Starting Strength says to keep your head an inch off the bench I believe.
Thanks for the comments guys. I'll work on all those things.

Squatting 3x5x220 Benching 3x5x150 (why you so weak bench?) Overhead pressing 3x5x104 (broke my plateau finally) DLing 1x5x270 PCing 5x3x85
Questions...
At what point should I start using chalk for deadlifts? When I did 260 on DLs, grip was difficult, but everything else was fairly easy. I chalked up for 270, and it felt pretty good. Grip strength seems to be my weak point when it comes to DL, but I don't want to use chalk as a crutch...
Power Cleans... I'm working on the technique and my weights are light... so light it's difficult to start out with the 1st pull? because there are no bumper plates and the 10s/25s aren't really adequate size. Any uhh recommendations? (I'm just pulling it off the floor for right now but it get's annoying, esp with the bb clips in the way).

Froadac can't you tell her that the only way to solve this matter is actually by DOING it? You know your current weight gain over 2-3 weeks and how you look. She knows her stats. Do Paleo/GOMAD for 4 weeks and see how it goes? Seems reasonable, especially if you tell her it's so important to you you'd do extra chores.
Orrrr take Kamais advice and film the whole thing. You could live on your own with the money that makes on youtube.

Froadac, if the situation is as you say, there is no way in the world that you two will ever resolve that conflict. She won't believe you and since the argument reaches the personal level pretty soon, she will just shut down. There is no reasoning in your debate ever. Discussions with parents often make little sense. When I speak to my mother on the phone she says "eating meat more than twice a weak is unhealthy". But when I tell her that I eat meat everyday she is not even against it, because "you do strength training, so you need meat"... there is no logic in that at all and I don't even know where she picked up that you need meat for strength training. When we have a controversy about something, we pretty soon arrive at the "there is studies for everything" point, and there is no way in the world that I could convince her that my studies are superior to the ones she read about in the newspaper.
In your household, you will never be on a paleo-diet. Just let it go and eat whatever she cooks. Just buy your own stuff on the side and eat it in between meals. Hide it from her if you need to. There must be a way for you to make the extra $15-20bucks a week you need for that. And don't complain about all those carbs filling up your tiny stomach. Your stomach is tiny because you are 100lb, just forcefeed yourself.
And move out as soon as you have the chance... improved the relationship with my mother tenfold.

I agree with this. With the way you're describing your arguments with her, it seems to get personal pretty quickly.
Froadac, try to find a way around this. I think that if you can manage to do the following, you will do well:
1g of protein/pound of body weight per day, every day. 3000 calories/day, every day.
If you have to sneak out at night to drink two liters of milk to do this, fine. If you have to pick up a part time job on weekends to afford this, fine. Your mother is not a stupid woman for believing in what she does; she has just been convinced by the mountains of misinformation out there, which happens to many people on many topics. Just try to get along with her, treat her right, and go pick up two liters of milk every night after dinner for a late-night calorie/protein load.
I think everybody in this thread knows what it's like living with an intolerable person. She obviously isn't going to change, so it's time for you to get smart and find a way around her.

Froadac, I don't think battling your mom with those "weird and unreliable" internet studies is going to work. She is not going to read them and even if she does she will probably write them off. Sticking to what she trusts could work more efficiently, such as main stream media. Does your mom like Oprah? You might want to show stuff that she and her professionals promote, for example Dr. Oz. See this quote from him:
Limit your intake of carbohydrates that are quickly digested and absorbed, such as white bread, corn chips, and other refined grains. Diets rich in these “high-glycemic” foods have been shown to increase a key risk factor for the development of macular degeneration.
http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/5-eating-habits-healthy-vision?page=2#copy
His advice might not be 100% on what is adviced here, but it will get you headed in the right direction.
Maybe you can even find some Oprah or Dr. Phil episodes on finding a balance on protecting children and slowly giving them more freedom in growing up. Never thought I would give advice on watching any of that stuff!

i watched dr oz in the summer almost every day, it ran on estonian tv, it is great. Mostly for women tho but i got a lot of useful stuff from there.
today to the gym:
goals: squat 62.5kg 5x5 ohp 45kg 5x5 (..will be hard..) deadlift 110kg x5

No it doesn't, keep it on the bench.
Edit: To expand on this, because you don't want to drill your head into the bench either, I think he recommends thinking of keeping your head off the bench as a cue to combat this-- but you don't actually want to keep it off.

I find that my bench is stronger if my head is not on the bench. probably because I engage the back muscles more instead of just pressing my head into the bench!

@Froadac: As malinor said, she wont listen because she turns your fact-based arguments into personal ones. She will never listen because you dont tell her what she wants to hear, and she obviously cant accept that you are right and she is wrong.
Stop arguing with her, it will only wreck your relationship and probably make her even more convinced that she is right and you are wrong since she turns your facts to feelings.
The best solution is to get some kind of income, so you can earn your own money and buy milk/meat/etc. Cook some of your own food, and eat that, hid if it there is no other way. Not only will you learn more about nutrition and cooking, it will make you more independent.

arguing with woman isn't usually a good idea arguing with your mom is prolly never a good idea
I got my powerlifting gear today; deadlift slippers and squat shoes; no more lifting on running shoes/barefoot (which I enjoyed but I got crap from teachers at the gym)
Also: Gonna write a powerlifting thread on the weekend

My milk thing went open in my gym bag; big mess. How do I clean my Adidas Powerperfect II? Can I just push them in the washing machine?

Week 6 of Coan
Deadlift: 212,5kg x 2 High Pulls: 3 sets of 120kg x 3 Stiffs: 70kg x 5, 120kg x 5 and 140kg x 1
Didn't have time for everything (class starting) but I'm pretty fried anyways.

I wouldn't do that with lifting shoes...hand clean them as much as you can and then let them air-dry.

What I did is watch a lot of videos on technique and then ask one of the personal trainers to check that I'm doing it correctly. You could also ask any friendly looking person there to help you out--in my experience the guys in the gym are remarkably friendly and helpful. Either way, if you're there with someone else whose helping you, you'll find it way less awkward.
Also, you shouldn't be failing any sets at the start of SS or SL. The first few sessions are on low weights to allow you to get the technique down a bit.

So I'm sitting on the saftey bar in the power rack today after my first work set of squats and the fitness director comes up to me and asks if I want to instruct a CrossFit class. lol wat. + Show Spoiler +
got killed by squats/bench today though =[ 3-3-4 255lb squat and 5-5-4 215 bench. argh. Killed deadlift like a fucking boss though.

Yeah, the first few times are a little awkward, you'll figure it out though. Honestly though, if you have read SS you know more than 90% of the people there.
