Yeah right. With a 12 point lead in the EPL, and the second leg of a Champions League knockout stage at home with an away goal on one of the favorites to win the tournament, United have a very legitimate shot at the treble. They definitely care about the FA Cup.

Guardiola is the most overhyped coach in the history of football. He did exactly what? With this Barca Team everyone could have won the Triple. Besides that he has achieved exactly nothing as a coach. I hope he fails like shit, so Dortmund gets another Double for free.

Yeah, the fact that Barcelona does so well no that he's left them shows how useless of a coach he was.

It's called "resultadismo" in Spanish. Nobody talks about the 95% of the games Barcelona wins against this kind of strategy... because they win 95% of their games vs significantly worse teams. let's look at their win rate vs chelsea, milan and real madrid over the last 2 seasons? here's my real comment on this whole issue anyway: real madrid is legitimately at the same level as barcelona and they've just been playing _better_ than them their last several matches. like, the teams are equally good, but then real madrid has managed to counter barcelonas style while barcelona hasn't been able to adapt to the tactical changes of real madrid. that's what has happened in the last two seasons. barcelona vs chelsea last year was a fluke and their game vs milan this year was barcelona playing at a much worse level than usual - honestly I'm not confident in milan's ability to advance even with a 2-0 lead because I think barcelona is significantly better. but them being slightly outperformed in the classicos of this and the previous season is because real madrid is just as good as they are just with more diversity. and the reason why barcelona wins 95% of their matches vs inferior la liga teams is that they've perfected their style of play and it always dominates teams that are significantly worse. if you look at the player lineup of barcelona then there's only like what, 2-4 teams in the world with equally good squads. real madrid and bayern munchen are up there, then I guess the two manchester clubs are a little worse. so barcelona _should_ be defeating all those other teams regardless of tactical preferences. and they're doing a great job even if they had two bad games just now, which might be due to tiredness or whatever. there's no clear cut answer to defeating barcelona. but currently, I'd consider real madrid a definite favourite in any head to head match they play, because they have an equally good squad and more diversity with their tactical dispositions.
Which is why I would favour RM in any kind of 2 legged fixture against any team, I think I mentioned this even when they were dropping points in the league.
The way Barca plays the margin of error is zero. I dont buy the argument that its a "safe" style of play.
Munich has been pretty good to and Juve could raise quite a few eyebrows.
And yeah, Milan nearly let Arsenal in it last year so they are wildly unpredictable, a quick score by Barca and the return leg could potentially turn into a mauling.

This 'anyone could've won the treble with that barcelona squad' bullshit needs to stop. Either educate yourselves or shut the fuck up. Guardiola was certainly blessed with a supremely talented squad, but that only goes so far in winning games and trophies. There are many talented teams in the history of the game that never reached their full potential, which you cannot say of Guardiola's Barcelona. All the talent in the world means nothing if you cannot motivate your players or get them to play exactly the way you want. I will be the first to admit that Guardiola and Barcelona was a special fit, one he may never find again with another club, and vice versa. He was born and raised in their brand of football. Other than his intimate knowledge of the club and their philosophy, he is widely reported as a great man-manager of players, which is critical when dealing with big names. He also overhauled Rijkaard's squad and made some brave changes as well as taking chances with youngsters.
I concede that some people take praising him and his achievements a little too far. But you'd either have to be ignorant or an idiot to sit there and say anyone could've achieved what Guardiola did with that Barcelona squad.

With the lineups of Real Madrid and Manchester United, one away goal isn't very big and might not be enough, Madrid isn't in bad shape at all, how likely is it they will be held to a clean sheet? Real Madrid is still the favorite in the tie, and I think 2-2 is more likely than 0-0. When you are playing at RM or Barcelona or Manchester United or Bayern (any of the high powered offense teams), 0 away goals is a disaster, 1 away goal is treading water, you need 2 or more to feel good.

Wow... Rafa fucking Benitez!!! When you thought he couldn't get any worst...
"Everybody is interim, because after you there is another one. In this case they didn't have anyone so why did they put interim? It's just to say to everyone that he was in Liverpool and then just in case we will put interim and then we wash our hands."
"Every game if they continue singing and they continue preparing banners, they are wasting time."
"I will leave at the end of the season so they don't need to waste their time with me, they have to concentrate on supporting the team, that is what they have to do. "
"If we are in the Champions League I will be the happiest man in the world but the next year I would leave anyway because I finish my contract so they don't need to worry about me. They have to concentrate on supporting the team.
"I have a contract until the end of the season, that's it, so they don't need to worry about me.
+ Show Spoiler [Comments] +I have a title, someone decided the title would be interim. Why? Just in case," he said.
"OK fine, if they want to blame me for everything that is wrong and then they said they would put interim just in case. Fine, that is your decision, I don't agree but that is your decision, and now everybody has to take responsibility.

"If we are in the Champions League I will be the happiest man in the world but the next year I would leave anyway because I finish my contract so they don't need to worry about me. They have to concentrate on supporting the team.
"I have a contract until the end of the season, that's it, so they don't need to worry about me.
"It was surprise for me, [the title] interim. I have a contract to the end of the season, I said before I have to do my job, that's it but this group with [their] agenda they carry on and I think it is wrong because it is bad for the team.
"Someone decided and I think that was mistake. It's very clear, I don't know who, but it was mistake.
"I can't change the titles and the perception so it doesn't matter now. What I have to do is be sure that I give 100 per cent every single day. They will know I am trying to do my best.
"The manager is the manager, one month, three months, seven months it doesn't matter.
"I think the reason why the group of fans is not happy is because I was Liverpool manager, we played in the Champions League, massive games, that's it. You cannot change that, they were really good, we were really good, it was a confrontation at this stage.
"Now I am the manager, and a professional. I want to clarify I will do my best until the last minute but if they carry on with this agenda they are damaging the club and the team and next year if we cannot achieve the top four, they have to take a bit of responsibility.
"I didn't know about the title, I have an agent and I was surprised but they couldn't change things because they announced that. I thought it was a mistake but I still couldn't change the interim [title]."
"I have been in charge in football for 26 years, I won the Champions League, I won the FIFA World Club Cup, the FA Cup, the Italian Super Cup, the Spanish league twice, nine trophies - all the trophies you can win at club level so this group of fans are not making any favourites with the team and they are singing and wasting time preparing banners," he said.
"And it is because someone made a mistake - they put my title interim manager, and I will leave at the end of the season so they don't need to waste their time with me, they have to concentrate on supporting the team, that is what they have to do. Every game if they continue singing and they continue preparing banners, they are wasting time.
"What they have to do is support the team, if we cannot achieve what we expect to achieve which is to be in the top four and Champions League for next year, I will leave and they will stay in the Europa League and they have to take responsibility too. If they put players under pressure or they did not create a good atmosphere in Stamford Bridge they are making a big mistake as the rest of the fans would like to see them in the Champions League next year.
"So it would be much better for everyone to support the team and back the players, I am the manager and will manage the team, I like to manage players and not names, and I will make decisions and at the end of the season I will leave anyway as I am interim, as they say, they are wasting time.
"I have proved in these last months I want to win every single game, I am professional and if we win I will be the happiest in the world but if a group of fans continue with their agenda and wasting time it is their decision.
"I am really pleased here, I have a top side and a good group of players who work hard and it is a top club, it is not a problem - the problem is a group of people who can say what they want but they have to support the team and they don't need to worry about me as I will leave at the end of the season. I will do my job and try and win every game until the last minute.
"It is a team in transition - in the past you had Drogba, Essien, Kalou - a talented team with experience and now we have a group with talent but it is a time of transition, they need to realise that when I came here the team was not in the Champions League and will do my best until the last minute. They are damaging the image of the club and the other fans because people think that is all the fans.
"I will do my job and I will try to do my best. It will be easier at Stamford Bridge and have the fans supporting the team instead of thinking of what can we do, what can we say."
Asked how long he would be in charge, Benitez insisted as far as he knew it would be June, when his deal runs out.
"I will be manager until the last minute when somebody decides no, you won't be here in June," he continued.
"I will do my job, no problem, to manage is to decide the team, the subs and everything until the end. I did it for 26 years with nine titles and a lot of trophies in different countries, so I think I have enough experience. So if they want to sing and prepare banners, they have to take responsibility too.
"They have to decide what they want to do. What I've said is what I've done in my life as a professional and what I want to do in the future, hopefully win trophies too.
"A group of fans have an agenda. I will do my job until the last day, and after I will be really pleased if we can win trophies or be in the top four, three, two. I will do my job until the end."

Lol. Name me a club in the world that would not kick up a fuss and get behind a manager who has replaced a club legend that won them a champions league trophy who was enemy number 1 a few years ago.
Would be the equivalent of Mourinho becoming the manager of Barcelona, replacing Pep after they won the champions league for a 3rd time. Would go down like a ton of bricks.
Imagine if Benitez replaced Alex Ferguson...would United fans get behind him etcetc.
Also, as someone said on Twitter last night. Benitez uses these "rants" to get himself sacked. Did it at Inter and Liverpool, now he has done it at Chelsea

Rome: Lazio have been ordered to play their next two home European games behind closed doors after their fans were found guilty of racist behaviour by Uefa for the fourth time this season.
Fenerbahce must also play their next home European match in an empty stadium and face a suspended one-season ban from Uefa competition after supporters threw fireworks from outside the stadium in the Europa League last-32 game with BATE Borisov. That match was also played behind closed doors as part of an earlier punishment for Fenerbahce.
The Turkish club, thrown out of Europe last season for domestic match-fixing, have been fined €60,000 (Dh289,020) and the European competition ban is deferred for a probationary period of two years.
Uefa announced the measures in a statement on Wednesday, which also included a ban for Fenerbahce’s Raul Meireles in their last-16 two-legged tie with Viktoria Plzen next month after his red card against Borisov.
UEFA just announced some punishments

As if Benitez, or any other coach for that matter, had any fault or blame on that. Blame Abramovich or whoever else that calls the shots at Chelsea.

What? So Benitez was forced to take the job? Benitez knew he was being called Interim manager, didn't say another until 3months later and moans about it? Also pretty much blaming everyone but himself for Chelsea's poor run?

He doesn't have to play him anymore (minus in Europa League) yet he still does

I was talking more about being villified by the fans from the very beginning, under such circumstances it can be hard to work. And why would he not accept the job? Sure, Chelsea isn't the healthiest environment to be in, and he was indeed hired as an interim, but it's still the current champions league winner, plus he was jobless for a long while then, and surely by achieving good results the "interim" tag would have been dropped.

Who cares even if he won the premiership, Chelsea's management would find a reason to fire him or any other manager that comes by after a 3 game bad stretch in the upcoming season or whatever.

It's been lose-lose for managers of Chelsea for the entire Abramovich era unfortunately :/

The MLS is almost here can't wait
According to reports, terms with the player have been agreed to, but Spanish club Levante is demanding that the player's release clause be paid before the prospective Designated Player makes a move to MLS.
Martins, for his part, seems to be confident the deal will get done, and BBC Sport is reporting the contract could be signed as early as Saturday, when Seattle open their season at home against Montreal (10:30 pm ET, watch LIVE online).
"We are on the verge of finalizing everything and it should be another step in my career," Martins told BBC Sport. "I'm happy because Levante will benefit from this and it will also help the club financially. What the American club has offered is a good deal for everyone involved."
In order to add Martins to the roster, Seattle must free up one of their three DP spots, which are currently occupied by Mauro Rosales, Shalrie Joseph and Christian Tiffert. Tiffert has not been in preseason camp with the team, reportedly because of an undisclosed injury, and is the prohibitive favorite to have his contract bought out by the club.
