It appears people can receive from around 45 points to approximately 195 depending on difficulty, length and type of dance. I still call this system BS... Random audience (like me) is very far from understanding it.

What you people forget (or don't know) is that due to poor/criminal/disastrous times in Russia in 90es we lost a major part of our sport facilities. Lets put it this way: 4 years ago we had 0 tracks for luge, only 2 big-ice skating arenas (both build after 2000), very few modern ice-hockey arenas (less that 10), very few modern football stadiums (maybe slightly more than 10), and for the mountain skiing pro tracks - not even one, Krasnaya Polyana is the only place with suitable conditions for these competitions. For Russia being a winter-sport country and having 50% of their pro athletes training in Europe, this is a big deal. PS. said it before will say it again, of those 51bln that you like to quote every here and there a big junk was simply stolen, so its not like they went completely overboard, they just pulled russians and took an opportunity to get richer. I've been in Sochi in 2009, i drove there with my car, the road and the city was a catastrophe. If this is changed (and from what i hear/see, at least roads/bridges/tunnels have been finished), its fine. + the new airport + the new railway station (big deal for still railroad-heavy Russia). City itself is still shit thou ![]()

My math skills tell me that would mean 50 billions did go somewhere else then? I find this hard to imagine, especially if I compare it to current infrastructure projects here in germany, Am I missing something, or where did the money go?

Its a well-known fact that russian roads are the most expensive in the world. Since they build A LOT of them, here are your numbers. Include sidewalks within the olympic village, huge electric station, additional water supplies, already mentioned new air terminal, road terminal, railways themselves, etc etc, a lot of insfrastructure (800 items in total), which is much easier to steal from, than "official" sport venues monitored by IOC.

a forearm shiver by whoever #7 is on Team Sweden would make Don Cherry proud. i think Jenn Wakefield will get a game misconduct or a 10 minute misconduct for a high flying hit at some point in this event. then what we'll hear is the Team Canada coach say something liek "she is an emotional player" as the excuse for it.

ouch. and i thought the canadian women's team was dysfunctional. Sweden is outplaying Japan but definitely having a problem finishing ; i guess having their top 2 finishers off the team does not help.

I just can't get exited for these events to be honest. I too thought the Finnish girl was better, but I'm probably missing half the intricacies which determine the score. Prefer speed skiing and skating, fastest time wins ![]()
