IMO, it starts out amazing (with Bad Guy and the skit), quickly becomes meh (low point is Berzerk or Brainless), and then gets really good again from Stronger Than I Was to the end. Desperation on the bonus tracks is also really good.

I agree those are the "low points" of the album but berserk is a really great kickback to early hip hop (which most people dont appreciate and rightly so because a lot of Em's listeners didnt grow up on that, myself included) and brainless has a lot of insight into his childhood WHILE staying true to the title and being erratic. obviously it's all subjective but I think every song is pretty much spot on.

On November 08 2013 03:13 Scip wrote: Americans are just naturally less healthy than europeans which is why their health is worse than EUs despite throwing more money at the problem! Stop bullying americans xes it's not their fault ![]() That's actually more on the mark, really. We just keep throwing more money into healthcare, instead of at the root causes as to why our health in general sucks worse than most of the world. We're basically the only nation on earth that just devours high fructose corn syrup products like it's candy. And even our candy is pure high fructose corn syrup instead of real sugar. We put in tons of different artificial sweeteners, sugars, and love our fattening foods and all the health issues it causes. Even some of our fruits are bleached and then color and flavor added back into them to make them taste like fruits again. And people who buy "organic" are no better because half of "organic" foods are the same shit with different packaging just so you'll pay more for it. Just a small example: The local cattle farms in my area give their beef to both Whole Foods as well as the local supermarkets. All grass fed, but a lot of "green" people are like "Oh I only buy my meat at Whole Foods! It's healthier because it's organic!" Okay, bud.... Only in big cities you might get beef from cattle farms where they're just put in a stall and fed their entire lives with growth hormones and shit. And those generally are a really rare thing in reality, although, fast food companies like McDonalds and Burger King used to buy into it like mad because it's a cheaper grade meat. Our health issues mainly stem from all the crappy foods we make and eat. Even kids are getting type 2 diabetes which is just ridiculous. With even kids going to the doctor more than normal, you're going to need more doctors in general to deal with the influx. It's also a big boom to big pharmaceutical companies, because they can push pills to "cure"/regulate basically any disease. Our desire to "fix/need/want it now" is just so great that we buy into that shit and that increases costs more, because once you go onto a lot of pills you need to take it for the rest of your life. And the demand for doctors is so great in fact that we often accept sub-par doctors into our workforce, which leads to a ton of malpractice lawsuits which just skyrockets costs for everyone even more. It's just a silly and vicious cycle that other nations don't really deal with as much, partially due to them being smaller with a better education system in place, and being able to keep up with the demand due to that (Seriously, our school systems suck), but also because other nations in general are healthier overall, aren't so jaded by big pharma, and don't have this extra need for all these doctors.

I could be mistaken but I was under the impression from my readings that the food engineers or w/e design their foods to be the most desirable obviously and so sugar does that and it kind of escalates with competition. I also think your bodies response to sugars vary somewhat, and HFCS is one of the worst. TLOTGD is doing it's part and educating people how to cook with real food ![]()

(well, sugar, but you get what i mean) like, it's legit just saccerine with fructose, right? I believe so, yeah. It's artificially made sugar that is sweeter and your body metabolizes over 2x the amount of calories from. Companies tend to put just as much high fructose corn syrup into stuff as they would normal sugar, so you end up with it being far unhealhier. Real candy is made from real sugar from sugarcane, but most nowadays, at least in America, is made from HFCS. On November 08 2013 05:22 wei2coolman wrote: I don't even want to delve into the whole organic stuff, cuz that's not even the problem with eating healthy. Organic or not. A lot of health problems have to do with eating too much, and eating the wrong stuff. Plenty of low income families could actually save money, and eat healthy if they simply learned how to cook. Yeah, you're right. Part of the unhealthiness in foods are how they're prepared. Americans tend to look for the easier more convenient method which is in general far unhealthier.

I wouldn't say that Berserk is a kickback to early hip hop as much as it is to the first Beastie Boys album, which wasn't really representative of the sound at the time. I feel like the album is decent but really brought down by the singles.
