+ Show Spoiler + I got in a bit late and there were 9 of us, so I said "just don't bother the others, I'll sit this one out." The end. Actually, the club's president just entered me in his place without telling me, so, uh... thanks to him. It'd have made sense for me to sit out. Ended up with 2 strong players, a regular that's worse than us (the monoR who won game day) and 4 guys who're either somewhat new players or drafters (including the game who came back from Lorwyn). Very weak pack makes me start with Ambuscade, then Ifnir Deadlands, and U and W appear open, while B less so. I still get a Lethal Sting, 2x Consign // Oblivion including a very late one, but in the middle of the pack I picked 3x G deserts including the uncommon one and Hope Tender, so UB isn't really where I want to be. Liliana's Defeat wheels and ideally I'm looking at BG for that sweet 4x deserts with uncos deck, and I don't have any payoff for UG, but it's still in the balance. Pack 2 starts and I get back to back Tenacious Hunters, well... at least my main colour's open! I myself passed a pack with Earthshaker Khenra, Open Fire, Resolute Survivors and another good R card so look, signals! I know my neighbours are in W 'cause I see none of it and it was somewhat open pack 1, and I keep picking G stuff: Overcome, Hippo, Bitterbow Archers over Hope Tender (bunch of 2-drops now), Rhonas Stalwart on the wheel with only 3 cards left in the pack... B seems to be solidified with Scrounger of Souls and a couple medium cards, but I feel like I need interaction now. P3P1 Liliana. Well, my opponents need interaction now, B confirmed. I round out my curve, Naga Vitalist looks great because it's pretty flat, and am quite elated to see a Cartouche of Ambition... last card in the pack is Hapatra. Damn, goodbye Cartouche. Splendid Agony and Greater Sandwurm are excellent ways to plug my holes tho. Dang ends up something like Gift of Strength, Ambuscade, Lethal Sting, Splendid Agony, Overcome, Liliana and 17 creatures or something (6 2-drops, 4 3-drops, 3 4-drops, 2 5-drops, 2 6+-drops). I only have 3 or 4 ways to put counters to trigger Hapatra or turn the Hunters on, though. In the end I stuck to B for card quality of because of my deserts (and didn't feel like the slightly higher U quality justified moving to an archetype where I had no payoff) but I ended with something like only 6 black cards. The draft was weird, because some people stuck to early picks or felt like they had to switch but trapped themselves. Archetypes starting with me: + Show Spoiler +
Weird colour spread, some stuff clearly overdrafted, and I should have asked what my right neighbour drafted... some colours were ignored by 4 players in a row. Round 1 vs UW control + Show Spoiler + 2x Desert's Hold, at least 1 Thirst, Lay Claim, Sand Blast, Edifice of Authority, and some curve toppers like Riverwinder. Game 1 I get stuck on mana early with tapped deserts + Amulet so my first play is turn 4, he's got board presence by then and Aerial Guide + Lay Claim on my Sharpshooters (pretty behind in lands) kinda dooms me. Game 2 he seems to have more lands this time, and doesn't look very comfortable even with a naked Tenacious Hunter. When he finally taps out on turn 6 or 7 and I don't find a 5th land, I still fire Overcome using a Vitalist to trade 3 damage later for pressure now. He trades his eternalized creature, takes 13, finds Desert's Hold for one of my surviving creatures and the game stalls. Hapatra ends up making me wary and I'm figuring that as long as I don't play a giant creature into Lay Claim I can slowly whittle his remaining life down. I decide to go for it when I draw Liliana, reanimating a simple Harrier Naga (hard match-up, he steals or taps my stuff but doesn't kill it then just flies over). He lets it happen then exiles our yards with Scavengers Grounds, draws and concede. Game 3 has him Sandblast my t2 Hapatra then play Edifice of Authority so my bears can't even attack. He doesn't take much and once he's at 7 mana drops Riverwinder. I go wider, he starts attacking and since he prevents my big guy from blocking I just race, and abuse him playing other creatures to use my removal blanked by Riverwinder (Lethal Sting with a counter on pacified creature to turn Tenacious Hunter on, Ambuscade using Thirst'd Scrounger to remove a blocker and buy a turn on his clock, etc.), and finally get him when I play a 2nd threat so his 5/5 can't handle it. 1-0 That was pretty grindy considering how much better my creatures were than anything non-Riverwinder on his side. Too much removal. Round 2 vs Gbr Gift + Show Spoiler + The other strong player in tonight's pod, no idea what he's on then. Game 1 I keep a hand with 2-drop, 4-drop, Liliana, 4 lands. Proceed to flood, but slamming down t5 Liliana gets shit done. I reanimate a traded Tenacious Hunter but then he finds a desert for his Wall and starts keeping her at 3 loyalty, some turns even dropping her to 2 in my draw step if preventing some reanimation is better than losing a blocker. But walls don't kill zombies so between that and bigger creatures I get to be wide enough to finish him. At first I thought him colour screwed as he only played forests and deserts and later the Charioteer, after the match he tells me that he's actually almost mono-green, splashing a couple good gold cards and removal. Game 2 I get a better curve with t2 Vitalist and slam bigger creature after bigger creature. He misplays, using a G cartouche to fight with a Tenacious Hunter while there's a -1/-1 counter in play, and the club president who stepped out to make me play points it out as he's watching us play. We'd both have missed it, that's not exactly tight. Final Reward exiles Greater Sandwurm, but add Hippo and Sharpshooters and he can't keep up. 2-0 Round 3 vs esper zombies + Show Spoiler + I have no idea what he's playing at first, only that he beat RW aggro including a game missing one colour. Then we both mull to 6 and he goes natural tricolour on turn 3, while I keep a 1-lander, scry Hunter to the bottom and topdeck Hunter. I'm pretty darn happy to be on the draw there, cycle Greater Sandwurm and windmill slam Hapatra. By then he's got Slitherblade, Mummy Paramount and Cursed Minotaur ready to punch me. Splendid Agony is huge to stabilise the board, followed by Ornery Kudu killing a snake to replace it. Kudu gets pacified and I'm still short on lands and at 6 life when he stops being able to attack (thanks Hunter). Then my 5th land means windmill slam Liliana and reanimate the cycled Sandwurm, with Overcome in hand. I decide to be greedy and cast it next turn instead of just going for the "3-turns kill" and leave up mana to sac the Kudu... and the obvious Unsummon shows up. Whoops, I don't have 7 mana to actually hardcast it. Still a bunch of damage and some blockers, but on his turn he casts Claim... which would be 3 unblockable damage with Slitherblade if he had a mountain. I decide to count life and realise I'm dead on board next turn if he's got Unconventional Tactics, or Mighty Leap and another trick. I knew that was a risk and hadn't sac'd Kudu earlier, and even then with 6 mana I decide to put down a Scrounger of Souls first. With such a wide board I win the game 2 turns later, but against a zombie deck that may be straight up 3c but still ended up in finals I should be more careful. Especially after he told me post-match that he had 2 of them in the deck, first and second picks of the draft. I certainly would have deserved to lose had he found one of these. Game 2 is anti-climactic has he gets stuck with 3 plains, the first game his mana base fails him. Meanwhile I'm going t2 Vitalist, t3 Hunter, t4 Hunter, t5 Lethal Sting on one of his creatures, swing for 8. Then t6 swing again and drop Greater Sandwurm. That's dirty. 3-0 are you telling me the reason I'm missing The Locust God and another Scattered Groves is that I finally manage to get my hands on a Liliana?! I'm not even sure I deserve it, considering I said I'd pass as the 9th guy. Mono-green won his 3rd match, but the other 2 experienced guys with UW decks were 0-2 and faced off against each other... fittingly ending the draft with their draw. Meanwhile the "back from Lorwyn" guy (I need to find a shorter way to address him) actually placed 4th for his second draft, with a slick and efficient RW aggro deck. I'm pretty happy for him and I hope he finds some success! As we discussed while everyone packed up, he mentioned hearthstone and how he's always playing control (almost only mage) and hates "cancer" aggro decks. I should have mentioned his successful draft with the most low to the ground deck of the pod. ![]()

Hunter and Druid seem pretty insane. I'm really loving Gul'dan, but my Bloodlock deck is going to need a lot of work. I doubt it'll be hugely viable, but it's really fun playing a more controlling style with Bloodbloom/Cho'Gall, Violet Illusionist, and some big demon dudes to revive with DK. Defile is an insaaaaaaaane card.

Defile is an insaaaaaaaane card. Defile is extra good with that 2 mana divine shield spellpower person. deal 2, repeat deal 2 repeat deal 1. 4 mana felfire potion that doesnt hurt you. Gotta say hunter is fun vs jade druid when you just make bats with poison/taunt every turn until they get tired of losing all their jades to your hero power. The new rexxar lets me cut so many cards from my deck and just make it leaner i love it.

I think I ran into someone playing a very similar list. It's not terribly far off from mine, but definitely goes about it a different way. I'll give it a shot. edit - although it doesn't play Bloodbloom or Cho'Gall, which is like, half the fun.

It's in reddit's early meta report. https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/6t1sxo/roundup_best_knights_of_the_frozen_throne_decks/ I've tried it a handful of times and it's very good. Lots of clear, though can struggle against big dudes (really only removal for big health things, pretty much just Siphon. I might trade in a Blastcrystal Potion if I find removal to be an issue, but I've won all the games I've used it with. I really like this Warrior deck Reynad was playing: http://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/reynads-frozen-throne-scourgelord-garrosh-tempo-warrior/ Only bad matchup I've come across is control heavy Mage. I even beat Jade Druid in late game.

Fuck. I don't care if a viable deck with it exists, I just heavily dislike this kind of deck and I'm not big on Shaman at all in general. Why couldn't you give me the Druid or Priest one? :f
