If you get it off it's probably not much hassle to get the alternator out, take it to the local car parts store and they'll normally test it for free. doing this at lunch hopefully It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't also snow storming. This is just a huge pain in the ass right now

I'm always, I have this, this, and this to do... but I'm working all day, so I'll get to it sometime...

Very rarely is it worth trying to keep a car from the brink of death.

I've had it for like 7 years now, and only has ~150k miles. But it's gettin old man. When the internals of an old car start to die it's almost always more expensive to keep fixing it. It's a PITA to figure out when you've hit that point though. A 26 year old car is probably not going to last all that much longer no matter what you do, breaking down is part of the business model.

So then that begs the question - where should I look? I would like to probably finance a newer car. I've never done anything like this. IDK WTF IM DOING GUYS. Also, the car has to be standard transmission

Also, the car has to be standard transmission I just went through considering this myself but i still have no idea wtf im doing. you can get a pretty good deal on a brand new car these days if your going for financing. 0 down 0% finance for 5 years with at least as long bumper to bumper warranty. if you want something like a civic its really affordable. The peace of mind you get for the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty is invaluable.
