Haven't watched many Pistons games, but my impression is that Jennings is an improvement over Knight, no?
I agree that he shouldn't be getting nearly that much money though.
Bucks situation is...interesting.

The salary is actually fine on certain teams, Hawks just got a better deal and I don't understand why the Pistons weren't in on those discussions. Jennings is an improvement on offense, but a lot of his passing comes by way of dribble penetration, and he's still got an average-at-best shot and poor shot selection (worse than Smith's.) So this team is going to be comically bad at outside shooting and the lane will be incredibly clogged. Worse than anything else is Jennings' defense. He's an idiot at it. Knight is currently a better, if sometimes confused, defender and his potential is way, way, way higher. Plus he's a guy that gives it his all and gets annihilated by DeAndre Jordan. Jennings just gives up. I just don't understand the purpose of another scoring guard with a bad outside shot.

Sure, it happened for him, but now it has to happen for Smith and Jennings as well.

Glad to see BK7 gone; Jennings ain't the best in the world, but it'll attract more fans and we'll actually start to win some fucking games now. edit: with a new coach and a relatively new roster, it might cause jannings to stop chucking so god damn much.

His passing is servicable but not great. He can push the pace and is quick at his position. But he really doesn't do anything at an elite level in the NBA. Between Monroe, Smith and Jennings poor Drummond will never see the ball bar the odd alley-pop or putback. I'd have concerns about this team stifling Drummond's development but it looks like Joe needs wins in his contract year.

I don't think Drummond is going to get affected by this in any way; he's a great player, and he knows how to work with Moose to make plays happen and get boards. Will Knight average out to be a bit better than Jennings in the long run? Maybe, but I think the difference really isn't going to be that much. And plus, whenever I watch Knight play dude just looks like he's kinda lost sometimes, and almost unsure of what to do. All the starting players on the Pistons now are really confident people who know what they want, and how to get it. Sure, they won't win the championship, but it's going to be a HUGE improvement over last year.

It started with this: Ok let's be clear our number one scoring option is the best in the league! 2&3 are our guards and MWP.....Bargnani isn't a number one scorer but is much better and the Knicks are much better than most of the teams people on here are touting as barn stormers.....better than the Nets, the Bulls, the Pacers, the Heat! You can't seriously believe the hate you're spewing.....Knicks are better than all your teams! And don't even get me started on broke ass OKC..... Then I started laughing but wanted clarification so then this post came up. I'm thinking to offer a straight money bet. Lets be real....I'll break it down for those basketball impaired..... Bulls: coming off a year long injury nobody knows the kinda player Rose will be....however good he is however he won't be more or less an asset than Robinson was.....at best they're the same team as last year which the Knicks were better than record wise although not in head to head matchups because the Knicks lacked the toughness to compete that they now have Nets: basically the Celtics with a center......Knicks busted the Celtics asses all last year and KG and Pierce are only getting older as we speak......Knicks bench is better as well Miami: was better than Miami last year and got much better losing some finesse scoring in exchange for toughness without losing too much in the scoring department Indiana: got lucky Melo was hurt last year and Smith was with some club's bartender every other night.....if that wasn't the case they would have beat them last year but now with MWP and height in Bargnani, Chandler can focus on protecting the rim and getting rebounds and no more or this silly lob passes every other day that we had to rely on.....now we can kick it out to the corner three or free throw line extended and make their bigs commit or get torched by either MWP or Bargnani for three..... So to answer your question it's a long season so something's depend on injury and stuff but yea I think number one is clearly an easily met objective

There's no reason to get every piece at the same time. Jennings is a bit of an upgrade over Knight, but Knight is on a rookie contract and certainly has more room to grow, which is unlikely for Jennings. Jennings will almost certainly not be close to their best option come a year or two from now. It's like when the Pistons signed CV and Gordon. They spent money just because it was available. You don't rebuild all your positions in a year unless the truly right pieces are available. The fact that Jennings is overall better than Knight doesn't mean he's worth the commitment.

At this point though it's all speculation about what will happen to either players; I could turn out to be completely wrong and BK7 has an amazing season, or I could be somewhat right and the new additions help us get into the playoffs. Still, I feel really confident with this team right now. Still, I'd much rather pay 8M a year for Jennings then pay a bit more this year for fucking CV.
