I feel that England is just a 2nd tier team, with good players, some very good (Rooney, Lampard, Gerard, Cole), but on average a lot weaker than teams like Spain, Germany, and even Argentina or the Netherlands. If the individuals of your team aren't the best, you can still be decent if you have an idea of playstyle or at least a team cohesion. But that's not the case in the England team because of internal disputes (Terry/Ferdinand, Lampard/Gerard), lack of a good management (or no stability) and the recent' tactical weakness' trend in the Premier League (it's just my opinion, the EPL is probably the most entertaining league but tactically speaking....).

The 'problem' is that the club culture is so huge there that the national team suffers. Look at Spain, during the season Barça and Madrid are always fighting (on the field, out of the field), but when the national team time comes up they're united.
And I agree that having 6-7 players from Barça + 3-4 from Madrid, and the same in Germany with Dortmund/Bayern, must really help.

I wouldn't go that far. The Netherlands looked pretty awful at the last Euro xD

I just meant individually they are a top tier team. After that, their team level is average because of egos... I think that the 4 teams I listed are the best at 1 by 1 player. But for example, I feel like Italy are stronger than Netherlands, with less individual skill but a much stronger teamplay (thanks to the Juve base?). I also think that 2 or 3 South American teams can be rated better than Netherlands (Chile, Columbia, Brazil/Uruguay), and having the World Cup in Brazil should favorise them even more.

OOo Ysellian!

Jose Mourinho has told Sky Sports he loves London, he will return to the Premier League and, most intriguingly, he will not rule out a return to Chelsea.

The Real Madrid boss was in the capital after having attended Brazil's game with Russia at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

Mourinho is widely expected to leave Real this summer, and suggested last week that he was ready to return to one of his former jobs, which many people took as a hint he would be back at Chelsea.

"I cannot deny that, despite this weather, I love it here, and as I said I have a house and I have big emotional connections with Chelsea and one day I think naturally I will have to be back to English football, or to Chelsea or to another club.

"Of course, Chelsea means to me differently than other clubs. Chelsea is in my heart as Inter is for example.

"One day I have to be back but again it is normal that I am in London. The same way I walk in my home city in Portugal, people see that as normal and this is normal, the same thing is normal when I am in London."

"You know, there is a lot of talk but I think people has to understand that I can be in London very often, because we have a house here and I love it here and our daughter is coming to study in London and being in London should be seen as a normal thing for us," he said.

"But every time I come and people see me shopping, people start immediately making connections about a return and I feel it a little bit because I say every day I love it here and I have a fantastic time, and that I will return one day so, to be fair, I give a little contribution to the speculation.

"But at the end of the day I am in Madrid and very committed with ambitions for the club for the rest of the season.

"We are in the last eight of the Champions League and we have a final against our rivals Atletico Madrid.

"People who know me know I am professional and that in this moment I only think of Real. "

QPR midfielder Ji-Sung Park set to retire from football at the end of next season

The 32-year-old has struggled since signing from Manchester United in a £2m deal last summer and is ready to call an end to his career even if QPR avoid relegation from the Premier League.

His father Sung-jong Park said: "Nobody knows the future; maybe he could play one more year with a new team after next season. But I think [Ji-Sung] has made his mind up to retire. He thinks he's played enough.

"He's never had times like this with PSV Eindhoven or Manchester United. My son has had difficult times at QPR this season; it was a new experience to him.

"Ji-sung said it's difficult to keep his feel for the game as his playing time is inconsistent, but he doesn't have any hard feelings."

Funny. You would think with all that practice on warming the bench or being out of match day squads at Manchester would've prepared him for what he's going through at QPR. Maybe he thought he would be top dog in his new club, and his pride has taken a bruising from which it can't recover, without him leaving, that is. Still, 32 isn't that young to retire (especially since he's made good money from endorsements and such) and perhaps he just doesn't have his heart in the game anymore. That and his body must be getting worn out from all the running he does in games. My guess is that he'll go back to Korea, join a club, and play for a few more years. He'll make some easy money, won't have to play as hard, will automatically be in the first 11, and be back in his home surroundings. I can't really blame him if he wants to take that route.

Well tbh Belgium suffers the same fate. Players from everywhere who underperform once put in 1 team compared to what they should be capable of. I think automatisms do play a very important role, and that is what worldcups etc are so important for. There you actually have the time to make a team, those 1 week trainings for an international match are not enouf to accomplish that. But for Belgium they finally start playing better as a team so it does look like a bright future, hopefully England finds the same harmony.

No don't be silly where the hell are England going to find players like Hazard DeBruyne Meralias Fellaini Kompany Cortios Vermalen Benteke from We have not had that blessing, and i think that is a big a blessing as Barcelona when they produced Xavi Messi Iniesta Pique in the same group. Once in a lifetime thing.

It's partially blessing, partially having a good educational system. In England, I see more kids playing football than over here (and England's population is about 4 times ours and 5 times Belgium's) so sooner or later the talents should manifest themselves. Good thing even some Premier League teams are playing their (own) younger players nowadays, instead of just importing from elsewhere. This could already make a huge difference in 10 years, as upcoming players need playtime to mature and improve. But agreed, playing like a team is a thing too, just look at the Netherlands last EC .

This. There's a reason I fucking hate the Spanish team/La Liga; Spanish players are a bunch of whining, diving bitches. Doesn't matter if they're good. It hurts the integrity of the game.

COME ON RIBERY FINISH THAT SHIT!

I totally feel the same.
I like Real, but the way they(the Spanish) play is disgusting.

They have become the new Italians.

Ohh didn't realize it had started already, though it was one hour later, ty for the info. Germany is 3-0 up against kazakhstan in the 2nd game between them in 4 days, I'm really tempted to switch to france vs spain.
