Hmm, I suppose they could mix in some fats or whatever with the actual ground beef to make it more profitable but I mean, the only thing you do with the meat itself it ro run it through a meat grinder, which wouldn't really qualify as processing assuming that's the only thing they do with it. Not sure about their process though but for myself I just run it through a grinder.

I see. but isnt the meat in mince beef pretty crappy? just the waste like in sausages etc?

Not sure how to describe but if you would go to a regular butcher the way they do it is like, the cow or whatever animal they chop up is devided into different parts, not sure what it's called in english but here is a swedish pic, you can probably understand some of the pieces:

All the small bits and pieces that gets left over, or the stuff they cut away to make the piece of meat look nice, are thrown in a pile and then put into a meat grinder. So ground beef is made of the pieces that are too small or doesn't look good enough.

in other words, its the crap that they couldnt sell for the regular price
the question still stands: is it better to buy organic mince meat than cheap (i.e. crap quality) cuts?

Ya, that doesn't make the meat any worse quality though, it just looks shit, personally I'd buy the organic ground beef.

It's not crap. It's the same good meat, just the parts that they trimmed off. It CAN be crap depending on where you get it from.

Or you can buy your own meat and mince it yourself. Then you know exactly what goes into it. Helps to work up an appetite too!

Ok, so on a scale of cardboard to edible, where does ramen actually rank? I mean, I know we're not talking about hard boiled organic eggs, here, but it's a really convenient sort of snack... (Yes, eggs are too when I remember to make them and throw them in the fridge for later.)

Since ramen usually contains dubious substances like flavour enhancers, I personally wouldn't eat it in any situation. Aside from that I don't think it's the worst thing.

Anyone have any recommendations for decent snacks and things to eat for breakfast? I'm allergic to both eggs and nuts so that throws out a lot of the things I find online when I do a quick google search.

Bacon and fruit? Turkey bacon if you want less fat. If I don't feel like a hardboiled egg for a snack, I grab an apple.

As for the bacon, I'm sure you'll get different kinds of answers, but it definitely beats eating a bagel, since starting your day off by spiking your insulin levels isn't really ideal.

If you want to cook bacon quickly, you can pick up one of those "microwave grill" things, and cook it in the microwave under a paper towel for a few minutes.

yes, but you have to attend it. Cooking it in the microwave, you can throw it in, grab a quick shower, and voila, it's cool when you're done showering.

I prefer pan cooked, myself, but was just putting the other option out there too.

Plus, those microwave grills are often easier to clean than a pan if you need to munch and run and wash the dishes later. Nothing worse than trying to get day old grease out of a skillet. (Unless you use nonstick for bacon, but I've had that ruin some nonsticks.)

It depends how attached you are to traditional breakfast foods for breakfast and what you have available. I tend to eat a small helping of white fish or lean red meat (wild alaskan I caught/killed myself because I'm lucky like that, for some reason I don't like salmon for breakfast though) and some fruit when I get sick of eggs. (I like eggs but if you eat them every day you need a break on occasion.) This is assuming no bread/cereal products.

If you just want fast its pretty hard to go wrong with fruit and it allways seems nice at breakfast.

Thanks for the suggestion, I already eat fruit for breakfast and as a snack. I can't get behind bacon though, I just don't like eating it.

This sounds like a good idea. In the morning I always feel hungry but I never want to sit down and eat. However I'm sure I'd be able to choke down some fish since that's pretty light.

I seem to have a problem with eating big. This is really frustrating because I also have a pretty hard time gaining weight, which will eventually really hold back my lifting progress.
Every time I eat a big meal (big meaning....in the ballpark of 1500 kcal,) I have diarrhea less than twenty minutes after I'm done eating. Every single time. Now, I know I'm obviously not shitting out what I just ate, but I'm concerned that I'm not properly digesting/absorbing macros from whichever meal happens to be evacuating at that moment. Does this happen to anyone else? Is this even something I need to be concerned about?
Obvious solution is to just eat smaller quantities more frequently, but this is not always possible with my work schedule. I also find it hard to stomach food when I'm still feeling full from a recent meal, but I'd obviously be able to get past that if it were the only thing holding me back.
