I know they have to save face here and avoid bad publicity. But what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Especially in cases of abuse or rape etc. People seem so hellbent on playing the white knight that they don't even stop to consider the possibility that the person is actually innocent. Obviously I'm not just talking about Patrick Kane here and EA. But in general whenever a story about something like this pops up the person in question is instantly assumed guilty and treated as such before any actual facts come out.

Wasn't there a lot more evidence towards guilt with voynov though? So far all we really know with Kane is that he may be being investigated for supposed rape. There has yet to be one actual shred of definitive anything other than there's an investigation that he is involved in. Every bit of "information" thats been released has been heresay from people outside the investigation. Until the authorities actually say something the reactions from everyone is a bit over the top imo.

They can't really afford to let it go out with him on the front, though. If he were to get convicted, or even charged, it looks terrible for their game. It's a better decision to just pull him off this year. If he's convincingly exonerated then they could just put him on when it clears.

Cubs were expected to be a sub500 team this year and they're currently 16 games over 500 and have won 12 of 13 Hawk. Doesn't sound like choking to me

Sorry if this is a bit of a tangent off your point, Kyhron:

While having experience certainly helps a professional athlete with certain things, if you are good enough on the field your age just doesn't matter in baseball. While other sports have lots of split second decisions and sort of larger goals in mind, baseball is basically all reaction. With respect to managers using defense and bullpens a bit better recently, there is basically nothing intriguing about baseball strategy. And players don't ever make those types of decisions.

The only position in baseball that would require legitimate major league experience to perform consistently is the catcher.

Sorry for the aside, but I feel like this is a receptive audience to my opinion that baseball is boring as all hell. The "game" happens in identifying long term trends, whoop-dee-doo!

A little derail never hurt it's offseason. Right around now is when I'll start watching a little baseball. I don't really know much about it

Going w the comment about catchers I feel like pitchers fall into the same thing. Pitch selection is as much mental as it is physical

I love laughing at the leafs and i think Babcock is good but overrated. But lemaire is probably the single best defensive couch of the modern era. They could do far worse than having him shape guys like gardener and Reilly.

Isn't he like a 'special assignment' coach or something? So they pay him to watch the games from home and then give his 2 cents - like "yeah, shoulda scored more goals or maybe got scored on less." Sweet retirement gig, imo.
