, Ovie type money and Tampa would be smart to give it to him. Elite franchise players I'm okay with locking down long term for lots of money.
Voracek has been an good player for most of his career, and had one season so far of being elite in terms of point getting. He hasn't proven he can consistently put up 70-80 points a season.
If Voracek keeps on the path of growth from last season and the one before it 60 points then 80 points this deal is a great one. But if he falls back to 40 points a season then it's not so great. But that is the risk of long term contracts. I do think Voracek can keep steady at probably around 70 points a season for most of his contract length. Still a gamble though.

So around 10mio? Ok, seems legit.
Yeah that's the main question with Voracek...if he keeps the current pace it is a great signing but at the first sight of a slight slump or the first year below 70pts the questions will all surface.

Stamkos is getting $10m easy.
Voracek is a great player. $8m for anyone is tough to swallow but he's hit a ppg twice in the past 3 years, he's in his prime, is great at possession all around, and is good in his own end.

Let's hope he likes to be the Thunder then :p

Apparently Voracek was drafted 1st overall in 2006. Damn.

He wasn't drafted first overall, nor was he drafted in 2006...?

Maybe it was an Erik Johnson joke?

so kane may or may not have gotten himself in trouble in his hometown just outside of buffalo. the local pd denied a reporter access to a police blotter for the past weekend in the city where he lives or somehting (normally they fork these over). the paper filed a foia act but the entire basis for the story is that the city won't confirm/deny he's being investigated (as is normal for that) and that two anonymous sources said that kane is being investigated

What do you mean by Carter or Voracek
Carter was drafted 11th in 2003 IIRC and Voracek was definitely draft no.7 in 07

Johnson is ok now but man what a waste of a pick compared to what else was out there at the time. It's also crazy to think that the Penguins could have had Sid, Malkin, Toews down the middle if they didn't draft Staal just ahead of him.
|
Theres a pretty good chance Toews wouldn't have developed into the player he is now if he had been drafted by the Pens. He wouldn't have gotten the minutes hes gotten on the Hawks as a Pen. The argued stunted growth Staal has suffered being on the Pens probably would have happened the same if it had been Toews.

i think edmonton might have a chance of making playoffs this year

West is too much of a thunderdome. Edmonton improved but not enough to squeak in even as a wild card. They'll end the season 10th in t he west unless se team really shits the bed

The NHL isn't like the NFL in terms of reputation. The NFL doesn't give a shit, and their players regularly do incredibly reprehensible things and are let back in because the sport is so punishing. The NHL has just as punishing a sport at the highest level, but its reputation is night and day compared to the NFL. Kaner could be in some serious trouble, especially if they give him a long term ban because of this. Personally I hope the allegations are untrue, not because I want him to play, but because I don't want a girl to have been raped - especially by such a huge figurehead in hockey.

I don't even get why a famous person like this would rape someone. You're doing pretty good in life, should you not be able to get laid fairly easily? I'm sure I misunderstand this badly somehow.
