Yeah be he like 18million. But he brings to the table freekicks and penalties which is awesome. He is great going forward and more than suitable defensively for the premiership. The only reason he isn't world class/tested is because he has been 2nd choice to Ashley Cole internationally xD If that wasn't the case he would be even better imo.

Indeed Baines has the poor luck to have one of the best, if [not the best left back of the last decade in front of him at England. Its a shame though that he never left England or Everton for champions league football.

I think Januzai is the most obviously talented young player for Utd since Ronaldo. Compared to when Ronaldo first arrived, Januzaj is not as quick but makes better decisions, is way more productive, and equally gifted technically. You can tell even aside from his goals and assists, the touches he gets, the way he sees the pitch, etc. For the past three games he's much pretty carried the team when everyone around him has played shitty, which is sorta reminiscent of Ronaldo's good games in his first and second seasons. Utd were pretty bad back then too.
It's ridiculous how much success teams are having pressing Utd's midfield, Fellaini is so hesitant on the ball and everyone including Carrick often dwells on it for way too long. The having everyone clog up the middle tactic vs. Stoke obviously failed, but every winger except Januzaj have been useless. Fergie probably got the best out of the squad last season but Moyes certainly has made everyone play their worst.

I don't know how ashley cole is doing but I think at least for this season so far you can safely say Baines is the best left back in England.

Please... Januzaj carried the team? Kagawa has been better in all CL games, hadnt much starts in PL...

Fair enough, we'll see what he brings to United.

Humm... Roberto Carlos, Lizarazu, Maldini? I'd say even Abidal was better than him!

Better than Ashley Cole?! Guy who marked Ronaldo out of every single game he played in? As well as being able to get up and down the field for fun offering tons offensively.
Carlos - Great offensively, not so great defensively Maldini - Great defensively, poor offensively Lizarazu - Not in the same league Abidal - Not in the same league Cole - Great offensively and awesome defensively
Right now Ashley is only exceptional defensively and has lost his crossing at top level. But still his job is defend and he is still awesome at it.
Add a Poll see what we get;
Poll: Best Left Back?Roberto Carlos (16) 59% Lizarazu (5) 19% Maldini (4) 15% Ashley Cole (2) 7% Abidal (0) 0% 27 total votes Your vote: Best Left Back? (Vote): Ashley Cole (Vote): Maldini (Vote): Roberto Carlos (Vote): Lizarazu (Vote): Abidal

he only really played well vs. sociedad, januzaj scored 2 vs sunderland, made the goal vs Southampton, provided the energy vs. stoke when kagawa and nani were ineffective, it's not an exaggeration to say januzaj has carried united.

Maldini is the single best back in the history of the sport. Having said that I voted for RC cause damn these longshots.
This poll is a disgrace to maldini really.

They already have Rooney for free kicks D:
And yeah, I don't really know any good young left backs that United could get, but I personally wouldn't buy Baines, unless he was very cheap, because of his age.

Evra is also far from the problem, the lack of cover isnt a huge deal either since evra is a machine and theres fabio.

Uhm guys, I said last decade. Apart from Abidal, who never achieved the consistency of Ashley Cole, none of those guy's heights were during 2003~2013.

RC is amazing, but yeah Maldini is without equal. Maldini played during the late 80's to the early 00's on the heighest level of football.

Well Maldini kinda sorta falls in there. But there has been a bit of a dirth in terms of fullbacks in general the last decade, everyone has something glaring that lets them fall short, so in that respect there isnt much competation for Ashley Cole.

Yeah Evra has still been very good this season.

Nope did nothing offensively and was just a good defender He hasn't even been rated by FIFA and doesn't get a look in in any world squad or anything "/ He played in an awesome France team at the team. The Bayern team he played in was the beast team that bottled it vs Yanited in the final. He was a good defender but not in the class of Maldini Carlos or Ashley cole
