But there has been a bit of a dirth in terms of fullbacks in general the last decade, everyone has something glaring that lets them fall short, so in that respect there isnt much competation for Ashley Cole. Well Maldini slightly, but I'm not sure if I would rate him better than Ashley Cole during that stage of his career. It's true that Ashley Cole hasn't had the same competition as Maldini has had with Lizarazu and Roberto Carlos, but Ashley Cole is still a remarkable player.

I am surprised that there is no one making a try on David Alaba. 22, CL winner, makes all the important games with Bayern... and is one of the best left CB in Europe.

Alaba doesn't want to play as left back, so its hard to count him in!

other than that ashley cole best left back of the last decade. carlos better before, though. arguably the only english player to be top 3 worldwide in his position at any point of the past decade also, maaybe gerrard or rooney during some peak coinciding with other players not peaking.

Who does this list? At the players i am missing Javi Martinez badly. That guy is such a beast and played a huge role in Bayerns CL run. Especially vs. Barca, he destroyed the midfield in this 2 games. Also Sergio Busquetes, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus could be on the list too. This list is just too "offense" orientated. On the highest level the game is dominated in the defensive/zentral midfield or in counter attack situations. I am counting only 4 Zentral Midfielders (Pirlo, Schweinsteiger, Toure, Xavi). On the coaches, is selecting Antonie Conte not "wrong"? I mean this guy was suspended for fixing games, thats not a really good ideal. Also what is Del Bosque doing on the list? 2013 was no big national tournament. The only "real" games he had was the qualification and qualifying with Spain isn´t that hard, even i could do that.

I agree the list is very offense oriented, maybe some of the "non-greatest" strikers could be dropped? Who do you guys think will make the shortlist? I think Messi, Ronaldo and Ribery. Hoping for Ibrahimovic in top three though, since he can definitely be one of the most spectacular players to play the sport. Edit: Missed a couple of words

I'd guess that is the easier one to call. Jupp Heynckes or Sir Alex Ferguson will win the award with the other coming 2nd Then the player award will be Ronaldo/Messi/Ribery in any order you can think of as FIFA are unpredictable.

Realistically it will come down to Ribery/Messi/Ronaldo with a chance of 40% Ribery 40% Messi and 20% Ronaldo. Maybe Ribery is the favorite because electing Messi 5 times is kinda boring. On the coaches it just has to be Jupp Heynckes, dominated his league, 7-0ed barca and set multiple records.

1- Lahm 2- Messi 3- Schweinsteiger I could also put Müller or Ribery, but I think Lahm is the best player of this year. Messi just because of his regularity in awesomeness but he just won la Liga and wasn't there for the big games. Coach, definitely Klopp. Close second Heynckes and 3rd Benitez for his performance in Chelsea even though he was hated by the fans and his start with Napoli.

How can you put Messi above Ribery in this year without bias? Ribery has decided tons of games just like Messi did.
