Took a midnight deadlift session, week 6 of Coan-Philipi.
Deadlift: 187,5kg x 2. Next time I will deadlift well rested...the vid says it all. Speed dead: 3 sets of 155kg x 3 with 120 sec rest intervals. Power Shrugs: 2 sets of 120kg x 5
Cut it short there and did some neutral grip pullups, BW x 5 and BW+10kg x 6 (+1 rep!!).

I read through the entire thread a bit ago and was inspired to get in better shape. I was 5'10, 240 pounds, and 20 years old :[. I ordered both the paleo solution and starting strength (have read paleo already and will read SS soon). After a couple of weeks of eating better (havent been paleo the entire time but have recently) ive dropped 20 pounds( im at 220 atm) and do feel better in general. My goal is to lose about 40 more pounds, I think 180 would be a decent weight to aim for, but I also want to try and do strength training in the process so that I fill out my frame from being overweight for so long. The biggest question I have right now is regarding dairy. The book says zero dairy because it can be an irritant and promote insulin production, but throughout the thread people have recommended whole milk and butter from grass-fed animals. So if I'm trying to lose weight but am lifting at the same time, should I drink milk, if so how much. [I purchased an organic whole milk that is vat-pasteurized at 145, from grass-fed, non-homogenized, no hormones, and grade A (whatever that means) and try and stick to a glass a day with maybe 2 glasses on days I workout.]
Second question is about the butter, is it ok to use or not. I am trying not to use it often but a few recipes sort of need it. I bought the brand kerrygold, unsalted because I seen it recommended on another site. Looked for Ghee in the store but didnt see any, I would have gotten that instead [if Ghee is a lot better though I read that you can make your own from the butter so i could do that].
Anyways that was a long post but thanks for the inspiration everyone and I'll try and chime in more often : )
Dairy... depends on if you're intolerant. You can generally tell if you are. If you're tryign to loose weight I'd cut it in favor of water or tea.
Butter/ghee/etc. or any of that kind of stuff is good. Kerrygold is the brand I use... extremely awesome. Basically with the butters try to get good quality (kerrygold is good quality) but if you can't dont sweat it too much.

The only big thing I really see is that you have a slow catch, which is why you have trouble locking out. So work on pulling yourself under the bar and locking out forcefully.

Remember, speed under the bar.
Thanks dim!
P.s. my friends always give me shit for having a short torso and I just read that short torso and long limbs = dominant weight lifting. Yeah baby. P.s. getting smashed on whiskey and I have to play a probably top 5 team in the country tomorrow. Gl HF decaf

It's getting a lot bigger especially with the olympics and such, pretty much every university has a team and more and more high schools are incorporating it. I'm thinking about trying to add ~10 more kilos and move over to flanker(or just being a bigger center) next year...its a lot of fun Just had like a 2 hour workout despite eating 10 pieces of pizza and like 20 beers last night (team drink off ) After i chop up some vids i'll put em up, criticize my snatch! (finally got a vid of me hitting 105)
Here we are, 6 of my lifts, was pretty tired by the time i was hitting 110 T_T Hit 105 earlier too after sitting in the hole for like 5 seconds waiting for the weight to settle before i could stand T_T
We have quite a few people of your build and size who are struggling to gain weight. The most important thing to gain muscle weight, is not to train too much. Each big muscle group should be trained only once a week, but I'm sure you know that. Also, resting days are important.
I don't know how you stand to supplements, but of course they help. Creatine, Whey and other gainers will definitly do a big part in achieving this goal. Just: Take the instructions (like "Take one spoon of X per day") and quadruple it ... or first double it, then triple...
I hope that the world cup and the olympics also boost popularity here even more. It has already gained some, but still, no chance against le soccer... For now, we have like three quarters of our team whos from abroad (GB, Canada, Aus/NZ, SA), and a couple of Swiss fellas (most with british roots, like myself)

I don't quite agree on the once/week per muscle group idea. Legs can be trained three times a week by beginners and intermediates, and even more by advanced athletes (see: Decaf).
This is why so many programs incorporate squats three times a week. While Westside for Skinny Bastards only incorporates one leg day (or two for off-season athletes), it assumes that they're going to be doing training in their sport and can't do any more than two.
Sup brothers. I just got back from a week rest cause I didn't feel good the last time. So this time I'm doing this very slowly. I've done this today and I'll be doing this MWF.
MWF 3x15 10lbs bench press 3x15 10lbs bicep curl
TTHS
3x10-15 10lbs squats
Yea I know it's not heavy but I'm just preparing myself slowly to lift heavier. Can you guys suggest some exercises to add to my routine.
BTW I don't feel good doing full body on 1 day cause I get nauseated, I have anxiety and I feel doing it this way won't make me feel bad.
Thanks.
Edit:
You can also suggest body weight exercises. I don't mind doing them.
Also one more question, my bench can be inclined. Should I do both flat and inclined bench presses?

Do you have any issues with doing SS? besides the reasons its good for beginners in the OP, its also incredibly easy to follow and measure progress.

imho you should just stick to push ups instead of bench press since you mentioned not being able to do one. once you can do 3x10 push ups then you can progress over to benching. but then again based on the weight your doing (10lbs) looks like you'll need to gain a bit more strength before attempting push ups. also, try to increase the weight you lift each time you workout. you're not going to get any stronger doing the same weight over and over.
and read the OP while you're at it, there's a truckload of info there on diet/nutrition as well as exercise routines that you can do. good luck!
Poor bloke at the clothing store today, he really underestimated how big my legs are and how small my waist is. Gave me a pair with like 100% confidence it would fit, couldn't get it over my thighs, goes up in size and it was waaaaaayyy too big for my waist. He almost high-fived himself when he found one that fit.
Protip, when a gay bloke tells you your ass looks good in those jeans.. buy it.
Also, have 3 dates planned for the weekend, one last night, she left this morning =D, one tonight, on tomorrow =).
Health and fitness makes you look and feel good, which in turn boosts your confidence which breeds tremendous amounts of success in all aspects of your life, from work to relationships.

Yeah, I've had this experience quite a few times. It sucks buying new jeans when you have an actually decent amount of muscle mass on your legs. I simply have to buy jeans that are loose in the waist.
lol, try shopping in America as a tall guy. I found 52"/28" pants, but NEVER 34"/36" pants. Something's wrong with a country when stores sell pants for guys with 52 inch waists but not for guys with 36 inch legs..
