The Teacher's Pension Fund would not directly benefit from the Leafs winning the Cup. Rogers and Bell are another story. Also, Rogers and Bell have a presence throughout Canada the OTPF never had. The Toronto Maple Leafs are still english Canada's team. Bell and Rogers are "high ceiling" purchasers.... not "commodity brokers". so a vague "good standing" is not enough. Watch for Bell owned CTV to make a big push for HNIC
The reason they bought the Leafs is content and the fact they're already making a crapton of money.

I also find it funny that TSN isn't covering the leafs first round series (TSN is owned by either bell or rogers I'm pretty sure )
CBC have the rights to playoffs.

CBC don't have the rights to the vancouver-SJ series, thats on TSN.
I heard it was a "draft" system where CBC got the first 2 picks and took TOR-BOS and OTT-MTL, so TSN then took VAN-SJ and some others. Not really sure.

I meant in relation to the Leafs.

I'd say that might change come round 2 (still not 100% sure how it works) but I suppose round 1 is "the playoffs" for the leafs
lol. TBH I hope the leafs win but I don't have any illusions that they will.

I think very few people believe they will win their first round lol.

PIT > NYI in 5 OTT > MTL in 6 NYR > WAS in 5 TOR > BOS in 6!!!!
CHI > MIN in 5 ANA > DET in 7 VAN > SJ in 7 LA > STL in 6

pfft all you haters are gonna be shocked when Toronto wins! And I'm allowed to be excited, it's been too fcking long since Toronto has been in the playoffs. I need to change my TOR > BOS prediction to a sweep for us! 4>0. We can't go out in the first round
|
great theory there....along with some nice ninja editing
uhhh umm err according the CBC's HNIC contract they get first crack at everything in Canada. TSN gets the left overs..
as a result, TSN has never "covered" a Leafs playoff series in their entire history.
if someone other than CBC EVER covers a Leaf playoff series it'll be CTV (owned by Bell-GlobeMedia)...it won't end up on a cable sports channel like TSN or SportsNet.
just to add to the backtracking//damage control theme... you'll never again hear Lewieke state the Leafs are not his #1 priority.... ever.

We can't go out in the first round indeed that would be shocking since its not probable at all, the leafs uhhggg ewww..... boston has playoff experience, they have better goalie and deeper line up. considering they have the same style of play (offensive checking + some key players) they're most likely gonna win hands down.
my predictions:
4-1 bruins 4-3 Canadien : equally good goalies, deep defensives lines, fresh young players asset but spezza is out so lets give it to the habs 4-1 pens : the pens... nuff said (i still expect NYI to steal 1 game - comon tavares make the impossible) 4-3 wash : they have a similar not so deep line up, couple star players, poor defense, nyr got better goalie, wash got momentum and your got the oveshkin factor
4-0 hawks : this team is going for the cup, wild just not good enough 4-2 kings: too robust of a team for the young blues (even though i like st-louis def line) who still havent won a match in their last 8 games vs kings 4-3 wings : when this team wakes up, its over. zetterberg and datsyuk can take anyteam in the playoffs I don't remember them not being in the playoffs since i was born so they have solid experience while the duck are definately solid enough to take 3 games. 4-2 nucks : sharks are old, thornton marleau pavelski that aint good enough to beat the sedins (they will sure choke in conference finals but not yet)

What ninja editing/backtracking? If that's regards to me I was addressing two different people. MLSE have a lot of assets & they will continue to grow it out. That's what Lewieke is there to do.
As for the Blues. I cannot believe it's going to overtime. They so outplayed the Kings. X_X Quick holding the fort like usual.

Awesome, intense game between MN and Chicago. Great story seeing Harding come in last minute (Backstrom injured his leg during warm-ups and Harding had to come in out of nowhere) and doing so well. Unfortunately MN played more or less flawlessly and they couldn't win the game. I still predict a sweep.

God I hope Corey Perry gets his ass beat in these playoffs. Fucking thug move to kick a goalie in the head.

So, maybe on Thursday we should try not throwing the puck over the boards in our zone? I swear they commit that stupid penalty every other game. Come on Detroit.

just watched the highlights from LA-STL.
that game throwing turnover by Quick was BRUTAL

He was the only reason they made it to overtime anyways though.

Come on Detroit. inexperienced d men tend to do that. Maybe they can dress Samuelson as a d man, cant see how he'd be worse than Erickson and at least he has to earn his money now.

The Leafs have over a dozen turnovers and the first period isn't even over yet. A lot of them weren't forced either sweet Jesus.
|
We have only a few players who played in the playoffs before, give them a period or a game or two to settle down.
