Dude, it's gonna be hard if you give yourself an out like that. Gotta go all the way man, and maybe just have a cheat day for sodas or something.
I quit soda by switching first to unsweetened tea and drinking the crap out of that, (gotta be specific in the south ) and then from that switched to water. I also always have a water bottle around me now. Don't even like soda anymore.

Are fruits good or not good for you? I know this sounds like a dumb question but I get confused. To me, they are good and an important part of a diet. I know they have natural sugars and as such, you do not want to over do it. But I have had some fitness professionals tell me to eat little to no fruits at all. What is your take on this? Anyone?

Fruits are fine in moderation as with most things. If you like it, have some. If not, then don't.

If you drink them at home, the first thing to do is to not bring them home (except for a special occasion). I only ever buy a bottle of soda anymore if I'm having company that I know will want it. One thing that helps is I keep a brita pitcher in my fridge, so I always have cold water to drink. I drink tons of water now. I drink it at home, but try to not drink it. It's kind of hard because we have a decent amount of stuff at the house and it tastes really good with some food, but I can usually avoid it.
Also, @whoever told me to drink lots of water: I have a bit of an issue. I drink tons of water when I don't have school (like 1.5 liters+ a day) but I'm not allowed to drink water in school outside of the cafeteria. I can usually still get in a half liter during school, but that's 7 hours of my day or more that I'm not drinking water. Outside of school though, I've been drinking tons of water, but it can be hard if I'm really craving the caffeine or the taste.

I'd rather get something that i know they can't screw up, even if it means that I have to "cheat" and drink it.
Edit: I guess the issue is mostly if I can't drink water constantly throughout the day. I also can't drink water if I'm not thirsty. Soda I can basically drink at anytime (basically anytime at least) but water if I'm not thirsty I have a lot of trouble forcing myself to drink. Thanks for the tips so far guys, definitely trying to replace more of my drinks with water. Is juice ok or should I just not drink any OJ with breakfast? I figure it *has* to be at least better than soda.

I don't know your home situation, but maybe you should bring it up with them. Reducing the amount of it at home could be good for everyone. On the other hand, even mentioning this could be stepping on someone's toes, so you will have to tread lightly, here.
edit: nothing wrong with a bit of juice, but drinking a lot of it is almost as bad as soda. It's much worse than say, eating a fruit.

It was more that we bought it in a huge amount (go Costco(?) >_>) so I've just never gotten past the huge amount of soda that we had built up. Honestly it's not even that I was drinking *that* much soda. It's between 1-2 cups of soda a day, usually not much more unless I go to a restaurant. I drink much more water than soda most days, but it's just kind of hard to resist the cravings for caffeine.

Even 1 can a day can add up to quite a bit over a long run. If you're looking for caffeine, coffee (without a ridiculous amount of cream or sugar) or tea are much better. They'll have more caffeine and less sugar compared to soda which makes you crash. edit:wording

Yeah coffee has about 4-5x as much caffeine as soda (i fucking hate it when people are like oh i'll just have a soda for some energy because a) the 'sugar rush' is a fucking myth and b) soda has ~30mg of caffeine in it thats not going to do shit /end rant) and doesnt have a dumptruck of sugar in it to make you feel like shit.

I've been doing the stronglift 5x5 for about 3 months and plan on doing it for another month just because I took a very short break. I'm guessing after the 5x5 workout I'm suppose to be doing the "brosplit" as I think people call them lol. Now I like doing my research before hand as many of us should and since I will be doing the brosplit soonish I was wondering if this guys youtube channel is good enough for myself (a beginner) to follow when doing the brosplit.
here are a couple video's to give an example: back video bicep video shoulder video

I would suggest push/pull
for legs, squatting motions fall under push, and deadlift/hip hinge motions fall under pull
Obviously, pullups, rows, etc fall under pull... and push has your miltiary press, dips, bench, etc.

how i say to the instructor to stop fucking about the exercise politely? damn im thinking on going later just to dont see him. 1st he say that im doing my squats too fast... later he told me that the overhead press i must do it sit down cause im to weak and finally that dead lift is not from the floor cause that was used 30 years ago and is not updated, and that it can cause an injury FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
also, my gym uses kg so instead of adding 5lb im adding 5kg, is that dangerous?

There's different types of coffee too. I love french press which I grind & brew at home and Americano (espresso + hot water) if I'm at a coffee shop.

Well a kg is 2.2 pounds, so when you are supposed to add 5 lb and you add 5kg you are adding over twice as much as you are supposed to. What actually matters is the total weight you are lifting, though.

@Topin - Can you just ask him to leave you alone? lol.

Do you not have 2.5kg plates at your gym? 5kg jumps are fine for deadlift, ok for squats for a while, kinda hard for bench and rows and really hard for OHP.
Next time he tries to correct your form just thank him, put headphones on and ignore him. If he tries to tell you to change something completely just say "thanks, but this is part of the program I'm on, and I like it this way", put headphones on and completely ignore him. Be polite while still showing him that you don't give a crap about what he has to say.

you can try adding in another set if you're struggling to add on more weight. for example, if you're normally doing 5x5, you can try doing 6x5 before you add more weight. this will let you reach 5x5 on the next weight increment more easily. i've had some success with this because the dumbbells i use at my gym go up by 5lbs, so i'm adding on 10lbs every time i move up in weight.

Your instructor may be onto something with suggesting you start with seated presses. I personally did seated military presses for a year because my lower back was getting hit real good with squats and deads and couldn't take the additional strain from OHP.

Have sort of the same problem, for bench press I am doing dumbell, and they only go up by 2.5kg increments so 5kg (11lb or something?) per increment, a friend suggested instead of just doing 3x5 and then going up, doing 3x5 then 3x8, next workout then 2x12, then go up in weight increments and start at 3x5 again.
