Having Gaborik on my fantasy team makes me sad. they just do not consistently generate good chances. way too fucking much dump and chase even when it isnt working. it worked last year because the bottom six was fast and skilled enough to beat the other bottom six at it when the top six stunk it up. even though torts is a 3 line guy, he could easily roll four last year, and did at times. having arty dubi on the third and prust and boyle on the fourth meant they could easily beat opposing 3rds nd foruths. those dudes have been replaced by offensive black holes like pyatt, powe, asham and halpburn. that really fucking sucks since at least two of those guys (or 1 + boyle and miller) are getting 10-12m a night. the depth is fucking awful. the 3rd sucks and cant generate offense at all, and the 4th just all around fucking blows. I love JT Miller, but he is not an offensive dynamo. theyve been running the third as their shutdown line because they cant do much else. i saw the advanced stats recently and boyle is drawing the opposing team talent and taking defensive draws like 65% of the time. ugh. so when the top six runs cold as it has during this 3 game slide outside of maybe cally and stepan they are totally fucked. they seem to be incorporating a bit more carrying the blueline for the good skill dudes in the top six but fuck. not related, but no one really talks about it but stepan probably has been the best ranger forward not named nash this year. takes a lot of important draws, pretty consistent as far as offensive contribution, pretty good in his own end. Guess who the Penguins place in the box to serve too many men on the ice penalties. Most of the time its 87. Guess what his average Time on Ice penalty killing is, its 40ish seconds a game. Not once this season has he been on the ice for 5 on 3 PK. As for plus minus either you think its good or its bad. Theirs plenty of support for both camps. All stats can be manipulated to prove whatever point you want so this argument is pointless. No, +/- is almost universally agreed to be a useless stat. Stop trying to parrot that shit. It's only actually used in a debate by people like yourself, who clearly don't know what the hell they are talking about because they dont watch hockey enough to understand why it is worthless, and don't understand why the league's leading scorer getting meaningful pk time on a nightly basis means that he is actually quite defensively responsible. You can search the ice time stats for every single team and you will not find a single top scorer leading his team in pk minutes. Guys like Toews, Datsyuk, Bergeon are all third or fourth options on their team. Teams give that responsibility to bottom six guys so their top forwards arent taking regular shifts + PP + PK and logging 30 minutes a night. They also do it because pking is inherently risky because you will be blocking shots, and it is a lot easier to stomach Craig Adams breaking his ankle blocking a shot and replacing his 10 minutes a night and five points than it is to replace Sid and his 21 minutes a night and 48 points. If there is a star forward getting pk time over bottom six pluggers, it means he is really good defensively. but please, since this conversation is pointless since stats can be manipulated, do everyone in this thread a favor and stop using them to support your crappy arguments

He does not get a - for that. He is, however, a healthy scratch next game.

The next highest forward is Stamkos at 61st in the league, playing 3:34 less per game. His TOI is a bit skewed though because he tends to play the full 2 minutes on the PP, which is basically just him chilling at the blue line waiting for a pass/criss-crossing with Zidlicky endlessly, then leisurely retrieving the puck once it is inevitably cleared a number of times. (I thought Matt Shaw was supposed to know how to run a PP -_-). He's also a fixture on the PK (dem shorties) and fills in on the 4th line from time to time because Barch/Janssen can't be trusted with that many minutes. He actually had to leave the game for a bit during the third(?) period on Saturday to go plug into an IV or something to re-hydrate. His stamina is unbelievable and it's the first time he's had to do this, but Devils are stretched very very thin on forwards at the moment, so it's concerning. We haven't seem him use that extra gear that makes him such an explosive skater for a while =\ oh, and lol @ Kostitsyn and everyone's reaction on the bench, haha!

Corey Perry, 8 year 69 million dollar deal with Anahiem. While not an expert on the player, I definitely didn't think he was worth near that much. Edit: With the contracting cap, I wouldn't be too happy with my team putting that much toward one player who isn't named Crosby.

the perry and getzlaf contracts high for sure, but there was no way they retained those two without overpayment. Outside of possibly Semin, they were the only two legit studs that were going UFA that would still be in their prime. There would have been an insane bidding war. The next best guys were the old crowd (Jagr, Iggy, Elias, etc) and guys who are a couple ticks down as far as skill (Riberio, Roy, Horton, etc) It sucks for them that they overpaid, but they are at least paying proven first liners rather than trading them for picks or prospects with no gaurantee. They missed last year and they play in a mediocre market. They can't afford to go through a five year rebuild Semin is gonna get fuckin paid now.

Oh dang, a wild minnesota fan appears! (pun intended) Wasn't expecting there to be any here haha GG man, after we scored that first goal you guys really cranked it up a notch. Nice response by your team : ) The huge misplay by Ballard to create Cullen's goal was a back breaker That was our last game against you guys this season, season series ends in a 2-2 tie .... gg's!
