The thing that I don't understand is that it's basically one giant pyramid scheme to get banks money and for rich people to collect rents off of poor/young people. It's basically modern day feudalism disguised as "you're going to own that house!"

Sorry, busy night.
Most 40k tournaments are Swiss pairing Bo1s. The general tournament army size is 1850 points, and those games easily take 2.5 hours to complete (which is why a lot of tournaments are discussing smaller army sizes or army comps). There's no time for Bo3s unless you want to have a month long tournament, haha. AoS events run 2000 points, but it's a different point system and those game easily wrap up in 2 hours, generally speaking.
Honestly 40k needs more of a shakeup than just sideboards. The new edition is coming out this summer (maybe fall) and is rewriting every unit in the game and how armies are built, the biggest overhaul since... maybe ever in the game's history. It's exciting, but honestly needed. I have a feeling that there may still need to be a format change, since the design of some armies is so drastically different that you need a specific plan to fight them over any other. A lot of people bring specific armies to fight what the meta is (lately Eldar, Space Marines, and Daemons, with some Genestealer Cults and Tau), and then they get paired against random stuff and lose because they're so tuned to the high-level meta.
The annoying thing is that if you don't specifically prepare your army to face some of these lists (Eldar with mass Jetbikes and Warp Spiders, now Ynnari versions of that with Dark Eldar sprinkled in, is the biggest offender), then if you get matched against it it's barely even a game. But that has a lot to do with poor rules at the moment, and will hopefully get fixed a bit with 8th.
AoS on the other hand is pretty well balanced, but there can still be matchups where people might enjoy sideboards. Gunline armies against slow melee armies aren't fun, especially if the scenario is one where the shooting army can just sit in one spot. The ability to sideboard in certain counter units (for example, an monster-hunting unit that is bad against foot armies but great against armies with multiple giant beasties) could be a nice shakeup. Not as necessary, though, since there has been a huge variety of winning lists in Sigmar events, and nothing feels unbeatable currently (other than Tomb Kings, but those points are confirmed to change in the next few months).

Also if anyone has ever had a desire to get into Warhammer miniatures of either type, this next year will be maybe the best time ever to do so. Low point events (requiring only a couple boxes) are getting pretty popular, and there are boxed games coming out that are easy to pick up and play (Blood Bowl, Shadespire, Kill Team, Shadow Wars: Armageddon [aka Necromunda reborn], AoS 28: Hinterlands [aka Mordheim reborn]). It's really the easiest time I've been part of the hobby to just spend a relatively small amount and get a lot of enjoyment without massive time and money investments.
While the competitive tourney scene for 40k is in a bit of a shit state, competitive AoS and friendly versions of both are possibly in the best state they've ever been in. I just don't go to 40k tournaments and otherwise have a great time in the hobby right now!

Oh yeah the system is shit but you have to play so you might as well try and climb the pyramid instead of feeding rich people rent checks forever.

4x Kytheon, Hero of Akros 4x Path to Exile 4x Gideon's Reproach 4x Gideon of the Trials 4x Oath of Gideon 4x Gideon's Avenger 4x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar 4x Gideon Jura 4x Gideon, Champion of Justice 4x Mutavault 3x Emeria, The Sky Ruin 19 Plains
This makes me laugh. I hope it's viable just because I don't play modern Oops all gideons

Just finished Legion, dam that was cool. Finally x-men stuff that actually shows how freaking OP terrifying mental powers are.
edit: Oh I see another gideon. Freaking lovely. Wotc what the fuck man.

the emblem is a trap, you already cant lose with gideon on the board
good thing the other two abilities are just op enough on their own
|
It's a worse card than the other gideon but it may be a decent 3 drop in slower strats just because his +1 is real gas. Just so annoying we had a white planeswalker in last set but they decided that card couldn't be good or interesting. Then we get yet another gideon and this one is super pushed along with weird non-ultimate ultimate.
Did they just give up pretending they gave a shit about non-gatewatch?

Platinum Gideon is really op.

Was gonna point out that Theros Kiora has a similar +1, but I forgot that it's a planeswalker that costs 4 with a starting loyalty of 2... welp. (Plus BFZ Kiora has a way better ult anyway!)
His + works against vehicles, which is great. Hopefully there's either some planeswalker removal, or other effects similar to Grasp of Darkness to deal with him (adding -1/-1 counters at instant speed is probably gonna be limited to... well, limited yeah, so that doesn't count). And I like Dovin Baan, it's just that against a standard with vehicles, triggered rather than activated abilities, and so many creatures that just come back from the yard at your end step, his + is useless and his - isn't worth it since your opponent doesn't spend a card to remove him.

I've been on the fence about that. Might check it out. Usually that stupid psychic/mental shit is just ppl putting their finger to their temple and staring really hard, or just screaming really loud at each other.

I watched the first episode and it's either brilliant or fucking insane and stupid. Haven't had a chance for more yet, but I think it might be the former.

Canadian ISP's suck major dick.
They changed my works static IP addresses that have been used for the last 15 years to residential dynamic IP's! Without saying a thing! So obviously now the entire company can't send or receive emails because everyone and their mom's dog are like "the fuck... why is some residential bro spoofing that companies emails? Ignore it!"
Holy Jesus man... I wonder if they realize how much that fucks a company.
Black lists for days... spent all day trying to help IT clear up the lists but still not quite there...

I keep getting these really painful leg cramps while I'm sleeping. This body is getting buggy I want a new model.

Buying your house seems like quite an american thing too. (I might be misrepresenting some countries but) afaik most europeans are fine with renting until relatively old, and that's basically a necessity in cities these days anyway, at least until the next housing crash >.>
The "buy a house" stage of the "car, marriage, house, family" american dream feels pretty usa-specific :p

Start doing judo or some martial art, then when Cixah wins the lottery and invites all of TL to live on his private island, me you and scip can have a glorious battle royale.
The state of constant pain also helps mask any underlying issues your body may have.

I keep waking up to my knee at an awkward angle, moving it, then waking it up and it hurts like crazy anyways. Pretty annoying. I cramp a lot more these days too, feels bad man. :\

Watching Limitless (fairly mediocre standard cable show) - experienced unexpected babymetal

What makes you think Scip is allowed to fight his English teacher?
