I love fish, you definitely could have done worse.

I haven't been eating well these last two weeks; i was first incredibly busy and then got sick. only two meals a day, but still getting a good amount of protein. I've also continued to lift through it, and all of a sudden it's like "oh, another week of this and I have that six pack" - but that was never my goal, and its even less my goal now that i've discovered how EASY it is. I still need another 20 lean pounds before I should be worrying about this shit.

Do leangains and you could eat only two meals a day every day!

I have trouble eating more than ~800 calories +350 from milk in a single meal. Maintenance for me appears to be three meals where I eat this much. If I eat more of quality food, I feel sick and lethargic. I've basically been eating 1500 calories less than planned for two weeks straight. And its left me at six pack status with a minor headache. It's harder for me to add 10kg to my squat than it is to lose 10kg bodyweight.

I also do not do well at all training fasted. I do best if I eat a full meal ~ 1:30 before my workout, so leangains isn't for me.

I dont know why but i turn into even more of an alcoholic at the end of every school year for some reason...drank nearly every day last week and this week is looking about the same with my roommate's 21st bday tomorrow lol. Still managed to hit the gym, eat healthy (besides the beer) and go to rugby so i'm still in decent shape.

@eshlow, i think i have inflamed tendon(s) on my left knee from rugby (basically it just getting slammed in to the ground every week, i feel like its been perma swollen T_T) I've been taking 800mg of NSAID twice a day for my foot anyways so besides that + RICE on my knee is there anything else i should do for it for rugby/oly lifting? Neoprene sleeve or taping necessary?

I've been 'lifting' for about 2.5 years, started at about 60kg, and I'm 185cm tall (about 6' i think?)

First two years were pretty much wasted, didn't have a good routine, didn't eat enough, didn't even do deadlift and squats, but at least I was determined. Was only since the summer that I really got a good program and regular progress going. I've got a decent amount of strength at the moment and am working on getting lower bodyfat for the summer short term and then maintaining it while adding just muscle. I posted some pictures showing progress from march->april a few pages back if you wanna check them out.

what about you? any progress?

If they hurt while moving then a sleeve or taping would be good. Otherwise, probably don't need them although massage + light exercise with the RICE would probably be good

no offence, but a bit more muscle mass (especially in the abdominal region) would probably look better. for me thats just too scrawny

Hello, I am ^Maxwell's cousin and I'm starting to get into this weight training stuff too. I got my BF% tested and I'm around 18% currently. Is it possible to "bulk - take in an excess of calories" and still lower BF%?

As long as you' re still starting out, you will be able to pack on some size while losing excess body fat, if you train hard, eat clean and get enough rest.

I wouldn't worry about calories, just get enough protein with every meal, drink a lot of water and make smart food choices.

Yeah actually just listen to macuser. As a beginner just good (and consistent) workout program + food + sleep will give you results.

Started out, at 110 lbs, with a basic 5x5 total body workout 3 times a week for 2 years
(3 compound lifts every workout eg. military press/ bent- over- rows/ squats),

then I changed it up to a classic split with 3 training days a week, 1 day for pull, 1 for legs and 1 for push.

now to lose the last few pounds till I hit the 5% bf I do push& pull twice a week and have added
20 minutes of slow paced cardio after every workout.

As for sets and reps I just go by feel and try to keep breaks between sets as short as possible.

Had the 3-month follow up to my nutrition study today. Go into a room, fill out a survey about diet and exercise (which is basically asking "how much oil/fat do you eat" "How often do you eat vegetables" "do you take vitamins" "how do you exercise") then get height, weight, and waist circumference. Girl taking my measurements finished then said "Huh - that's weird." Apparently, I've gained 7 kg in these past three months, despite having just dropped five last week (see aforementioned sickness) but my BMI, adjusted for waist circumference has changed by less than a third of a point. So it's been entirely lean. She's taken over two hundred measurements at my university in the last week, and no one else has had the same results. And I'm in the control group of the study, not the one that gets daily reminders about nutrition by email and text message.

Fuck yeah TL H&F thread; ruining your nutrition studies since 2008.

are you into competitive bodybuilding? take suplements ? I ask cause 5% is really hard (say imposible for most people) and i'm not sure its really healthy or long term sustainable.
