Haven't you finished with your trolling? Say what you want about Ovechkin, this guy had it all, but leave Malkin alone. You have only seen him in Penguins which is a specific system, created by a specific coach, with some specific players around. Just stop it already, ffs

did not see that coming at all

Wow what a huge upset by the Latvians. I guess Switzerland is literally just Hiller.

the ice was a lot better at Dodger Stadium for an outdoor game in Los Angeles in 13C weather outside. so its possible to at least have "ok" ice if u know what u r doing.. that said, its expensive to pull off and the NHL guys really really really know what they are doing.
the IIHF needs to swallow its pride and ask the NHL for more help.
regarding the Latvian win. Ted Nolan is my fucking hero. he is a great coach.

I've seen him before he went to NHL, i've seen him in all the games for team Russia and i've seen him crushing the KHL during the lockout last year.
Indeed this tournament he's not doing good. Meanwhile besides Datsyuk and Radulov - i don't see who else is doing great, the team had a poor start. That doesn't mean he doesn't have it and that he cant turn it on later. The only thing i would give to you - Malkin is NO Datsyuk. But once again - who is?
EDIT: by the way i did see Pens games with Malkin too, so don't think i've never watched him play outside of Russian system.

Thank god. That was way closer than it needed to be.

America is going to murder the Czechs. I still dont understand what happened to the Slovaks. Just awful. Their defenders literally just stand there watching the Czechs skate circles around them.

I think the czechs have the offense to make it interesting, but I wouldnt say murder. pavelec will surely give them a couple easy ones though. i think it will be close.
here's to hoping latvia sends the canadians home crying!

Finland vs Russia will be great indeed.
I feel like the russian squad is ripe for an upset. If Tuukka can stand on his head there is a distinct possibility.

I love how you get proven completely wrong, then just stop replying for a few pages and come back to start spewing the same crap again. Since you seem to have missed it, here you go:
Yes, Malkin is a regular season super hero just like Ovechkin, Just like Ovechkin when he is stripped of his supporting cast of non-Russians he becomes irrelevant -- well, except that one tournament that he won in 2012 all by himself while most of hte NHL was still playing in the playoffs. Ovechkin is invisible past the first round of the playoff, and the vast bulk of his playoff points come from playing the 8th seed those few years the Caps actually looked like a relevant playoff team. After that, back to team invisible.
Malkin has 97 points in 83 playoff games Malkin has over a point per game in every single playoff year Malkin has won a Conn Smythe and a Stanley Cup Malkin does not play on a line with Crosby for the vast majority of his even strength TOI 2009 Stanley Cup Finals: Crosby is injured and not as effective against Detroit, getting just 3 points. Pittsburgh is only able to score 14 goals in the 7 game series. Malkin gets 8 points, meaning he was in on over half of the team's points. Wow, what a terrible playoff performer.
Ovechkin in the 2008 playoffs vs Philadelphia: 4 goals and 9 points in 7 games. He gets a goal and an assist in their 3-2 game 7 loss against Philadelphia. Ovechkin in the 2009 playoffs vs Pittsburgh: 8 goals and 14 points in 7 games, doubling his points in round 1 against NYR. He gets one of the team's two goals in their 6-2 game 7 loss. In order to win this game, he would have needed to get 6 points. Ovechkin in the 2010 playoffs vs Montreal: 5 goals and 10 points in 7 games. In game 7, he gets an assist on the team's only goal in a 2-1 loss. Ovechkin in the 2011 playoffs vs Tampa Bay: 2 goals and 4 points in 4 games. In that round, Backstrom gets 1 point, Semin gets 2 points and Mike Green gets 1 point. Ovechkin is the only one amongst Washington's star players to get a point in their eliminating loss.
While in the past couple of years Ovechkin hasn't been as effective as his past self, the conclusion here is very obviously that Ovechkin was a dominant force in the playoffs, and the reason for his team's eliminations had absolutely nothing to do with him not performing. So basically, you have no idea what you're talking about.
