what do u mean only compete in one lift? the snatch? Since you only have two weeks, you might just have to keep it light until the comp. Maybe test a little bit next sat/fri but thats it. Maybe around 90- 95% but dont push it. How long of a break did u have?

Another milestone for me today:
100 kg clean&jerk :-D
Finally started jerking proper again, had a period where I sucked. Things are looking good for april 9th!
tell me about your progress! What do you have trouble with? What are your strengths? Its 4 weeks out, so practicing full lifts are more important. @decaf I dont know much about programming. This might be a good reference. http://weightliftingexchange.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=20&id=76&Itemid=111 Thanks i'll check it out. Its been about 11 days (not exactly quality rest either, lack of sleep and way too much drinking). I put up 95 snatch and 140 C&J that week before i left. And i think i'll have time for just the CJ (that's second right?)

At a competition, you have to go to a weigh in. I dont think u can just go to the clean and jerk.
its usually set up (im gonna make up times, but the spacing is usually the same) weigh in (10am) start of session - snatch(12pm) 10 min break clean and jerk starts. ends 2pm
Weigh-in for your session is usually 2 hours before the start of the snatch. Then there is a 10 min break and you clean and jerk. Hopefully you have a coach that can tell you when to warm up. It is confusing lol.
You cant compete if you dont weigh in.

Yeah i was thinking about doing it just as an exhibition so i can get a feel for it, not actually competeing but i want to treat it like one. How do you usually workout the week of the comp/warm up for the lifts?

Snatch is up to 82,5 kg (power)clean&jerk 100 kg
My snatch is very solid right now. Very few fails, even close to max weights. Had problems with my jerk, but I think I corrected it now - found out that I didn't really explode into the jerk. The 100 kg yesterday actually wasn't that hard as I could feel I was using proper technique. Overall weakness is still legs, but hard to do much about that in 4 weeks :-)
I do a little hang snatch, snatch balance and hang powerclean. But most of the time I practice full snatches and C&Js, starting at low weights then going up around my max. Depending on how I feel on the day I will try and improve my max. I might go for 85 kg snatch today

At 20% body fat would yall keep on bulking or would yall cut????

@decaf Usually the sat before the comp, I will test my max. it isnt a full max, it is to find my openers. Then the following week the workouts are pretty light, nothing crazy, just light snatch clean and jerk, pulls and squats. You wont get any stronger from just a week so the next week is to keep in shape.
@naz
Yeah dont do anymore accessory stuff. Full snatch, clean and jerk, pulls, and squats. I would stick to singles and keep the intensity high.

How do you figure out what weights you pick to do at the comp?
|
On March 15 2011 02:42 decafchicken wrote: How do you figure out what weights you pick to do at the comp?
mmmm It should be a weight you are comfortable with that you will hit easily. I would keep it light since its your first comp.
At what weight do you miss at?

When picking openers in powerlifting you generally choose a weight you would hit no matter how bad day you were having. Your second lift would be a PR and the thrid to break a record

120 is like automatic, 130 is solid and 135-140 i think is where i start to miss (i'll have to double check these numbers) For snatch i'd say 80-85 is ez, 90-95 pretty decent, 100-105 really inconsistent.

So like 2 weeks ago I got shit face wasted, then woke up in the morning and had dull but constant pain in my lower back on the left side only of my spine. I jokingly said it was my kidney to my friends. It went away later that day or the next day can't remember.
Drank again [ I drink like every weekend ] this past weekend and the pain is back. Its more noticeable but still dull and constant. Should I be worried? I've been drinking water and taking vit D and I drink a lot of water before and after drinking....Not sure if its a kidney infection [ worst case ] because the first time it went away and it would've been constant at that point.
And yes I'm not drinking for a while to be safe.

5 feet 8-1/2 inches
154 lbs.
I don't wanna cut cause I'm not sure if that will stop my height, at 14 and 5'8 1/2" my doc estimated me to end up 6'2" so I don't wanna fuck that up..

Hahahaha you remind me shockingly of my high school self. Dont worry about your bf% and shit, just keep lifting heavy and eating healthy, you will thank yourself in 5 years. I used to be like 5'6 160 20% bf squatting ~300. Eventually i grew, my #'s sky rocketed and my bf% plummeted, and i got like 10x more athletic, but i stopped lifting seriously for a couple years which i seriously regret I also ate like garbage but i didn't know any better :-/

Is there someone to help you warmup? I would list your openers as 80/120. When warming up and depending how you feel, you can always move your openers up. So in the snatch, warm up to 80. If 80 feels easy you can open at 83-85 or even take 85 in the warmup room. Depending how you do on 85 in the warmup room, you can go out for the 1st attempt at 85-90. Warmup is very important and its subjective on what you open at.

Pretty sure only serious malnutrition (read: not really feasible in the US) would stop your height...
Also just increasing your lifts + eating right will make you gain weight and have less bf- since you're still growing I wouldn't cut, but that's not going to stop your growth. You'd just be skinny tall instead of awesome and jacked I'm your height but 170, with clothes on look don't look like I have fat at all (yeah yeah exaggeration, throw me in the river), so even if you weren't 14 I wouldn't worry about it unless you were stuck for like a year with a good workout plan and diet.
