Dig deep TL. I started Shaun T's Insanity workout back in December and wanted to know if anyone else is on the same road (or has been) as I am.
For those who don't know, Insanity is a 60 day workout program that will kick your ass. Its a home video set that doesn't require any weights or equipment. All you need is a pair of decent sneakers, a flat surface to exercise and an insane amount of determination. In 60 days you can completely 'transform' your body.
I attempted this workout program like two years ago but stopped three weeks into it because I didn't have the discipline to stick to the schedule (was taking days off at a time) and I really hurt my lower back due to terrible form. I also wasn't exercising regularly going into it (use to swim competitively a year previous to first attempt but no gym in between).
Started exercising regularly last year and I thought I'd give it a second shot. I've been pretty dead on with not missing any days so far in round 2.. Skipped a couple during the first week cause of finals week / 12 hour study sessions and a couple days when I went snowboarding / spent newyears at a friends place in the city.
Besides that I'm pretty much bang on track. I just entered the dreaded month 2 (Max month) and oooooh boy I've never sweat so much in my life. I did Max Recovery for the first time yesterday and my arms were shot from all those slow pushups. Looking forward to a second attempt at Max Interval Circuit today!
Anyways I'm doing this workout more for fun than anything. Its more of a discipline challenge for me that is making me super healthy at the same time.
I'm 5'10 (22 years old) at 140-145lb so I'm pretty much avg/skinner build. I didn't want to lose any more weight going into the program. I just wanna bulk up a little after I'm done with this routine. I've gained a little belly fat over the last couple years and am trying to burn it off / replace with muscle (can finally start to see abs!) through insanity.
I can already feel my energy level is so much higher due to the workout. My cardio is up, my mood is always better, I can concentrate on work longer before taking a break. Can't wait to banging out the rest of this program over the next three and a half weeks to seeing both my physical and psychological results.
I wanted to create a forum for other psychos like me . A place to track progress, get support and motivation in this crazy journey called Insanity.
I'll start off this discussion with 3 questions: -If you have done this program already, how have your results been? If your in it right now, what week are you on and hows the experience / results so far? And if your about to get into it, are you ready? and what goals (weight and stuff) do you expect? -I realized after the first two weeks that diet has a HUGE impact on results. I started eating healthy and am trying to stick with it (kind of hard when your in college though). Any tasty yet healthy recipes you guys care to share? -Also any recommendations about sister programs like p90x/+ or non-beachbody workouts?
I just want to put this out there (and it's not a criticism to the workout or anyone that uses it really), but the P90X/Insanity are the same thing as just working out for an hour a day, every single day for 60 days straight. If buying the video gets you to work out, great. But honestly, you'd accomplish just as much if you get starting strength and supplement those workouts with smaller workouts and stretches every single day.
Good luck though, I hope to see some good progress pics and a nice success story out of you.
The thing that I like about insanity is that it's motivating. You can't go into your (office/classroom/bar with friends/whatever) and say "oh, I went to the gym and began Starting Strength today" - they'll just go huh? oh, cool. and get on with their lives. If you go in to the same situation and say "I started insanity/p90x today" you're going to get two people who say "dude that's hardcore" another will tell you how much weight he (or a friend) lost on the program, and a fourth will offer to join you. That kind of thing really gets you started, and you will make moderate progress in those 60 days, plus you'll come to love working out.
Once you make working out a habit, it's so much easier to get into a better program, and if marketing and hype is the tool that is needed to get people started, I'm all for it. Just please, don't pay the ridiculous amount of money that they charge for either program >_<.
I started back in the summer this previous year, I went through the first 30 days non-stop and I never felt better in my life. I'm looking to start again before summer... Reason why I delayed finishing/starting a second round is because I was in the process of moving my entire life to a new city/Uni and now it's time for me to get back into it again, I'll just have to purchase it first .. >> While I'm waiting I'll borrow my friends copy!
I used to do Insanity Fast and Furious in the morning before I'd start the day. Its a pretty effective workout and the Fast and Furious only lasts 30 minutes. Its also hilarious when hes like "Whats up yall, this is Shaun T..." makes me laugh every time. His whole philosophy seems to be like Hip Hop abs, where you're having fun and dancing and not just counting off crunches/pushups. I dont really do it anymore but I've taken some of his exercises and worked them in to my own bodyweight routine. Whenever I'm doing a body cleanse though I still do the F&F in the morning. DIG DEEPER!
I've done about 1,5 week of p90x. From what I've seen it's kinda similar as Insanity, though p90x has some weighted exercises. For me it's a good way to get active again and increase my stamina. I don't expect to get really strong from it, then I'd be lifting heavy weights but I basically want to increase my overall fitness level.
After this I'm probably going for bodyweight exercises or picking up starting strength again. But for now, I like to stay at home, put a dvd in the player, press play and go for it.
I did Insanity and loved it. Unfortunatly, my brother took the DVDs when he moved out. Wahhh.
While I was doing Insanity I felt great. FYI, gaining and losing weight is all about what you eat and how much.
Eat healthy, and if your see yourself losing weight that you don't want too, eat more. Eventually you'll find the sweet spot where you can maintain your weight.
I've been doing Insanity for about a month and a quarter now. The results are noticeable after the first 2 weeks but have slowed down till now (only slight improvements). I'm only focusing on the Level 1 workouts though (the Level 2 hour long ones are too damn hard lol). I'm planning on sticking with the Level 1 workouts for life though.
holy shit i looked up to see what the T25 routine was, and found out is costs $120 for the basic version, and $180 for the "regular", and then there's another $60 optional set.

I guess if you spend money on it you'll have more incentive to keep at it?
haha nice let us know how it goes (and maybe a sample routine so i could try it out for a day )
also looked up tania lol. ugly face, nice body (though i'd be embarrassed that she has more prominent abs than me). but hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. my friends think i have weird taste as well.
I've done a few insanity workouts. It's ok. Let me explain why I think it's just an average workout:
I'm the the Navy and am currently doing a new command PT. It's a combination of insanity, P90X, and some other workout I can't remember at the moment. And it is REALLY intense. Three phases to the 2 month program, and it's honestly the most intense thing I've ever done. At the end I'm doing pushups/planks or whatever and I'm swimming on the gym floor because I'm literally drenched in sweat and I hurt the next day.
One of my friends is an insanity instructor. I did some of the "hardest" insanity workouts with him and they didn't compare to Phase 2 (out of 3) to my command PT. It's a good workout, but you can do some much more.
My command PT is 3 days a week, Monday Wednesday Friday. On Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday I go to the gym and lift weights. I've seen massive gains. My arms and chest are bigger than they've ever been. I'm about your build, 5'10" about 150 lbs. I also do the insanity ab workout once a week for the heck of it.
It's been over a month since I started training and I am so happy with the results. I feel that insanity doesn't push your body enough.
it's probably "average" to someone in the navy, but insanity is designed for the average folk who's probably skinny fat or fat, and wants to get into shape. they serve different goals. you don't tell someone "hey that 300lb squat is average, you should be squatting 600 cuz 300 is not intense enough." unless they really are supposed to be squatting that much lol
yeah, your navy workouts sounds sweet and very intense, but they are surreal for average joe's
I started week 2 today, I felt weak today and didnt do it as hard as I wanted too, the weekend ruined me. I was suppoed to have 1 cheat day, but I have no will power and I drank and ate bad both saturday and sunday. deff felt it today :@
Im hoping that tomorrow Ill do better, and that I will stick to the 1 day cheat day and hope no alcohol.
