LOL Everton. Had to have been a major snag to stop the transfer. Arsene, pick him up if possible. Although the possible gang connection someone brought up a page back might put pins in the wheels.
Coutinho is good. I haven't been able to watch much Serie A this season, but he's a tricky guy. I think he'll do well in Pool.
Wasn't aware that Cech signed a new deal. How long is he tied down for? Courtois is young, so there's no hurry in making him number one, but being loaned out year after year might tear at you. I can see Butland getting loaned out as well, so I'm unsure if he wants to sign. Perhaps sign with a mid- to low-tier PL team to get a lot of playing time before moving to a top club could be better for him.

Cech has committed himself to the club until 2016
He signed new deal after Champions League win xDDD
He will probably be sold/let go by the end of that. Cortios/Butland step up! xD
Everton are saying they stopped the deal due to his Medical was a bit "strange" and they wanted to lower the upfront price and pay "x" amount of it over time and on appearance fee's. Twente said No, thus deal broke down

Ronaldo's performances in Portugal have shown that he really doesn't require a supporting cast to be able to show his greatness but Messi has left us in doubt...his performances with Argentina haven't been what you would expect when you have Aguero and Tevez on your side.
On the other hand, people can also say that Messi elevates Barca's game (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2240824/Barcelona-Lionel-Messi-says-Arsenal-boss-Arsene-Wenger.html) but tbh I think it's really a symbiotic thing...that team provides him the perfect opportunity to succeed.
I believe that, when all's said and done...Messi is 'better' when surrounded by Barca than Ronaldo when surrounded by RM...BUT in terms of who would be better in a wide range of teams...I think Ronaldo would be. I think there are plenty of teams where Messi would fail to make as much of a mark but I struggle to think of a type of game that Ronaldo would not be able to adapt to. So wrong! First of all, Madrid is far from Barcelona's level collectively, which means that individual skill will stand out more in the end. Secondly, you have not seen recent (1 or 2 years) Argentina games to say that Messi 'has left us in doubt', Argentina had no good coach until now with Sabella and the team is starting to look really well. Portugal, and Ronaldo, on the other hand, have shown almost nothing except that they could beat a retardedly bad Netherlands and then a weaker Czech Republic. Ronaldo played good 2 out of 5 games in this tournament and we can easily say that Iniesta outshined him in this competition.
Additionally, Messi seemed really shy and is starting to understand that he needs more authority to carry his team (mainly Argentina), and he's 2 years younger than Ronaldo. Ronaldo is compared with Messi only because he is in the same league, and in rival clubs. He's so far from Messi it's not even funny... So yeah maybe he would succed more in the EPL because of his physical assets but we'll never know.

What are the benefits of loans?
as far as I know, the player returns after a year(?) with the team. the player gains experience (due to more playing time probably?)
why would you loan a player? To cut wages for a player you hardly use and nobody wants to buy. Arsenal do this a lot. When you loan a player you still pay all or most of their wages. Unless its in the loan terms. And someone mentioned its the good player that cant be afford to be bought thats sold. Dafuq? While that does happen often enough. Its actually if anything more kids who are a part of your plans for the future and need top or high tier playing experience that get loaned out and the benefit (usually) to the team that is loaned the player is that they pay part or very little of the players wages, get a semi free promising young player for their squad. It also allows the club who loans the player to track his progress. Wilshere is pretty good example.
Not sure what you're arguing about Rebs I'm just giving another reason beyond the reasons he just named, because loaning out players for kids to get experience is definitely one of the major reasons but most certainly not the only one. Barcelona loaned Ibrahimovic out to Milan before Milan made it a permanent deal for example.

Ronaldo needs to carry Portugal so hard it's not even funny. Argentina has Portugal beaten in every single position except for one, at least if Messi isn't playing in that position. You can argue about Pepe, but his temper is a double edged sword. Portugal has been exceptionally weak in recent years and the only reason they are somehow keeping up is because of Ronaldo. Now if Ronaldo had people like Figo, Rui Costa, Couto, Baia, Andrade, Pinto, Gomes the comparison would be more legit, but as it stands you really can't compare the two when Messi has guys like Mascherano, Garay, Gaitan, Aguero, Lavezzi and Higuain around him.
edit: Even forgot Banega and Di Maria.

I hear the problem with Fer was his knee. What a shame. He would have been good in the PL, methinks.

It's a legit line of thinking, I was especially thinking that watching RM without Ronaldo, man that was a mess of a team, he elevates them. Though maybe if they took time to adapt to not having him they would develop other ways of attacking, but Mourinho has probably realized that leaning on Ronaldo is the simplest and most effective way to be elite for this team. And being able to be that meal ticket for the 2nd strongest team in the world is a pretty sure sign of greatness. I have no doubt if it were possible to measure stats that some other sports use like Wins Above Replacement (the amount of wins a team generates with that player than what they would have with the average 2nd stringer in that position), Ronaldo would be clear #1.
Though talking the game today it's still not that solid without Casillas/Pepe/Ramos cause they also have to play defense.
We'll never be able to directly compare their greatness though, cause it's all about philosophy and their situations make it apples and oranges.

So intrigued to see how well Becchio can do in the Premiership, guy has been banging in the goals for fun in the championship (and his career) for Leeds, will be interesting if he can bring it up a level.
Also LOL @ QPR letting Faurlin go, he was the only one who actually looks good on the ball in the midfield, very good passer and pops up with the odd goal. If 'Arry rates him lower than Granero that is his first mistake he has made in the QPR dugout

Anyone has any idea if any radios online are going to be commentating the game?
I can't stand the shitty quality streams I can "access" here at work, and well, I rather listen to it than to watch it in shit quality.

edit: Even forgot Banega and Di Maria. Sure they attacking line is top top tier, maybe the best in the world, with Germany, but that's it. Their midfield and defense are really average except for Mascherano and one of the CB I can't remember the name (not Demichelis). Portugal's defense and midfield is what saved them during the Euro, and 2 good games of Ronaldo against average opponents, don't kid yourself. Joao Pereira, Pepe, Coentrao are all top tier, Bruno Alves is starting to get old but he's still better than the Demichelis of the last years...
You really should look more Argentina games if you think Messi is not at least as influencial as Ronaldo. Ronaldo has been, like Messi, a 'disappointment' (compared to what they achieve in clubs) in selection until the last year where both seem to have improved their game.

Expensive tickets, no big transfers. Yeah, it really sucks to be an arsenal fan nowadays.
The RM's defence is kind of a farce, this could be really ugly.

I hope Arsene picks up a fucking defensive midfielder. Can't continue to get out-muscled against the other big clubs.
Not gonna happen, not with Arteta (and hopefully Coquelin) coming back soon and Aaron Ramsey in form.
All the Arsenal transfer rumors are still about David Villa.

O no it was meant for the other guy. I just suck at clicking the right post. my bad.
Also when your talking about loan deals as a whole. The actual number of kids being loaned around is about 5-1 compared to big player loan deals. That was my point.
