Burke is the biggest mouth in favour of larger ice.. but guys like guys like Ray Shero, and Garth Snow also favour this idea. Burke has worked in some of the NHL's most senior management ranks during his career... so when he speaks up on a substantial rule change it means something. You can keep pounding away on this topic.. but with each passing year the players get bigger and bigger making an ice dimension set in 1895 more and more obsolete. if the average player were 5'10" and 160 lbs the current NHL dimensions would be fine. but that is not the case. the NCAA has the right idea.

Only viable way. | ||

Oduya and Hjalmarsson is a two-player deal. Hedman is a better player than both, but Oduya and Hjalmarsson are used to playing with eachother, so it would be unwise to split them up. What I will never understand is why they picked Edler and Tallinder over Hedman. Edler have been pathetic this season, and is a danger defensively, and Tallinder is not a elite defenseman. Hedman on the other hand has been carrying Tampa's defense, and has been productive offensively as well. Speaking of Tampa, why didn't the Czech play Radko Gudas?

He's been flaming dogshit this season. Tallinder has been ok, but he's nothing special. Just do not get no Hedman

I am honestly surprised that more teams dont eliminate mid-bowl seats for box space.

Just do not get no Hedman Burke has stated a larger ice surface will lower injuries. if he sells the top NHL minds on that then that justifies the cost. every injury costs money. furthermore, in the ultra long term a larger playing surface will lead to larger arena capacities for any new arena. only slightly larger but still larger. the larger the playing surface of the sport the greater the capacity of the stadium boxing/mma < basketball < hockey < baseball < american football < european football < auto racing oval yes, you can theoretically stick an MMA event in a giant domed stadium, but for serious viewing a small intimate venue is what satisfies a serious MMA/boxing fan. Hence, the MGM Grand is your standard size of venue for a combat sport.
