So easy to just clog up the ice because there is less chance there will be puck battles. I think it has potential but it's hard to say how the NHL would adapt over a full season or two. Too few games with teams that lack a lot of chemistry to make a firm decision.

in 1896 when the game was invented and 200X85 was made the players were all the size of Martin St. Louis. the most entertaining hockey was played by the women on the big ice because the goalies are a lot smaller in the net making every shot much more dangerous. sry guys.. but the Womens hockey was way more entertaining than the Men's hockey this Olympics.... more lead changes .. more comebacks... more epic moments. and the women have even more open ice. in addition to increasing the size of the rinks the NHL should increase the size of the net. i wonder if there will be a party at Maple Leaf Square to celebrate double hockey gold?

Of course it can't compare to the excitement of 2010 with home ice and crosby scoring the golden goal in OT, but still a great feeling! Huehuehue, well that's quite easy to say in hindsight? ![]()

It's bad enough they pulled him out of the game because he tested positive for an allergy medication he declared himself to have taken when the test was given to him. If the IOC doesn't give him a Medal thats just highway robbery With Henrik Sedin, Zetterberg, Franzen and who knows gone from our original line-up Marcus Krüger was the one to hold it down from who our coach wanted from the getgo, and he was not nr 1. For me Krüger is a boss though and can hold down a box play like nobody so not the worst guy to have left but come on, already a broken rebuilt team and they decide to pull Bäckström 2 hours before the finals? What did they think was going to happen? Bullshit ending to a great tournament. But as to what I wanted to reply to you, from what I read the old "You are using!"-limit on this drug was 15 and when they brought it back they put it at 10x that at 150 so that it would be rather hard to "woops, I accidentally..." get above that. So either he was using way more then just his "My team doc told me a pill was all right" or he has some monster a la Mount Everest of pills. So in my book they can take his medal if they want to, if it used to be 15 and is 150 and he was hitting 190 he has done goofed any way you swing it. Still a shame for the kid, feel for him for sure but come on man don't take shady stuff and definitely don't take pills the seize of a puck just cause that's how it works over in the great promised land of the NHL. Sorry for the rant but man, I was so FREAKTASTICALLY PUMPED for a great finals and our already broken team gets redone all over again due to some "well it's on the list but we can still sort of use it cause we had a meeting before and yada-yada"-bs that they think they can get away with and then they use pills that would have cleared the old limit of 15 by 13x the amount? Give me a freakin' break... All I wanted was to cheer on my team and watch Loui score some sick goals. Man... could have been great...

Lubomir Visnovsky failed the same test in Vancouver for using the same drug and also declared it on his test form. He was let off with a warning. Why should Backstrom get treated any different?

Unaware or not, that is doping. That range of Seudophedrine is about 5 times the amount of taking cough/cold/allergy meds as they are recommended on the box. Thats a little egregious. Sitting there and being upset because your player doesn't pay attention to the rules and got caught is not okay. Its Backstroms fault he wasn't paying attention to the rules. I'm no Olympic athlete and I know that most Controlled Substances (over the counter or not) are illegal in the Olympics.

He declared the medication on his test form and even the chief medical officer of the IOC thinks Backstrom is being unfairly reprimanded. Actually, no it really can't. Lubomir was tested before the games, Backstrom was tested during. Different circumstance.

Backstrom tested 190 mg/mL, which is a ~2.1-2.4 mg psuedo per Kg of blood. So, a reasonable advantage i'd say. Also has pain numbing effects which gives you larger advantage on the faceoff dot and in the corners.

If it just simply makes you more chill you have done something to change yourself into probably performing better.
