Final three-man shortlists to be announced early December
Winners to be revealed 13 January 2014
Good ole popularity contest. I like Arsenal and Arsène, but what is he getting nominated for exactly? Same for Vicente. Why not vote for Diego Simeone, who actually won something and put an end to Atletico's losing streak against Madrid.

Ribery is maybe the 5th or 6th best player in Bayern that's why. And of course I'm biased, but probably less than you

Yeah thats true, why fuck no Simeone in that list :S Especially considering how he has started this La Liga season!
Think thats because this is for Year 2013 only Salt. Like you said the first half of 2012-13 season, so he would of needed to be in 2012 shortlist.
|
Lol just realized Tito is not even on that list, while having the best first half of la Liga ever in the sport, while being sick and in his first year as coach xD
|
The ranking is for the calendar year not the 2012-13 season. Tito has been coaching maybe 2 months in total in 2013.

These voters memories don't go that far back lol. Seriously change Vicente and Arsene with Diego and Tito, nobody would have been complaining.

Explains it. Still doesn't make sense for Diego to not be in it :/

Oh I thought it was season, I guess it would make too much sense for them
Explains why the voting is made at the "end" of the year tho.

The coaches are stupid because you can´t really compare them Heynkes or Tito are great coaches but they also always have great teams.
On "making the best out of limited recources" i want to point out Cristian Streich from SC Freiburg. He got 5th last season in the league with a budget of 1/6 Bale (16.1 Million, for the whole club!). Also his press conferences are hilariously funny and beating Mourinho by a huge margin on entertaining.

Well yeah thats why Diego Simeone is even better. He got 3rd in La Liga whilst pushing Real Madrid all season long beating them to a trophy and in the league. He did this on limited resources as well, Atletico have 0 money because they have so much debt it is untrue. They had to sell Falcao to make the money back just to pay Porto. The money they spent this summer was only like 5million € on David Villa. Limited resources finishing 3rd in La Liga and wining the Copa Del Rey is a huge achievement and should put him on the list for Coach of the year easily.
Mourinho takes charge of his 200th Chelsea game tonight, record is;
Played 199 Won 133 Drawn 43 Lost 23 Win % 66 Scored 358 Conceded 129 Goal Difference +229
No wonder us Chelsea fans are happy xD

^What Pandemona said ^_^ Its a shame because these nominations could be a recognition of extraordinary coaching.

Germany leads the list with 5 players and the Germans in this forum are complaining because not enough Germans were nominated.

Ribéry will win IMO, because Bayern owned everyone and specially Barça. And trophies count a lot in this. Remember Cannavaro won it because Italy got the WCup (even when he wasn't the best defender in that team lol).
If you go by the numbers (considering goals, assists, minutes played...), Messi is the best and it's not particularly close. CRonaldo would most likely be second.

Id give it Ronaldo this year personally, i think he deserves it. Messi might of been better had he been fitter last season but he wasn't and on that alone he shouldn't be in the top 2.
Plus this record of 43 appearances and 42 goals in the champions league for Ronaldo is fkn stupid xD. Just this season and last he has 15 appearances and 19 goals. Damn >.<
81 appearances and 63 goals is Messi record btw. (For barca)
They are pretty much neck and neck for this year on goal scoring form but in terms of being on the pitch more you'd say Ronaldo. Be a shame if Ronaldo didn't win this year xD Ribery is good no question, but he didnt win games on his own which is why i think he should be 2 nd this year at most (personally)
|
Heart: Schweinsteiger, the beating heart of Bayern. Head: Tie between Ronaldo/Messi, I still give the edge to Messi personally but the big gap that existed between them is no longer present that's for sure.
|
Yeah CR is a beast, in goals per minute played he is close with Messi. The small genius has much more assists and less penalties tho.
Don't think he is gonna win it. Madrid didn't win shit and didn't play all that awesome either. Not in the same year Bayern won the treble.
1st Ribéry. 2nd Messi. Not even sure CR gets third place, considering how highly they rate trophies in this.

FIFA's shortlist by positions: Goalkeepers: 1 Defenders: 2 Defensive Midfielders: 2 Attacking Midfielders: 10 Strikers: 8
Conclusion: FIFA's preferred tactics is 0-1-1-5-4. Very innovative for times where most of the top teams play 1-4-2-3-1.
Alaba, Pique, Chiellini, Vidić, Baines, Dani Alves, Hummels, Piszczek, Terry... tough luck guys for playing at the back.
And lack of Marco Reus is just laughable...

I don't care who wins the popularity contest, I just care who wins the football matches

Messi is the best and no one comes close to his quality so it's normal he should get his 5th consecutive ballon.

You really think cristiano who's 28 years old has only played in 43 cl games? xD You may wanna check your stats. Messi leads in every possible stat category by far.
