Uhh no your not. Its a great stat that shows how bad offencive players are at defence. Crosby cannot play defence and the only reason he will ever be on the ice for a defencive zone draw with a one goal lead and 20 seconds left in the game is he is good at faceoffs. If he was average or bad in the dot he'd never be in that zone.
Looks like I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue.
This made me laugh a lot more than it should have. Orcasgt24 whether you like it or not Crosby is going down as one of the all time greats because he is an all around player but exceeds even more so in offensive power. It was just bad luck that he was injured for such a long period of time.

That's more a result of Vancouver deciding to lose every game ever.

ok let me a little bit more blunt: you have no idea what you are talking about
can you ever substantiate your claim with something measurable other than +/- which is regarded by pretty much anyone who watches hockey (outside of dale hunter) as being more or less useless
Id have preferred 2 or 3 but I am fine with that. It was a way late. The dude wouldn't have been clobbered like that in the head if it wasn't some 2 seconds after the puck moved because he would have expected it.
still think that richards hit and boardings of that nature should result in real long suspensiosn. I fucking hate those plays.
The retarded thing about hockey is that we spend more time talking about bad hits, injuries, retaliation, head-hunting, and intent rather than good goals, scores, standings, and results. Kind of depressing in that it speaks to the state of the NHL.
wed probably talk about it way less than we do if the discipline had some type of consistency. dirty hits and supplemental discipline is always gonna be a part of the game no matter what rules you change, but it is the shit ass enforcement that is the issue

I think that's the state of everything in this day and age.

Im not saying Crosby isn't great. Offence is king in that determination. Im saying the guy is a liability defencivly. Let me put it to you this way. Guess who the Penguins place in the box to serve too many men on the ice penalties. Most of the time its 87. Guess what his average Time on Ice penalty killing is, its 40ish seconds a game. Not once this season has he been on the ice for 5 on 3 PK.
As for plus minus either you think its good or its bad. Theirs plenty of support for both camps. All stats can be manipulated to prove whatever point you want so this argument is pointless.
Crosby not PKing is on the coach, he is NOT a liability defensively. He is easily the 2nd best defensive forward on the team, but Bylsma has a love-affair with grinders.
They don't put him on the penalty kill much because he's their best offensive player, so they want him to be ready to go on once they're back to even strength. Amongst the top offensive players this year, he's actually near the top in terms of minutes on the penalty kill. Sure, some players like Getzlaf, Kovalchuk, and Toews penalty kill a lot (Crosby has over twice as many points as the latter two), but that doesn't mean that Crosby is an offensive liability. If Pittsburgh needed him to penalty kill then he would, but he's obviously much more useful in an offensive position.

Tough Game for #2 in blue
12th loss in a row when back at home after a roadtrip. They are cursed. Hockey Gods never gave em a chance.
Fuck yea Wild. Doing MN proud with a huge improvement in form over the past 10 games or so. Gonna seriously challenge Vancouver for the division at this rate. Had us worried after 15 games or so, but it's good to see that the work is finally paying off. Defense is staying as solid as ever with quality goaltending and lots of blocked shots, and the offense has improved dramatically with a better forecheck and significantly improved puck handling. Over half of the last 10 games have had 3+ goals, whereas we were nearing 2.0 G/game average over the first 15 games.
