(nor do have I bothered to understand) - Poorer people get subsidies to make their insurance more affordable since it's required of everyone or fine. - Standards for insurance policy changed (crappy insurance no longer allowed. thanks wei) Correct me if I'm wrong on anything, I think that's the gist. It's a tax, not a fine. Nit-pick, but it's what keeps it legal and constitutional. You can stay on parents insurance until 26, but states can increase it. I know that in Pennsylvania, if a company wants to and some conditions are met, you can stay on till 30. On November 08 2013 02:50 caelym wrote: we don't have money to support it (if I'm wrong, please correct me) We do(should). Once insurance becomes mandatory, the amount of money owed hospitals that uninsured don't pay will greatly lessen and in theory pay for itself instead of the government. On November 08 2013 02:56 wei2coolman wrote: There are quite a few things I don't like about it. 1) no public option 2) insurance is still privately own, that means it's still being driven by their shareholders, not their clients. Conflict of interest. 3) for the young, their premium prices go up, when it would normally be lower. 4) the fine for medium size businesses for not giving employee's healthcare is less than actually giving their employee healthcare, so more often than naught, most businesses will just drop giving healthcare to employee and just eat the fine. Healthcare costs now fall on employee, rather than employer 5) a lot businesses work through employee loophole by giving them just below the mandatory # of hours before they have to give health benefits. Thus less money for employee, since 1) they have to buy their own health insurance 2) they can't work as many hours. 6) the website sucks 7) obama is black + Show Spoiler + sarcasm EDIT: i think it's a step in right direction though, but dunno why it's so hard for americans to eat their pride and just copy stuff like taiwan's healthcare coverage, and shit. Companies that try to duck giving healthcare will notice their employees leaving to other companies, and perhaps competitors, that are willing to make "less" due to benefits. The same way that customers will take their money elsewhere, workers will take their labor elsewhere. On November 08 2013 05:06 Requizen wrote: Gonna go see Ender's Game tonight. Apprehensive because mixed reviews, but excited because it's one of those theaters where they have tables at the chairs and you can order like meals and drinks and stuff. Dinner and a movie aren't two exclusive events, what a time to be alive. I want to go to a dinner theater so bad, but I don't know where any are around me.

It's raining here in Mass. I love walking outside and just feeling the snow coming. I hope we start getting some soon. My car sucks ass in the snow, but I love the holiday season and snow really drives it home for me.

And the six-year old doesn't care about whether its a tax or fine I know it's relevant in terms of defending the however and I'm sure Mike appreciates it ![]() On November 08 2013 05:50 Carnivorous Sheep wrote: yea seriously wtf op its 3 45 idk what the occasion is i was just musing to myself that some booze would be great and our office manager just strolls in with a cooler of beers and a bottle of jack and a bottle of vodka I AINT COMPLAINING Where do you work?? @cheep now is your chance to ask for a raise. challenge him/her to a drinking game. your vacation days vs % raise. when you win you can send me 50$ (1/4 of my paycheck) and you pocket the rest, KK? @mordek 6 yr old mike gives no fucks between fine and tax. mostly because 23 yr old mike doesn't even have to worry about taxes until 2015 wooooooooo @soniv I really encourage you to listen to the original mmlp. he has talked about how relapse was him super hopped up on drugs and not his best work. MMLP2 is really like mmlp 2.0, not a sequel, but a more mature version of what really encapsulated the anger and emotion that brought him to the forefront of hip hop. he is one of, if not, the most technically gifted rappers of all time AND the best selling ARTIST of the 2000s (decade). like him or not that's fucking impressive. there are a lot of references to the original mmlp that make the MMLP2 so much better.
