That struck a little too close to home. However, you forgot the part where Schneider and/or Luongo plays like a hall of a fame goalie, posting a .940+ save percentage.

OK so talking from Penguins perspective: It would be fun to face Ottawa... as for NY Islanders, the omens are sort of scary. This year the Penguins chased the win streak record set by the 92-93 Penguins, which was probably the best hockey team I've seen in my watching lifetime and one of the strongest teams ever, who went into the playoffs on that unbeaten streak and were heavy favorites for the three-peat. In the second round they faced the unhearalded Islanders and it turned into this absolutely wild classic series, which the Islanders ended up winning in game 7 OT after the Pens had come back from down 2 in the 3rd. This happens to be the last playoff series the Islanders won, exactly 20 years ago, while now the Penguins again are cup favorites with a loaded roster that almost matched the win streak, and will face the big underdog Islanders if Ottawa holds on tonight.

East is set then: Pittsburgh vs. NY Islanders Montreal vs. Ottawa Washington vs. NY Rangers Boston vs. Toronto
|
CBC eastern bias confirmed A shame we don't get Hughson, as well as those epic CBC montages. Oh well, the rest of the CBC production is pretty bad so not that bad of a loss.
|
To finish off my predictions:
Pitts in 5 Montreal in 6 NYR in 6 Bos in 4

It just sucks when you play them in the first round because they will bang you up win or lose. Good thing our team is technically healthy. We're just playing like crap.
I'll take Chicago in 5, Anaheim in 6, Vancouver in 7 and L.A. in 6.
Nice predictions! I do agree that Anah will probably win, I just wanted to call an upset and Det is the team to do it.

As for the East:
- Penguins in four - Sens in seven - Caps in seven - Boston in six
|
i think Detroit and NYR can upset.
Boston vs toronto is gonna be one rough series. I don't see how Toronto can win it tough unless Boston screws up badly.
Montreal vs Senators...its anybody's game. Gonna be one tight series. I think whoever team has the most consistency in nets will win it. Also, if Karlsson isn't 100% yet, so that could help Montreal in the first games but as soon he gets his speed and confidence back, that could help Ottawa if the series goes a long way.
Penguins will win it in four or five.
In the west, i haven't followed much this season so it's hard to say. But i think LA could beat the Blues but could be either way too.
Chicago will roll over Minessota.
Vancouver should win against SJ. 2 good goalies for VAN. Sedin needs to step ur their game.

Can't believe that Columbus didn't make it. :-/ Bobrovsky really deserved it.

tim leiweke is quoted as saying that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not his #1 priority.... the fur flies... he then goes on Prime Time Sports for a 20 minute interview and says "Stanley Cup" about 500 times. Tim isn't even officially in his post at MLSE and he is already in damage control mode.

NYI (8) > PIT (1) in 7 MTL (2) > OTT (6) in 6 NYR (6) > WAS (3) in 6 BOS (4) > TOR (5) in 5
CHI (1) > MIN (8) in 5 ANA (2) > DET (7) in 6 VAN (3) > SJS (6) in 6 LAK (5) > STL (4) in 7
Sid will weep at Tavares' feet
I think that the East series will be a lot closer overall. The only team I don't see having a chance in the east is Tor. I think maybe vs another team, they could steal a series, but def not Boston. They're way too good in all facets of the game.
STL-LAK is the only west series that I think really can go either way. I like both of those teams a lot, and I think whoever wins will be pushing for the WCF before long. VAN-SJS could be another close one, but I just see Vancouver pulling their heads out of their ass. They're past the first round bed shitting now I think. They're on to bigger time chokes. DET, they're just really not that good anymore. I guess they have a shot since ANA was by far one of the most lucky teams this year, statistically, but they still have some good players. I think Minny is going to get fucking destroyed by Chicago. Chicago is on the war path, and I think it will be either STL or LAK who knocks them off, if anyone.

I wouldn't call that damage control. As for Hawk, those are some pretty bold predictions.

the isle pick is the only bold one?
ive got two other lower seeds winning, but i dont think anyone who watches regularly would call those two picks upsets. nyr-was and lak-stl were each seperated by a point in the standings. i am trying to find the season series for each but still, hardly upsets or bold picks at all

yes, Lewieke is a skilled orator.... making damage control look like its not damage control..
on PTS he does everything but actually say "The Toronto Maple Leafs are my #1 Priority" completely contradicting his previous comments.
TFC is to MLSE what Starcraft is to Blizzard. TML are to MLSE what WoW is to Blizzard.
I'm sure Tim was "educated on this" shortly after that interview with the Star.

Man, Senators - Habs will be so tight. We need to be able to fucking score tho, it's really frustrating. And our PP is so painful, hopefully there is some structure on it now when EK65 is back.
And gratz Colorado for Seth Jones.

Tim never shoulda said the Leafs were not his #1 priority. he was the one on the wrong planet. MLSE moved him back to planet earth just in time for the PTS interview.

The Leafs business will always be in good standing regardless of how much the team sucks. The other properties need to be brought up to speed on market value. It's what we call over reacting to something that isn't there. GL getting a NFL team Toronto lol.

MLSE is now owned by the 2 biggest media giants in canada.. not a pension fund. therefore, the leafs winning the stanley cup would bring more direct money to these "media providers" than the TFC ever could. The Teacher's Pension Fund would not directly benefit from the Leafs winning the Cup.
Rogers and Bell are another story. Also, Rogers and Bell have a presence throughout Canada the OTPF never had. The Toronto Maple Leafs are still english Canada's team.
Bell and Rogers are "high ceiling" purchasers.... not "commodity brokers". so a vague "good standing" is not enough.
Watch for Bell owned CTV to make a big push for HNIC

I kinda want a Chicago-Vancouver playoff series. That would be fun to watch, although it can't happen untill the WCF, so the chances might not be all that good.
I also find it funny that TSN isn't covering the leafs first round series (TSN is owned by either bell or rogers I'm pretty sure )
